I've created a brick

I recently have come across several issues with my computer. (A pavilion g6 running windows 7)
I decide to restore to factory by restarting and using the restore manager. The computer froze every time so I assume it's corrupted or MIA. I read that by setting the restore partition to the active partition it would open the restore on start up. It doesn't. My computer is stuck at the BOOTMGR is missing error and I can't use F11 to restore and it didn't come withe restore disc so I'm out of ideas. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. On the upside I have a new paperweight.

If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD. Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
Windows 7 32bit
Windows 7 64bit
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. Once created, or if you already have this, insert the Rescue CD into the notebook and restart to boot from it. Select Repair Your Computer and choose the Command Prompt. When this loads, enter the following commands and hit enter after each one - include spaces as shown.
diskpart
list disk
select disk x ( where x is the number of disk the partition is on – most likely 0 ( Zero ) )
list partition
select partition x ( where x is the Windows Partition number – most likely 2 )
active
exit
exit
Remove the Rescue CD and restart the notebook – if this has been successful, the notebook will now boot.

To whom it may concern,
I honestly have lost all faith in Verizon FIOS and will start pricing to replace your service first thing in the morning. This evening I spent 1.5 hours on the phone trying to get my set top box fixed. This was a total waste of my time when I could have been taking care of a cancer patient or myself for that matter, something I get very little time to do. Below you will see what my issue is and what I think of your customer support and how you feel about your "clients".
Recently there was an update to the STB as was emailed out to me a few days ago. As soon as this update occured I noticed that the tv likes to reset itself and Im talking a crap ton. First it started off 1-2 times daily and now its 10-15 per hour if it doesnt just get stuck in the cycle of turning on and turning off. I decided to make the call to tech support who is utterly worthless. After spending 20 minutes trying to even get through your automated support I finally got a "person" on the phone who can do nothing more than read a screen. I explained what the issue was for her to go well I will mail you a new box out, it should be there within a week. I explained that is a no go as I actually like to use my tv and the service that I pay for, not it around for a week waiting for decent customer support. I was told that the stores dont carry the box I need and this was the only way. Every time I asked a question I would get the woman hissing through her teeth like she was better than anyone else. I asked to speak to a supervisor who about 15 minutes later came on the phone and said that the stores do carry boxes but it was not the new ones and I would be charged a $9.99 restocking fee. Literally I bust out in laughter at that because it was your update that caused this issue, not negligence on my part. She said that it didnt matter, that it is a nation wide fee and if I dont like it tough. I asked how is it that the stores dont carry the box I need seeing as I live in the mostly densly populated part of this country. She had no answer what so ever and recommended I speak to billing to see if they could reverse the fee. So yet again I sit on hold for another 10 minutes . This time it was we do have the boxes, there is a fee, no we will not remove the fee and its all the old equipment, not the new STB. I asked to speak to this womans supervisor to which she said no. I kindly told her I do not need to hear anything else from here and to put a supervisor on the phone. I get placed on hold for another 5 minutes for her to come back and tell me she is then bringing a supervisor on the phone and placed me on hold again. 30 seconds later she comes back and goes sorry no supervisor, it will be a 20-30 minute wait. Again I just burt out in laughter and asked how 30 seconds ago she was transferring me and now that person was magiically not available. I asked that she find a supervisor to which she just hung up on me. Total time lost over an hour. I call back yet again to get similar **bleep** stories of how its not their issue for a restocking fee even though they caused the issue blah blah blah. This time I was offered a "free" mailing label and I could go rent another box and then mail back the old box.
Frankly all of this is a joke and you people should be ashamed of yourselves . I have had better customer service speaking to people that dont even speak English. How is it you even begin to charge people a restocking fee for going to a store to replace your faulty equipment due to your own engineers messing it up. What exactly do I play over $100 a month for?!?!?! How is it you hire reps that can do nothing more than read a screen and supervisors that talk down to you? I have been with FIOS since it first came to my area and immediately signed up. I am now having some serious doubts as the customer service used to be 8/10 and is now -5/10. I frankly do not have the time or money to waste on a company that does not care about customers let alone do what is right to fix the issue that you started. Heck while typing this right now, the box reset its self over 10 times which would probably be a total of 75-100 resets today alone. Tomorrow morning when I wake up I will be calling cox cable as well as visiting Tmobile to transfer my plan. You surely do not care about your customer base and only want new customers so why not screw the longstanding subscriber over. How long do you think you will get away doing business like this. At this point Time Warner cable has a leg up on you when it comes to customer service. Yes their channel line ups suck but at least their equipment as well as Cox's works, its more than I can say for you.

