I've done something to some of my photos!
Hello - I don't know if anyone is able to help.
My file structure for iPhoto library is all over the place. I was trying to tidy it up.
Now... whenever I try to open certain photos from their thumbnail in iPhoto I just get a big, blurred exclamation mark.
What have I done??! I'll be very grateful if you're able to help. Photos are so precious.

That is your problem - iPhoto is a relational database and if you make any change of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library you will corrupt it and make it unusable - that is why it is a package and takes special effort to get into
Now... whenever I try to open certain photos from their thumbnail in iPhoto I just get a big, blurred exclamation mark.
That means that the iPhoto database is corrupted and iPhoto can not find the photos - this is a direct result of your "tidying up".
What have I done??! I'll be very grateful if you're able to help. Photos are so precious.
You have destroyed your database
Your choices are:
1 - to load your most recent backup prior to tidying up (Since your photos are so precious I'm sure you have one - if you do not you will lose your photos someday), or
2 - restore the library to the exact state it was prior to being "tidied up", or
3 - Start over with your originals losing all edits, albums, folders, projects, keywords, etc -- to do this quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library to the desktop, launch iPhoto and create a new library, open the iPhoto library on the desktop and open the originals folder, make sure the iPhoto preference to split items imported from the finder into events is unchecked and drag each folder from the originals folder to the iPhoto window - this will recreate your events with your original photos

Hi I'm new to Mac. I have a macbook air and for some reason the top keys, ec, f1 etc etc are not functioning and emitt the non function noise when pressed. Also the volume keys don't adjust the volume. Have I done something to disable them?
I don't have the same version of OS X here but try System Preferences>Keyboard. Is there an option similar to "Use the F1, etc, keys as standard function keys"?
If so, and it has a checkmark, uncheck it & see if that does the trick.

I have done something terrible! now some of my photos will not open up, I can see them in the 'event' but if I click on some of them I get a gray triangle with an exclamation point. What have I done and how do I rectify it?
The exclamation shows when the file path/link to the original file has been broken. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I'm using a MacBook Pro, Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, and Mail 5.3. I don't receive some emails.
One day last week my wife sent me two emails from work. I received one, but the other one never showed up. She sent it to me again the next day, and again it didn’t arrive.
I thought that perhaps there was something in her second email that was blocked for some reason by some kind of filter at her work, but this morning I happened to open Mail on my lightly-used iMac 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 (OS X 10.4 and Mail 2.1.3), and saw that both of her emails had arrived on the day she sent them.
Back on my Macbook I looked through junk and trash folders and searched by my wife’s name and by her work email address - No sign of either email. Anyone have any idea as to what’s happening? Thanks, GeneI’m happy to say that I’ve found my problem. I was a bit daunted by the thought of rebuilding my pack-rat-like mailbox, so I put it off to see if any other emails disappeared.
Today, checking mail on my infrequently used iMac, I saw an email had arrived a week ago from my daughter (along with a reply from my wife who was also an addressee) that never showed up on my MacBook Pro.
Going through my MacBook’s mail preferences again, I took the time to review again my Rules and saw that I’d listed the word debt along with bankruptcy, manhood, and a few other words with the instruction that any message containing that word should be automatically deleted. Both of the emails that “never showed up” on my Macbook included the word debt, and had been deleted without a trace by my own rule. I’ve changed the rule now, at least for debt.
Thanks to all who read my problem and gave it some thought. The troubleshooting sites that Sheila M. steered me to and, believe it or not, the fact that out of 100 people who’d looked to see if they could help, there were no other ideas --these things helped me conclude that the problem might well of my own making and not some flaw that other folks run into.
I appreciate having this community to turn to.

I have an apple id which I have been happily using to purchase from iTunes and it appears magically on iPad and iPhone, MacBook and partner's iPod touch. Now I have done something wrong in iCloud and my mobile me Id comes up on iPhone and iPad so I can no longer purchase using this and i can't find a way to reset What should I do? I want to be able to buy apps from iPhone and iPad from this same account and still synch with my mac book and share with my partner's iPod touch.
Any suggestions?We are users, not Apple. We cannot trace your phone, and neither can Apple.
Please change every password you have. Posting your email addresses and Apple IDs on a public forum is insane. Hopefully a Mod will edit them out for you. -
i have moved from an iphone 4 to iphone 5 and have done a back up of my iphone 4 and restored this back up to the iphone 5, but the apps do not appear to have come across. Have I done something wrong? Please can someone tell me how to move my apps across?
After you Restore from backup, sync the iPhone.

A client gave me he's mini Ipad wifi as a gift.
It has all his information:photos, music, contacts, etc. I also took some photos that are in camera roll. I would like to erase everithing and make it totaly mine but don't want to loose my photos and his music which is very good. How should I do???Resetting the settings will reset things like the wallpaper to the default. It wont remove the apps or music.
As the previous poster said, the apps and music will be tied to the previous owners Apple ID, you'll need the password to update the apps and remain authorized to play the music.
I would suggest taking your stuff off (the camera pictures) then erasing all content and settings so the iPad is like new. For privacy reasons alone I would erase the device. I realise you want to keep the music, but since you haven't paid for it (it was purchased under someone elses ID) then it isn't yours to keep, you'll need to write down the tracks and purchase them under your ID. -
The restriction code is set on my iPhone and I didn't set it up. Could I have done something when tethering the iPhone to my MacBook Pro through settings in the MacBook? I'm a new iPhone user. thanks

When importing from camera into aperture, photo's are also copied to my desktop, if i delete from desktop i am unable to edit photo in aperture. Must have done something, but what?
Have a look at your import setting specifically Store Files:
Make sure it is set to where you want the originals to go.

iPhoto has somehow uninstalled itself, or I've done something wrong. If I try to open iPhoto, it gives me this message: "You can't open the application "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete". I have an iMac OS X. How do I reinstall iPhoto please?
What is your iPhoto version and how did you install it originally?
If it came with a new mac and Lion or Mt. Lion installed, you can delete iPhoto from the Applications folder (don't empty the Trash) and download it again from the "Purchased" tab of the App Store.
If you have bought the iLife CD, reinstall iPhoto from the installation media, after deleting it from the Application folder.
Or if your Mac came with an older MacOS X, but iLIfe preinstalled, use the system Install CDs, see Terence Devlin's post here: Re: My iPhoto isn't working. Error message says "you can't open the app "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete.

P.S: This may not only be a problem of a broken iPhoto. What did you do, directly before this happened? Did you run a program, that will clean the Mac to save space, like "Clean My Mac" or "Mac Keeper"? These little helpers can be risky and overdo it and remove too much. Then it might be safer to reinstall your system, because other essential files might be missing now. -

Does the Mail window open? If so, please post a screenshot of the mail window as you see it now. Use command-shift-4 and drag across to take the screenshot, and the camera Icon on the forums to include it in a post. -
Why don't some of the photos I took with my iPhone 4S appear on my iPad 3? Both are connected to WiFi and iCloud is activated on both devices.

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back. -
Ive done something to my icloud. Every time I click on a bookmark it updates and deletes everything. Everything in that bookmark is lost on my iphone and my laptop. How do I retrieve my deleted bookmarks?
If you see next to these bookmarks you are in Edit mode and tapping the bookmark will delete it. If that's the case you need to tap Done to exit this mode.
If you don't see the symbol, try going to Settings>iCloud, turn Safari off, then after a few seconds turn it back on. Then test your bookmarks again. -
