I've created a store account and signed in but when I try to get album art itunes keeps telling me to create an account or sign in! Very frustrating - any help would be greatly appreciated.

chips1, I did read your problem. I understand you don't care about DLing the free single of the week.
Did you read what I posted, +because that method has worked for other folks+ ?
If you refuse my suggestion, beacuse getting artwork is supposed to work without DLing music, I understand.
Feel free to contact Apple using iTunes > Help > Provide iTunes Feedback, and tell them it's not working.
As fullcream posted, I'm just trying to isolate your problem. If you want to get the artwork working quickly, try what I suggested.

I'm trying to create a store account. I can make it to the billing step, where it asks you to select the credit card you wish to use or Paypal. I choose Paypal since that is what I am going to use, I cannot use any of the credit card options. A browser (Firefox) pops up. I go through the steps, successfully verify my Paypal credentials, and I get to a screen where I can go back to itunes. When I click on "return to merchant" a screen comes up that says itunes cannot be found on my computer. When I click on the button to manually find itunes it sends me to the credit card selection screen in itunes. At the top of the screen it says my Paypal account will be used, but when I click continue it acts as though I've chosen to use a credit card but haven't filled out any of the fields. If I click on Paypal again I go through the above steps again in a loop.
To try to fix this I uninstalled Firefox to try to use Internet Explorer 7. I went to the Apple/itunes store site and searched for music in the little black box to the side. I find the music I want, click the button to listen in itunes and it goes in fine, to the artist I searched for, so the problem of not being able to get into itunes from the browser is fixed. When I try to launch itunes from a link in Firefox, I always get the "can't find itunes on your computer message". Now, the problem with IE7 is that when I go through the account creation steps in itunes and select Paypal as my payment method, a new browser window with the Paypal verifcation steps won't come up.
Please help me people, I just want to spend my hard earned cash on music. Thanks to anyone who reads this.

If you already created an Apple ID, you have to enter a credit card in order to use that ID now. If you don't have a credit card at all, you will have to create a new Apple ID to use without a credit card and you will need to have another email address in order to do this.
First you will have to sign out of your current ID in Settings> iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. You can tap the ID and tap Sign Out. Now you can proceed with creating a new Apple ID according to the instructions in here.

You are saying that you don't have a credit card, but if you had one, you could enter the credit card in order to use the ID that you already created, but you never have to use it. You can use gift cards or just download free content. But unless you create the ID as outlined above, you must enter payment details.

Creating iTunes Store Account

Hi there, I have recently tried to create an iTunes Store account so as to purchase and download music/games/videos however when I get to the last step and I fill in my bank details and stuff it says "There is an error in your payment method" this is all, it does not specify what field the error is in. I have triple checked card details/expiry etc and it still does not work. Any ideas why?
ps: I am trying to register a Solo Card.

It helps if you say that up front. Lacking other information, we all would tend to presume that, given your Australian location, you'd be trying to use the Australian iTMS.
I don't know why a Solo card won't work with the UK iTMS, though if you're trying from Australia that could have something to do with it, even though you're trying to open an account in the UK iTMS. I'd suggest you contact the iTMS through the web form and see what they say.
could I use an AUSTRALIAN card (debit card, issued by WestPac) even though my address is in the UK?
No. A card must be issued by a UK bank (or other entity) to work in the UK iTMS.

Creating free store accounts without credit card

ok this is my issue, i had an irish itunes store account which i was still able to use up this recently because my old credit card was still valid, but now i'm out in australia i have no need for that card but still need to be able to go between my irish account and oz one to be able to update my app's from home. i have also noticed the sky sports football app i had is now gone and can only be re downloaded with an account from accross the pond. i know there was a way to trick the store few years back with getting an account without putting a card on the policy but because i have my visa on for australia is there any way to get it to flick between the two without the trouble of having a card for the ire/uk store>?

Have you managed to create an account and clicked on the verification email that you should have received to the email account that you put on the account ?
If not then what happens when you try to create an account in your country's store, or have you created one and it doesn't work ? Do you get any error messages ?

Hello, i'm from Romania and i bot an iPhone and i try to install some Free apps on it, but i can't make an account on iTunes store. I tried with my CC, but it seems is not accepted. How can i create an account for downloading the Free apps available in Apps Store? Is a way to create the account passing the CC fields?

you can use either a Music Card or a gift certificate to set up an account. (i used the gift certificate method.)

There have been a number of posts recently about debit cards being declined, and they are not listed on this page as a valid payment method, so I don't think that they are still accepted.

Hi Lrwill,
If the apps that are on your son's iPad were purchased under his Dad's Apple ID, then signing your Apple ID onto the iPad will not help you with updating those apps.
Also, if the iPad was sync'd with his Dad's iTunes library, then hooking it up to your computer/iTunes library, will require you to reset the iPad, and everything that was loaded under the other Library and Apple ID will be wiped out.
Can you provide a little more info about what was set up under which Apple ID and what iTunes library the iPad was sync'd with?

I just restored my 13" MBP i5 at the apple store to the newest version of Lion after issues with a previous Time Machine backup from Snow Leopard- this time I created a new account and just ported files and folders, and now MS Office doesn't work.
^^ that's the main problem. Here's the full history.
I bought a new 13" i5 MBP, early 2011 edition. I had an old white Macbook 2.14 ghz core2duo on Snow Leopard. I attempted to port over my time machine backup, but encountered problems in that my User was inaccessible from the new computer after the import finished, and I had to go in and change the root password, etc, and for some reason or another, I couldn't install any programs at all from that administrator's account. By "couldn't" I mean I could install them, but upon installation they would never boot. So, I took it to the apple store and did a clean install from the most up to date Lion OSX. Then, I created a brand new admin account, instead of trying to import the old one, and things seemed great. Then, I just imported my old files from the TM backup, but not any system settings, permissions, or user data. Just my Docs, pics, vids, apps, and itunes stuff.
Here's where things get weird again. I imported this stuff under the name "old", but all of these folders have a red negative sign on them, marking them as restricted. So, from my main admin account, I cannot even peruse these folders. Since I didn't import user data, I can't sign in to the "old" account to change permissions. I already tried to change the permissions from system preferences, but that didn't change anything. And now, for whatever reason, of all the apps that were imported then, MS Office is the only set of apps that does not work. When I click on it, it just says there was a problem and asks if I'd like to send a report to apple. I tried reinstalling it to no avail. I'm an English student, so i really need access to Word. Can anyone help? The Apple store is a major detour for me and would like to fix this issue myself.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)