Should i update my iphone 4s ios 7.1.2 to 8.1

im using iphone 4s, ios 7.1.2
after reading all the reviews of ios 8, im scared to update to ios 8.1
to be honest right now i wont able to effort a 5s.
so if i update it , n it lags like iphone 4 when it was updated to ios 7, then i dont wann update... because i dont like using a laggy phone.

I will share my experience,
I'm loving the change to 8.1 from 6.3.1, it is much faster and cleaner in look. Now for a fuller disclosure:
this is the first iPhone (a 4s) and I've only had it for a week before I updated to 8.1, aaanndd, it was just reset as new so it was as clean as could be for it's age. I have no issues to report, wait, I did have it "hang" when I updated. It went thru the download and started the install and then the bar stopped for several hours near the end and I though I just created a brick, and no it turns out I didn't. While reading all these posts I read about just (again this was after an unusually long time) shutting everything off, waiting for a short period (few minutes for me) rebooting. The phone said that it was updated and wanted to go thru the process to complete and activate as normal. Most all of my info was there.
That's my 2¢ worth...

First of all, check Permit Debugging in publish settings so you can at least reference a line number. It's not very realistic to post 150 lines of code, and say guys can you check this.
Anyway from a cursory glance it looks like you only create 27 bricks:

And then later you do this:

You don't have 100 bricks in Brick_Array.
Also - as a matter of convention variables names should not have the first letter capitalized - that is for class naming.

Looking for a miracle

Hello world.
I'm messing with a wrt54gl wireless router. After getting this router I started having repetative interruptions on wired connections. We're talking somewhere in the tune of 4 or 5 times an hour. Normally just 3-4 seconds each time. Posted on a forum and was told that perhaps flashing the firmware would solve the problem and was given the link... yes... you guessed it. They were unwittingly causing a huge headache as I didn't pay attention and downloaded/installed the 'upgrade'. Later found out it was for the wrt54g model. I can still get online, still access the router but most of the ui is missing. All buttons are gone. I can navigate by means of hitting tab to the upgrade firmware page and can even browse to the correct file but without a button to confirm and begin the process I fear I've created a brick...
Is there any hope?

I tried the threads instructions with multiple attempts at different boot times for the router. All I get from the firmware upgrade program is repetative "TFTP server failed to serve for some errors", firewall is off and still won't go through
the ping responses go from general error (power cable unplugged)
to transmit failed error code 1231 anywhere from 1 to 5 times
followed by ttl 64
I'm reading in articles that it should read ttl 100 at boot of the router for your window to upgrade the firmware???
EDIT: I'm a little curious as the articles all say to remove all cables except the computer you're using and disable wireless... I cannot disable the wireless transmit as there are no buttons to do so in the gui, i can get to that page and see the bullet buttons to turn it off but there is no button to save settings etc...

I have found a lot of online advice on how to do this in Lightroom/Photoshop...but how in Aperture?
I want to make a photo black and white with either the subject remaining in full colour, or only highlight one object in one colour. Please help (I am a Aperture rookie).

Dear people this can be done in AP3!!
please watch this- no plugins needed and NO Photoshop!! works just fine and infact as easy as any other solution. Incidentally the dodge/burn is not a way to do this.

2) Under the Adjustments drop down menu, select "Black & White"
This will create a "brick" toward the bottom of the adjustments.
3)From Black & white brick, click on the "gear" icon and select
"Brush Black & White away"
4) Adjust brush size/softness
5) Start brushing away!

Update to Mavericks, Firmware password lost

Hello,
about a year ago I set up a firmware password for my MacBook 5.1 (Aluminium Unibody MacBook, no Pro). I forgot to store the password in 1Password, so now I'm stuck with a MacBook which has a firmware password set I can't reset.
Will the Mavericks installer ask for the firmware password? Or will it just install Mavericks like it installed every other 10.8.x update in the past months?

I know that there might be a chance that Apple might disable the firmware password when I go to an Apple Store, but I'm interested in getting to know if installing the update to Mavericks requires the firmware password or not. "Dot updates" did not require the firmware password, but I don't want to create a bricked machine in case Mavericks does.

Need help moving my code from the timeline into classes

Hello everybody,
A few months ago I made a simple flashgame with the help of a tutorial (http://www.flashgametuts.com/tutorials/as3/how-to-create-a-brick-breaker-game-in-as3-part- 1/) as a school assignment. When I turned it in to my teacher, his biggest complaint was that the code was written onto the timeline instead of in seperate classes. I know virtually nothing of programming (dealt with agoraphobia while the classes took place ), so I was wondering if someone could help me move the code into classes.

