I've committed the cardinal sin... apparently...

So, I've moved and renamed my pictures from my hardrive... And I was told yesterday that that was a big no no. Now, iPhoto can't find my pictures and I can edit them or do anything other than look at them. I called apple, and basically they told me that I had to pay fifty dollars or two hundred and fifty to get the answer... So I'm hoping that I won't have to do either and can find someone to help me here. Can anyone tell me how to have my computer put everything in the right folders again? apple was kind enough to tell me that there IS a way to do it, just not how. If anyone can step me through this, I would greatly greatly greatly appreciate it.!!

How much did you mess it up? You can put the pictures back into the correct folders as long as you know where they should be..
In your iPhoto Library folder, there should be Originals and Data folders.
These two will be where your files should be. The difference is that the Originals folder contains the files as they were when imported-in their original format and size. The Data folder contains thumbnails for each image in .jpg. Both of them are organized by RollYear/RollName. If you sort and view by FilmRolls in iPhoto, you can use the program as a guide for figuring where each file should be.
If you've edited any pictures, there would also be a copy under the Modified folder, filed under the same RollYear/RollName structure as the Data and Originals folders.
In order to have iPhoto work correctly, the organization must match exactly what it was before you changed it.
If this seems too much work, you are better off re-importing everything and starting over fresh.

  • The Cardinal Sin!  Finder and IPhoto

    I am really new to Macs and IPhoto and from reading a few of the discussions it looks I have committed the cardinal sin. I rearranged most of my photos in Finder as I found that the date sorting was really unhelpful espcially if I was using hotmail or yahoo to email my photos. Now when I open IPhoto the majority (but not all) of the photos are just grey boxes. The info is still there in the box on the bottom left in IPhoto but all the ones that I cropped and altered etc don't seem to show up in Finder at all. Have I lost these completely? Will I be able to see the photos again in IPhoto?

    don't worry DaisyGirl,
    We'll get you back up an running.

    Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
    About the iPhoto Library folder
    Close iPhoto
    Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
    Drag this library to your desktop
    Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
    This is the window you will get
    Create a new library or choose a library to open
    Choose to create a new library
    Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
    Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
    iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
    Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
    Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
    You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
    You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
    It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!
    Oh, for what you want t do...
    iPhoto 5 now stores the Album information in a data xml file. There are some third party applications that can read the xml file and can navigate the iPhoto library and show you the Albums. Hopefully more applications will be revised to read this file.
    Until then you will have to Share/Export the photos to the desktop. You can then navigate to the desktop to use the photos (example: web uploading from online photo site)
    If your application supports drag and drop, you can drag the photo from an open iPhoto Library window into your application.
    For email you can also use the email icon within iPhoto to open a message with the highlighted photo attached.
    You can also use spotlight to find images in an Album...
    This is what I have done using Spotlight to find my images that are in iPhoto albums without opening iPhoto..
    In iPhoto, select the album, then select all, go to Photos/batch change.
    Change the comments to text. In the text field I put the name of the Album.
    Do this for each album.
    Close iPhoto.
    Open Spotlight and put in the name of the Album ( you have to remember the names of the albums or have then written down)
    In the spotlight search results. click on "show all"
    Under "Images" click on the "xx more" to show all the images in the album.
    Make sure you have it in icon view, the icon view box is the last one on the blue images line.
    Now you can control click on the image to "reveal in finder", open in iPhoto or Mail, etc.
    I am not sure if this is going to make you happy and it is a little more work, but you can find images in albums and even view them in a slideshow (by clicking the play arrow at the end of the Images highlighted blue line) using Spotlight, all without opening iPhoto.
    One important thing to know is you can set up a graphic program to be an external editor (when you double click an image in the library} such as PhotoShop or PS Elements. You set up that within iPhoto Preferences. Just make sure you save the image flattened and with the same name. The edits will then be relected in iPhoto when you hit "save".

    Hi - just using the new iMovie for the first time - apparently there should be a sidebar containing tools like "Content Library". Not on mine - even in Window view, Content Library features like text etc are all greyed out - obviously it's me - anyone help please?

    Sorry - I should have added that I have imported a Quicktime movie, originally created as an iPhoto slideshow.
    I want to create rolling credits at the movie end and apparently you can only do this using iMovie - can you help please?

When I try to download an app, I get a message that I can't get that app from the Brazilian store and have to switch to the U.S. store. The general settings are correct. I apparently need to switch locations manually, specifically for the App Store. Help?

