I've done my research just need motherboard opinions
I have an HP Pavilion dv2700 laptop. I know that the motherboard that I should replace is 460716-001 which has an integrated/UMA graphics card but my fear is that even if I do replace the motherboard w/ an nVidia chip, the display driver problems would just come back all over again. So i was wondering if replacing my motherboard with a 460715-001 be better because it has a discrete graphics card thats from Intel?
I just want my laptop to work again for school, i promise not to game or play graphics intensive things on it anymore. What should I go for?
I'm also a huge Netflix instant watcher, does that mean I should need the nVidia graphics card more than the one w/ intel?

Did you ever sort out whether 460716-001 and 460715-001 are compatible, whether the 460716-001 can be replaced by a 460715-001?

Hello everybody, Im trying to update my ITunes on my MAC (laptop) to the newer version so I can then be able to update the latest updates for my Iphone-3G. I don’t require a complete reinstall just need to be able to update my itunes.
What I have tried so far is I had my MAC search for update’s and it said that I should update to (ITunes version 10 . 6 . 3 ) So I asked it to do the update but after 2hrs of waiting for it to download/update it then puts up a message saying the following- (In order to continue installation, please close the following application: ITunes).
When I tried to do this another message comes up that says- (The update ITunes can’t be installed. The following install step failed: run preupgrade script for Apple mobile device support. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
I have also tried to run the update while having closed ITunes before I even start the update but the same problem happens after waiting about 2hrs.
Some one that had the same problem said this might be happening in the older operating systems. But that does not make sense because surely Apple want customers who own a MAC and i-phone to still buy from iTunes.
My MAC is about 4-5years old. I have a i-phone.3G,

The site files are on our server and I can still access them. I was not the one who installed and set up Dreamweaver initially and don't know very much about the program Just enough to manage our simple site and keep it updated. Just need help setting it up so that it's back to managing our website.

i have just bought a macbook pro and i want to use an ext hard drive with it which i previously used on a windows computer, but when i plug it in it doesn't show up on my macbook pro, I've wiped it and just need to format it but don't know how, any help would be much appreciated
Try the other USB port. If it still doesn't show up in Disk Utility then there may be something wrong with your Mac. Try something else in each USB port and see if it is seen. If the other thing, like a USB thumb drive, does show up in disk utiltiy then the USB ports are fine.
Power down the system and restart with the drive connected, go to DU and see it it is seen. -

When I try to simply add a few photos (from Events) into a newly created Album, it always creates a new Folder - a sub folder to the new Album I just created - for the photos to go into. I don't need a Folder! I just need the photos to add into the Album. What am I doing wrong?
Sometimes it takes a precise drop to get it into the album. Make sure you see the album highlighted before releasing the mouse:

Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.

Forcing customers to pay for a phone and/or data package they don't want or need
By their practices Verizon is forcing customers to pay for more than what the customer wants or needs, and at the same time giving the customer less of what they want or need.
I've been a Verizon Wireless customer for years. Everytime my 2 year upgrade is due I check what phones are available. It seems that as time goes by there are less and less Basic Phones with a qwerty keyboard, music player, good camera, and video. Now, there are only 3 phones to choose from that don't require a data package: none of them have a camera over 1.3 megapixels, none have video, and ALL had HORRIBLE customer reviews. Those reviews tell me I'm not the only disgruntled Verizon customer.
I've had Verizon phones that I liked in the past; right now I have a Blitz. I settled for that one because it was the best of the few bad choices available at the time. My most recent 2 year contract has been over for 5 months so now I'm on month-to-month with no contract, which is awesome. But my phone, which I like for the most part, doesn't work right.The problem is the earpiece speaker quit working as soon as my contract was up (maybe a software timebomb to force me to get a new phone?) so I took it to a repair shop to get it replaced. They replaced it but that speaker died after 2 months and since the phone has been discontinued (grr!), there is NO chance of getting a new speaker. That wouldn't be such an issue if the Bluetooth function had ever worked, which it never did. I recently broke down and decided I'd settle on something, so I tried the KinTwo (one of my 3 choices) but it sucked immensely so I sent it back.
So now I'm forced to buy a phone (with Some of the features I need, because it's obviously impossible to get ALL the features I want/need in One phone) that I don't like; AND pay for a $10 -$30 data package which I don't want or need, and can't afford; AND forced to sign up for a new 2 year contract. I'd rather go with Pay As You Go because I barely use any 'minutes' (I do more texting than talking, which is why I need a good qwerty keyboard) but I'd have to pay over $350 for a fairly decent phone.
HEY VERIZON, How about providing more than 3 choices of phones that don't require a data package? And how about making those phones GOOD QUALITY and not the garbage you're providing for sale now?
I'd like to stay with Verizon because they DO have the best service area compared to the other Big wireless phone companies . I've been with AT&T and the service area is really not as good. I even did comparison research for a college course's Final Project because I wanted to know which company had the more truthful claims about their coverage area. I live in the Sierra foothills and reception is a big issue with a lot of people here. I've talked with customers of the other companies and they all agree I should stay with Verizon. But if Verizon can't offer any good phones then I might as well switch to another carrier who may have more concern for their customer's needs. Even after giving us few choices of devices, charging high prices, and gauging us at every opportunity, they give us less incentive to stay a loyal customer. At least AT&T has roll-over minutes, Criket has 'no contract' service, and TracPhone has no contract/Pay as you go service with inexpensive phones.