You will need to learn about classes. I suggest that for the moment you set your actual project to the side--but keep it in mind--and work on some smaller chunks. Do some tutorials and learn a bit. Then try and apply what you have learned to your project.

Work on the individual bits and post more specific questions when you run up against them.
It will require shifting your thoughts a bit on how to design and structure things. For me the really key concept is encapsulation--the idea that your classes are self-contained and have very specific routes of communication for receiving and sending information. To achieve this you need to think about methods, properties, and events. If you've done regular timeline coding you probably recognize properties (x, alpha, htmlText, etc.) and events (MouseEvent.CLICKED). Methods is a fancy word for function. So when you do something like myMovieClip.gotoAndStop(5) the gotoAndStop is a method of the MovieClip class and that just means somewhere there is code like this:

That is a bit of a simplification, but conceptionally it is what you will do for the methods of your classes.

PSE 11/Win 7: Can I create an image of the front of our house all in brick?

PSE 11 on Win 7.
We have about two feet of brick at the bottom of our garage.
We are thinking of getting the whole front bricked with that same brick.
Is there a way I can create an image of our house showing that change?
I was looking at Fill Layer. There is some Pattern things available there.
But perhaps there is a better way to approach this.

Perhaps the photos app is too basic. I can’t confirm as I have an Android tablet. If you buy a $5 app, iPhoto for iOS5 you also get lots off cool tools and can create journals which make instant web pages. You can share with friends and family simply by using the copy link button and mailing them the URL.
Adobe also has a great Photoshop Touch app which you can sync with tablets via the Adobe Creative Cloud. Unfortunately the new PSDX files with layers can only be worked on subsequently in CS5 and CS6 as there is presently no plug-in for Elements. But the tools make it a great stand alone app if you want to do editing on the iPad.
There’s also the Snapseed app from Nik Software and Adobes consumer app Photoshop Express - so it’s a fast changing environment (Apple will soon launch iOS6) with hardware limitations. Not to be rushed into.
There is a hack/workaround if you have the CCK. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit to get files directly on to your iPad if you want to avoid the hassle of using iTunes or the cloud.
You first plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your video/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., IMG_1234.jpg; 12345678.jpg; MVI_1234.mov; my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.
You will probably see a message like unsupported USB device but you can ignore it and import your photos.
Gotcha
The videos will show up in the photos section on the iPad but a great trick is to just play a movie from the connected flash drive rather than taking up space copying a large file to your iPad.

Create proofing profile that mimics Black & White Brick settings?

Hi. I've been doing a lot of work with grayscale recently. As a means of previewing what Images might look like converted to grayscale, I have turned on "On-Screen Proofing" and selected one of the "Generic Gray" profiles. With this set-up, every Image I view in the Viewer shows in (generic) grayscale (Browser view shows them "normally").
The work I'm doing involves grayscale changes that are not generic. Is there any way to create a profile that mimics the settings in Aperture's Black & White Brick? (E.g.: -1% red, -1% green, 100% blue?)
(Yes, I can dupe the Images, apply the adjustment in batch as a saved effect (or stamp), and then view them, but then I end up good dupes and bad dupes and a good chance of disturbing the universe (or at least my Library organization). For this particular use, proofing seems easier to do, and much less likely to leave a mess.)

From a glance, one of the first things I wonder is if you might be interested in setting something up with multiple Levels Bricks. I'm not sure ( ), but I think the single-channel Levels Bricks affect complementary colors at once (red/cyan; green/magenta; yellow/blue). While it's true that AI only works with square tiles internally, the pattern editing mode in CS6 still would allow you to create hexagon patterns.
Check out the manual on how to use the pattern editing mode.

How can I create an executable with Flex Builder 3?

I'm working with Flex Builder 3 right now and I've run my
head into a brick wall. Here's the situation:
I'm creating a standalone application (runs in its own
window, not in a web page) and I want to run it on a computer that
does not have Flex Builder 3 installed. Help files and web searches
haven't directed me to the right answer, so I was hoping that
someone on this forum could help. Anyone know how to create a .exe
file or something else that can be run outside of Flex Builder?

This may be what I'm looking for, but I don't know enough
about the difference. I guess I should have pointed out that I'm a
complete Flex Novice!
Anyway, with Flex Builder, I created an MXML Application. I
went through all my various options again in Flex Builder and found
that under the project menu, I could export a release build in what
appears to be the format you mentioned. I managed to create a .air
file, but it is not a recognized file type on my computer. I tried
double clicking it and the built-in windows services couldn't even
find a possible way to run it. Am I missing some important step?
