I've defragmented the iPod HD and optimized its directory. Anyone else?

I have these two applications I use for my MBP and external FW drive:
1. iDefrag. For defragmenting HD
2. Disk Warrior 4 (for Intel). Respected directory repair program.
Having successfully used these two apps with my normal computing devices, and seeing their benefit, I thought why not try it with the iPod? The worst that could happen is that I would have to restore it and re-sync my mp3 library...
After loading Disk Warrior 4, the iPod appeared in its window, like any other drive, as my iPod was mounted on the desktop. I had the iPod's preferences set so that it mounts as a HD, so I guess that's why it appeared in DW's window.
When I analysed the iPod's directory using Disk Warrior 4, there was over 50% error! It was a mess. Normally, for a healthy device, the figure should not be avove around 2%...
Disk Warrior replaced successfully the iPod's directory, although iTunes flashed a message saying that I didn't have the necessary privileges to do so. I just clicked "OK" to proceed.
With iDefrag, the image was not pretty either, with lots of non-contiguous space. It took around 1 and 1/2 hours to defragment my 30 G 5th gen. iPod.
To be honest, I didn't notice any difference in the operating of the iPod afterwards... There are no processes involved that could show an improvement in performance. What could it be, after all?...the music being played faster?...
Nevertheless, it's good to know that it's "healthier" now. Has anyone tried something similar and noticed anything? Improvement?...
A.

I was thinking the same thing. With the amount of time it took to defrag, the poster could probably have simply removed everything from the iPod and resynced it back on in less time. And without the worry that some third part program might have put the directory in a state the iPod would have trouble with.
