I've deleted my calendar.  How do I restore it?

I have deleted my calendar by mistake.  I thought it was backed up to iCloud but it isn't.  It was backed up to Time Machine on the 8th April so am trying to restore that.  However, I cannot seem to find the file to restore.  Can anyone help me please?  I am very new to Apple.

What device are you running on? And did you delete the app or the actual calendar file? I would love to help, but I need more information.

If the contacts are still on icloud.com, just sign into your iCloud account in Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts on.  If they aren't on icloud.com, you may be able to restore them from your iCloud backup by following Winston Churchill's user tip here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.

thx for your help - you were right re the cookie exceptions file location,
unfortunately I did not have a recent backup copy (backup most everything regularly but not firefox other than via a full sysrestore).
I am disappointed that firefox doesn't do a precautionary dialogue

  • TS3999 Deleted my calendar and need to restore it.....can I do this?

I accidently deleted my entire calendar entries and need to know if I can restore it myself?  I run by entire business  by this calendar so I need immediate help!  Thank you!

If you sync your iPad with a computer, then the calendars should be there (assuming you sync the events with iTunes).
If you back up to iCloud, then the only way of getting it back is to reset the iPad, which means wiping everything on it and then performing a restore from iCloud.  You can't just restore some data from iCloud, it's all or nothing.  But before performing a reset (Settings>General, scroll to bottom of page, reset), I'd make absolutely sure there's a backup somewhere.  Yesterday I "gave up" my iPad 1 and migrated to an iPad 2.  I've read of some problems people have trying to do a restore from iCloud, so I used iTunes and set the iPad 1 to perform backups using iTunes and not iCloud.  Then I did a backup.  With the iPad 2 (it was reset, wiped), I connected to iTunes and did a restore using the iPad 1 name.  All worked.  So, if you have an iTunes backup of the device, then use it to perform a restore.  I assume the backup is relatively "fresh".

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • How do I delete a calendar event in my iphone?

How do I delete a calendar event in my iphone? It allows me to "edit" the event but not to totally delete it. Or at least I can't seem to find a "delete" option anywhere!

Did you create the event somewhere else?  A lot of time when u create it on lets say PC or mac, you wont be able to edit it unless its from the same device.
Its also possible its created under a mail account.  I would suggest making all your events via icloud, then u should be able to edit it on all platforms regardless on which device made the event.

  • How do I delete a calendar event (repeating daily forever) that I accepted on my iPhone from a mobileMe iCal invite?

    Hi,
I'd like to know how to delete a calendar event from my iPhone4 (iOS 5.1) calendar. The event was sent to me from a mobileMe synced iPhone4 (iOS 5.1) calendar and for some reason it was set to daily repeat forever.
The event has been deleted from the originators calendar now, but the result has not been propagated to my calendar, despite an update being sent out. When I attempt to accept it just hangs and doesn't update in my calendar.
More annoyingly, the event doesn't have an edit button in my calendar, so I cannot delete it (and all other occurences) myself.
Any ideas on how to remove it?
    Thanks,
    Rich

A workaround. Not perfect but it gets rid of it.
Do the below link's steps and then deselect that calendar from view.

  • Employee deleted my personal calendars, how do I get them back?

I have a small company (3 employees) and we use iCloud to share calanders, addresses etc.  I have 3 calanders set up for Work, and 2 that are Personal.  I think what happened is that one of my employees didn't want to see my Personal calanders on iCal on their computer, and instead of just unchecking the clander in the menu, they choose to delete it instead.  As a result, it was deleted on iCloud and all four of our computers and my iPhone corrispondingly.
I managed to recover my Personal calanders by using Time Machine and restoring a copy from last week.  Then I went offline, launched iCal and exported an iCal Archive, so I've got the stuff saved at least.
However, once I got back online, every time I try to load the iCal Archive with my Personal calanders, I think it gets overwritten from iCloud and my calanders dissapear again.
#1: How do I get these deleted Personal calanders to load onto iCal again?
#2 Is there a way I can set it up so that my personal calanders only sync with my computer and my iPhone and not everyone in my company (maybe using iTunes to sync instead of iCloud)?

As you've found, you can restore your calendars but because the deletion date is later than the restored calendars they promptly get deleted again. The workaround for this is a little fiddly, but not difficult if you just work through it carefully. It's detailed here:

  • How to delete a calendar on the iphone ???

When the mobile me services were upgraded a few days ago, the calendar imported from entourage and synced to the iphone via iCal was suddenly duplicated.
syncing works just fine, but it is impossible to get rid of the old calendar on the iPhone. even deleting all calendars from iCal and then syncing via mobileMe cannot remove this calendar. it has gone from the local iCal and from mobileMe but it still is there on the iPhone.
As I said-syncing the iPhone with the empty mobileMe does NOT remove the calendar. How can I get rid of it ?

I finally worked this out. My situation had old calendars that used to be synced in combination with switching to a different Mobile Me account.
Bottom line is that once a calendar is created locally on your iPhone for whatever reason, there is no way to delete it. You can only reconfigure the set of calendars, but how to do that can be a can't-get-there-from-here-in-this-state problem.
Here is a step by step of what I had to do to restore sanity:
This assumes there is no calendar information that lives only on your iPhone that you want to keep.
On your iPhone, in Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, find your Mobile Me account, turn off "Calendars". Exit the settings application (hit the button to go back to the home screen), or the next sync will fail.
Temporarily create a calendar in iCal called "Apple FAIL" or something. In iTunes under your phone->Info, "Sync iCal calendars", select just that calendar (unchecking the option to sync iCal calendars won't clear out the stranded ones).
Under "Advanced" on the same screen (you might have to scroll down to see it), check "Calendar" under "Replace information on this iPhone"
    Sync.
On iTunes, uncheck "Sync iCal calendars"
    Sync.
On your Mac, delete the temporary "Apple FAIL" calendar you created
If you are using Mobile Me:
On your iPhone, go back to Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, find your Mobile Me account, turn "Calendars" back on.
    Otherwise:
In iTunes, select the iCal calendars you want and re-sync
    Soapbox:
Apple is normally good at solving complex issues with an intuitive user interface and a convenient workflow. This situation is a fail on both accounts.
What lead to this situation for me is I wanted to see subscribed calendars on my iPhone in addition to using Mobile Me. Syncing a subscribed calendar in iCal from my Mac won't actually set it up on my iPhone as a subscribed calendar, so that calendar on my iPhone is only as up-to-date as my iCal version of it was as of the last time I synced, which then will only be as up-to-date as the last time I ran iCal and synced it. Instead, I have to manually subscribe to the calendars on my iPhone by either emailing myself the webcal: links or typing them into Safari on my iPhone. Managing subscribed calendars both on my iPhone and iCal is a giant PITA.