You are spot on. Verizon wants to squeeze every dollar it can from it's customers and customer service can take a DISTANT back seat to greed. I have a Chocolate Touch which I got a few years ago(before it REQUIRED a data package). I had activated a different phone which I ended up not liking and when I tried to re-activate my Chocolate I got slammed with the required data crappage..er package. I had to fight to get the data BLOCKED and the phone activated again.
Wifi is all over but all the phones that have Wifi that Verizon sells require data packages too. I REFUSE to give Verizon $30 minimum for data when I have no need for it. If they had ANY CLUE about customer service they would simply allow you to buy whatever phone you wanted from them(or others) and activate them with data blocks.Until they do I guess I will either be stuck with my old phones or go provider shopping. If you took time to look at posts of mine, I have had VZW in my crosshairs a few times, but they made it right. All in how you present yourself. Personally, I am willing to bet that corporate suck ups like you are the very reason many people finally DO make the break from Verizon. Your habit of puking all over people with legitimate complaints and the tolerance of same on this board lead ME and I am sure others to feel that your dismissive attitude is acceptable to, if not encouraged by Verizon in General. And yes, I have been edited in the past. But there was NOTHING in my prior post that has anything you state in it. You just dont like what I said. That is not towing the company line, that is knowing it costs a Ton of money to get a new deivce to market and data plans helps recoup the cost and allows upgrades and LTE to be deployed. You would be upset if you could not use your phone where there is NOT any WiFi.
Even though I have had issues with Verizon's service and corporate paradigm(especially the companys determination to exthort every penny it can from me), almost every Service Rep I have spoken to has been considerate, friendly and helpful. There have been one or two who, when I broached the possible need for finding a new provider, seems unconcerned, but in general I have been made to feel valued by the people I have spoken with. {please keep your posts courteous}

IMac 600 SE - strange power/video problems - need motherboard?
Hello all,
Got this "project" iMac, have no knowledge of its history. Here's what's going on:
When I first got it, it would take 3 or 4 tries for it to fully boot up, on the first try it would shut off after a second or two, the next try it would get a little further along before shutting down and finally on the 3rd or 4th try, it would boot up completely.
Initially, it had a dim display and a bunch of wavy horizontal lines, like a TV with bad reception using a "rabbit ears" antenna. The person I got it from said from what he had learned, he thought it was a power supply problem.
So I replaced the down converter/power supply with a spare one I had leftover from a previous motherboard replacement, which made no difference at all, same problems.
So I then checked the firmware, which was the latest version (4.1.9). Then I did a PRAM reset, which helped, followed by a PMU reset. I did the PRAM reset several times when problems cropped again, and have done the PMU reset twice, resetting the clock both times.
The shutdowns on boot up have disappeared, but it will occasionally shut down out of the blue after being on for awhile now. The horizontal lines have disappeared, but it now has a strange video problem:
The geometry of the screen is off-kilter by default, so when I go into System Properties to reset the geometry there, and I use the "Rotate" command to correct the overall incline in the display from right to left, the display gets dimmer, and sometimes the horizontal lines reappear, usually on the right side of the screen. When I click on "Factory Defaults", the display gradually brightens again, and if horizontal lines are present, they disappear. This phenomenon doesn't appear to occur when I adjust the display height and position, only with the "Rotate" command, rotating it counter-clockwise. I believe the iMac even shut down once when I was doing this.
I have also noticed an occasional higher-pitched "whine" on boot up, which usually results in an eventual shut down.
So, are these problems symptomatic of a bad motherboard or a bad video board/card? Since I have the latest firmware and have tried both PRAM and PMU resets, and the occasional random shut down still occurs, it makes me think it's a hardware problem.
I just need some feedback here before I purchase a replacement motherboard.
Also, can the video board/card be replaced separately?

In your situation I believe 2 components need checked first. PAV board and the CRT. Or essentially anything shared by the 2 items, such as the CRT yoke/gun board.
As far as the logic board goes, the video chip-set is part of it (soldered in) and not repairable. Those parts rarely "weaken" (normally just die) so I would be less likely to suspect them.

Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.
Is my admin password the same password I use to log onto this website to post questions? If so, like I said previously, I already reset that password and my computer isnt recognizing it. -

My battery life at a full 100% charge is about 2 hours 22 minutes (backlight and key lights at lowest level). Should I go complaining to Apple or do I just need different software? I've only had my mac book since August 2011. The battery dies in 2 to 3 hours with some web surfing (little video play) and photo editing etc. I really don't feel like taking my computer all the way to the apple store to wait there for 5 hours to hear that I need to call someone blah blah blah. Any advice? (BTW Safari hasn't been working since I last updated my mac, WHYYYY?)

I had purchased an audio book from itunes on my iPad and when I synced my iPad with my computer, my audiobook disappeared. I have already purchased this audiobook, so now I just need to know how to get it back because it is not on iPad anymore. If you purchased it on your ipad, then you would have to transfer it to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
