I've deleted my Mail app. How to get it back?

Hi,
I have somehow, by accident (I have no idea how) deleted my Mail app. It is not in my applications folder and I cannot find it in spotlight. Is there somewhere I can download it or will I have to reinstall OS X, which would be a horror?
Any help is very welcome. Thanks!

Hello,
With Tiger, you need only to do a custom install. See:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301229
then after this custom install run the Combo Update to ensure that Mail is then compatible with your OS version. If you are only using 10.4.8, then you will need to search for the Combo that only takes you to that level. The first one you will find will be for 10.4.9, however.

  • Accidentally deleted Garageband from iPad - how to get it back?

My daughter accidentally deleted the Garageband app from her new iPad Air - how do I get it back?
It came pre-installed on the iPad, hence when you go to the App store, it does not show as downloadable for free, or in the cloud, you have to pay for it.
Also this iPad has never been backed up to a desktop Mac, so a "restore" from a Mac is not an option either.
    Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

Yes, try to contact the AppStore Support, if GarageBand does not show on your Updates/Purchases for downloading again (Download past purchases - Apple Support)
The problem is, that the price for GarageBand changed after the GarageBand 2.0 upgrade from free to 5$.  Previously the app was free, but the additional sounds needed to be purchased, and now the app is no longer free, but the additional sounds are. If you did not previously buy the additional sounds, you may not be listed as having purchased the app.

  • IPhone Apps how to get them back?

So say your hard drive melts down and you have to start fresh, and you dont have a backup of your iphone apps (which takes way too many hours with anything over 10 apps) How would you go about retrieving all the apps you have already purchased without having to re-buy them all? Or say you just want to buy a new machine.

Get an external hard drive and back up your internal hard drive. If your hdd melts down you'll lose a lot more than iPhone apps!
If you have already downloaded an app and buy it again (as long as you are using the same iTunes Store account) you are prompted that you have already purchased the app, and you can download it again for free.

  • Files missing from native notepad app, how to get them back?

I had a lot of files in the native Notepad app.  That app apparently updated today (without asking me first), and deleted all but one file.  Is there a way to get them back?  Should I just contact Apple about this, or are they not likely to have the file either?

I assume by "native Notepad" app, you mean Notes. If you have been backing up (via iCloud or itunes) any notes present for the last backup can be recovered via a restore from that back up, but you would lose any content not in the back up. No Apple wouldn't have them.
Unless you just got around to updating iOS to 6.1.4, the app itself  didn't update. Its built into iOS.

  • Huge storage in Mail.app - How to get rid of it?

I dont want to delete the account and then create them again.

  • MBP - lost Junk mail folder, how to get it back?

As the message says, somehow it got deleted and I can't figure out how to make  new one
    thanks

Hello, is this an IMAP or POP account?
We might start with this since the mysterious loss raises concerns for me...
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ does not exist.

  • Artist profile picture gone in music app, how to get it back?

    Hi Guys,
I got an Iphone 5s 16gb space grey recently and i restored from backup after updating it from 7.1 to 7.1.2.
I noticed that from my backup before and my old phone before my 5s (4s) that in the artists view in the Music app, there were artists profile picture which im presuming are their pictures from itunes. So that's what's showing on the artists view instead of the usual album covers from the artists music. If apple didnt have a "profile picture" for a certain artist then they would just show normal album covers from that artists which is also fine.
However, after I updated and set up as new iphone (then restore from backup), the "profile pictures' from Apple are gone and the artist views are just showing album covers from the different albums that the artist have. Does that make sense? I actually quite like the Apple artist profile picture and would like for them to show up again, instead of the normal album covers. Hopefully that makes sense and any help or advice will be appreciated.
    Regards

  • Hi by mistake i deleted my viber messages how to get them back

Hello i deleted my messages by mistake ...is there any way that i get my messages back thankyou

If Viber messages are included with your iPhone's backup and I believe they are and your iPhone's backup was updated to include the messages prior to the messages being deleted, you can try restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup. Do not update your iPhone's backup prior to doing so.
Have you checked Viber's customer/technical support via Viber's website?

  • Update 7.0.4 deletes all my music. How to get them back?

I just updated from iOS 4.3.3 to iOS 7.0.4(Yeah its my first time updating since I updated it).Being aware that some users are having problems with disappearing files I sync my apps and musics and made a backup thrice.I went ahead to install the update however before it it said that I need yet to sync so i started another sync(yeah it transferred all my stuff there). After that i went to update however after update my apps were still there but no music!Even in the purchased tab of Itunes!I went to backup directly but it said it wasnt compatible(which is pretty obvious because of the verson gap ),Pls anyone have a solution for this?i really want my music back!

Installing iOS updates does not remove anything from the device.
The user restoring the device as new or running the update on a computer that the device has never been synced with.
All apps and media should be in iTunes on the computer.
    Connect the device.
Select the content desired to sync.
    Sync.

  • Lost trash can, etc. in Mail window-how to get it back?

When reading a message, I used to see icons at the bottom of the screen, including the trash icon. (I think there was a reply and forward icon as well). As of today, all those icons are missing. It's just any empty bar.

It never fails. Once I post a question, the solution presents itself. I did a restart, and now the icons are back. Yay!

  • Accidentally deleted mail app: How do I get it back?

Today I somehow managed to delete my mail app -- it's totally gone. I can't find a way to get it back. Anyone know how I can reinstall it? I tried a fresh reinstall but it seems to remember my last setting with it gone. I have an iPhone 4.

It is not possible to delete any of the apps included with the firmware/OS. None of the apps included with the firmware/OS are available as a separate download and install because it isn't necessary.
If you are unable to locate the app within any folder on any home page, on your iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Home Screen Layout.

  • Mail.APP has been deleted and don't know how to get it back ?

Please forgive my stupidity, But I have deleted my Mail app I don't know how but all that appears now

Could somebody please help me out and tell how to get it back

Insert the OSX installation Disk, and instead of proceeding to install, choose the Optional Installs -- Mail is one that can separately installed this way.
If the Install Disk has an earlier version of OSX than you have currently arrived at by updates, then you will have to download the Combo Update for 10.5.7, and install that over the existing OSX after having installed the Mail app. This is combo is 729 MB, and is not the standalone delta update, btw.