    Open the App Store app, go to the Featured pane, swipe to the bottom, tap your Apple ID and sign out. Tap again and sign back in. The App Store will automatically change to the store from which your account is authorized to make purchases.

  • How to set the cardinality property as 1..n for a dynamically created node

    Hi...everybody
        I am creating Dropdown by index UI element and the
    context atrributes dynamically.To bind multiple data to a dropdown
    the cardinality property of the node should be 0..n or 1..n,
    But i could not set the property of the dynamically created context node to 0..n ...
    can any body suggest me..
    I implemented the following code in WDDoModify View
    IWDTransparentContainer tc=(IWDTransparentContainer)view.getElement("RootUIElementContainer");
    IWDNodeInfo node = wdContext.getNodeInfo().addChild("DynamicNode",null,true,true,false,false,false,true,null,
              null,null);
    IWDAttributeInfo strinfo=node.addAttribute("Value","ddic:com.sap.dictionary.string");
    dbyindex.bindTexts(strinfo);
    tc.addChild(dbyindex);
    I could successfully display one value in the drop down,by adding the following code before the line tc.addchild(dbyindex);
    IWDNode node1=wdContext.getChildNode("DynamicNode",0);
    IWDNodeElement nodeElement=node1.createElement();
    nodeElement.setAttributeValue("Value","Hello");
    node1.addElement(nodeElement);
    but when
    i am trying to bind multiple values i am getting Exception ,,,,

    hi
    you are getting the exception because of cardinality property.
    i.e   true,false and
    you are trying to add morethan one element.
    so,if you want to add morethan one than one element you have to set the cardinality property to true,true (or) false,true.
    In your code do the following modification for changing the cardinality.
    For 0..n -->false,true
          1..n-->true,true
    IWDTransparentContainer tc=(IWDTransparentContainer)view.getElement("RootUIElementContainer");
    IWDNodeInfo node = wdContext.getNodeInfo().addChild("DynamicNode",null,true,true,false,false,false,true,null,
    null,null);
    IWDAttributeInfo strinfo=node.addAttribute("Value","ddic:com.sap.dictionary.string");
    dbyindex.bindTexts(strinfo);
    tc.addChild(dbyindex);
    hope this will solve your problem.
    In addchild(..) the parameters are
    addChild("Name ,
                    Element class for model node ,
                    Is singleton? ,
                    Cardinality ,
                    Selection cardinality ,
                    Initialise lead selection? ,

  • Change the cardinality of a database diagram

    Is it possible to change the cardinality in the database diagram. I tried double clicking the lines etc nothing worked. the default that comes up when i put a foreign key is not always right.

    Hi
    When you draw the FK between 2 tables the cardinality is semantically defined depending on the optionality of the foreign key columns in the FK constraint.
    When the Create Foreign Key dialog appears it defaults to creating a new column in the FK table. By default this is set as optional so the FK is created as 0..1:M. If you wish you can check the 'Set new columns to Not Null' box and the cardinality is set as 1:M. You cannot use the diagram to change that cardinality.
    It is not semantically possible to have a M:M in the database and therefore you cannot model this in the diagram (you are doing Physical modeling in the diagrammer)
    It's not possible to change the cardinality in the diagram and have the underlying optionality of the FK columns change. But I have requested this as a result of your question.
    Many thanks for the question

  • Resource has already committed the response

    I'm getting the following exception thrown in my JSP.
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: ERROR: Cannot forward. The resource "/jsp/AccountRebalancing.jsp" has already committed the response
    I'm not using forward, sendRedirect, out, flush, close etc.
    Bacically, when the output gets over 8k it stops displaying the html and throws the exception. I've tried using <%@ page buffer="16k" %> but the page still doesn't load fully. (Also tried larger sizes upto 50k)
    I've removed all spaces between %> and <%
    I am not committing the response in anyway, so I don't understand why this is happening.
    My jsp uses <jsp:useBean .....> prints out html and prints variables using <%= .....%>
    Does anyone know what this could be?

    I've gotten that error when I tried to redirect a user, but output has already been sent to the client. I would go on google and paste in the error header to see what other users had done in the past. As well as what other possibilities are there for this type of error.
    Good luck

  • Is it possible to retrieve a registration key for a hard copy of iWork 06? Moved and cannot locate disc, and replaced the computer it was originally installed on. When I transferred the program to new Macbook, the reg key apparently didn't transfer.

    Is it possible to retrieve a registration key for a hard copy of iWork 06? Moved and cannot locate disc, and replaced the computer it was originally installed on. When I transferred the iWork from original Macbook Pro to new Macbook Pro, the reg key apparently didn't transfer. Any ideas?

    Do you still have access to the old MacBook Pro? If so, you can transfer the license by copying the com.apple.iwork.plist from Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences to the same location on the new Mac. Note that this IS the main HD Library, not your user library. I have found that these files are not moved during setup or migration.
    Are you really running Tiger 10.4.7? If so, you should update to 10.4.11. You can find the updater here. You also might consider buying the retail disk of iWork '09 from a third-party such as Amazon.com or eBay. It will add a lot of features for you. iWork '09 does require Tiger 10.4.11 at a minimum.

    My 2007 Macbook Pro isn't able to download Mac OS X 10.5 because the software is apparently up to date on 10.4.11?

    Mac OS X 10.5 has never been available as a download, only on DVD.
    It sounds like you're using Software Update and expecting to see 10.5 as an option, but that's not how it works. Software Update will update minor versions within the same Mac OS X branch (e.g. anything in the 10.4.x series), but it won't upgrade major versions (e.g. 10.4 -> 10.5). For that you need the DVD.

  • Is  DDL's auto commits the DML's ?

    Hi every one
    Here is simple test case .......
    <quote>
    SQL> conn scott/tiger@orcl
    Connected.
    SQL> create table a(id number) ;
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into a values(12);
    1 row created.
    SQL> create table aa(sal number) ;
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into a values(12);
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into a values(123);
    1 row created.
    SQL> rollback;
    Rollback complete.
    SQL> select * from a;
    ID
    12
    SQL>
    <quote>
    From above test i found that the first inserted statement is not rollback ?My question
    1.) Is this means that DDL's auto commits the DML's if so then what will we call this phenomenon ?
    2.) How oracle works ? if we considered the same above example where the second table created in another session(say hr) and inserted few rows and finally comeback to scott sesion and fired rollback then what will happen in this case ?
    Kindly explain in details
    Warm Regards
    techie

    I suppose you ask for the reason behind the behavior you observed?
    Let me try to explain why DDL will always commit any previous DML:
    It is because a DDL (like create table) is actually a sequence of DML on internal dictionary tables.
    Create table will e.g. insert into the dictionary tables obj$ and tab$. We need to commit those internal DML in order to keep the Data Dictionary consistent in case of e.g. an Instance Crash.
    It is kind of a side effect that previous DML of that session is commited along that also. It has always been that way - you must be aware of this of course.
    Generally speaking, DDL is not supposed to be part of an ordinary transaction.
    Kind regards

    Does commit work (commiting the changess to database )take same time for one record and 1000 records

    Hi ,
    There is some micro seconds differences in updating the recors . If you have huge records ,split the data into parts and insert it .
    To avoid errors  or warnings ,you can use 'WAIT UPTO 5 SECONDS ' .

  • How can I change the cardinality of Model Node?

    Hi everybody
    How can I change the cardinality of Model Node?
    Previous:
    I import a Model RFC, and some nodes has the cardinality 0..1, but with this configuration, when I bind to the text fields of my webdynpro and deploy, all my fields text are unables when I shows the webdynpro.
    I check RFC and all the fields and estructures are obligatories.

    Hi Jesus,
    You cannot change the cardinality of the model node. All  the properties of the Model node are derived from the Model object.
    Your input fields are disabled because you are not creating your model object properly.
    You can import the example project TutWD_FlightList, which is available in c:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\examples.
    Import it in NWDS and you can see how to initialize model object properly.
    Thanks

  • Will the Ipad power adapter operate safely from the modified sine-wave output from a 12VDC-240VAC inverter?

    Will the power adapter for the Ipad Air operate safely on the modified sine-wave output from a 12 VDC-240VAC inverter?

    I am not sure why you want to do that...the power adapter takes 100-240 volts AC at 50-60 Hz and converts that to 5 to 5.1 volts DC at about 2 amps.  Why are you inverting 12 VDC to 240 VAC then back to 5 VDC?
    It should handle that easily, but seems like a long round about way of getting there.

  • What's the smallest sine wave output from PCI-5401(50&60Hz)

    Want to know the minimal sine wave output from the PCI-5401. Primary use for tests with 50 & 60Hz, with different loads.

    Hello,
    Are you talking with respect to frequency? Using the DDS mode, the frequency resolution is 9.31mHz. You can find more in the appendix B of the manual. I am providing the link below. Please do let me know if you have any questions.
