I've downloaded Firefox 4, now cannot access Windows Live Mail and have spent many hours trying to resolve including uninstalling, system restore etc etc

I have a Sony Vaio Desktop (ie high spec) and have not had any software problems until I downloaded FF 4 and lost my WLM. I've tried so many ways to try to resolve this. The Sytem Restore is not working - ebven though I created a restore point for 4 May and disabled all the security settings etc.
I can access my WLM account on my work PC - but note that the address list has gone.

Update: I tried the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" after everything else either fizzled out or hung up. After going all the way thru the recovery process (up to 100%), I finally got an error message.....it didn't work. And now, when I fire up the computer, I don't even get to that menu with the recovery options....the only thing I can boot into is the screens with the various ways to run your OS (in "safe mode", "safe mode with networking", etc).
I'm not a techie, but I'm guessing at this point, the part of my hard drive that got damaged in the fall was, at the very least, the partition with the recovery data. Couple that with the fact that this cheapo Toshiba laptop didn't even come with recovery disk (or ANY kind of disk, even basic installation software!), I'm screwed: I don't see any way to get a workable computer now without some kind of disk to boot from. So NOW my concern is more about spending the $$ for a new OS and THEN finding out the hard drive has other problems too...is broken in some other way to boot.
How to check this? As I said, I did run "chkdsk" back when I could get into the recovery menu and run the fix-it programs. It didn't note any problems. Thinking of taking this opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (which I never liked), but I have to know that the computer is otherwise ok....how to be sure? Help!!

This solution I have already tried; it worked for actually accessing the net (which was my first problem with the new Safari), but I was unable to access my e-mail. I have tried the suggested solution, before I received this message, of emptying my Safari cache after logging on to the net - did not work. still locked out of email. Attempts to logon gets the following in the Safari address line

I am now also getting an ATT message that says "Unknown Destination". That may be an improvement, but certainly not any lead to an answer.
This suggests that there may be a problem w/ ATT, but I need to explore the Safari issue further to in order to be able to push harder on ATT.

This happened to me when I installed 4.0 BETA. I un-installed BETA as I didn't like it. I then used 3.6 but the links opened with Internet Explorer. I re-installed 3.6 and it's now working fine so I would suggest re-installing whatever version you have.

Firefox 7.0.1 causes windows live mail to report problem when link is clicked

When Firefox 7.0.1 is not open and a link in an email is selected (Windows Live Mail), mail reports an error "there was a problem sending the command to the program". The requested website does load after this with no problems. This same error has been previously reported with Firefox 4, however I have only recently had the problem.

Solved (for me). The problem was Roboform 7.5.5. When they updated Roboform to 7.5.6, the issue with Firefox 7 was resolved. Note that the problem did not occur with any other browsers before, and now it is fixed in Firefox 7.

I now cannot access my live files in Dreamweaver

I created a new site in Dreamweaver.
Now I have finished the site which was intended to replace an old one. My brother who has the hosting package for the site said that I needed to create a site within the root folder called /public_html/new so that once it was complete he could transfer the files into the live site /public_html and make my old site public_html/old.(In case we need anything in the future)
All went well and the new site is up. However I am now left with an empty public_html/new folder when I go to the remote button. I need to correct some things that I(and others......I swear it is a case of 'cannot see the wood for the trees' when you have been working on it for a while) did not see before. I cannot connect with the live site because it is in a folder that is not in my dreamweaver site. I cannot do anything because although I have corrected my pages in local view on Dreamweaver when I go to remote to upload I only have the empty folder. I have tried changing the name but it will not let me. What can I do? I have tried synchonizing but that does not work as the public_html/new is not recognized and now has no function? Please please help me I am going mad! The site is up and there are errors that need to be corrected!

No I seem to be having problems explaining this.
In Dreamweaver I have my root folder for the site that was created at the very begining of setting it up Nail-Rockett.
In local view under that I have all my files for the site.
In remote view I also had all the same files.
Under remote, under Nail-Rockett root folder a folder was created called public_html/new
In local this does not exist.
When the files were taken out of Nail-rockett - public_html/new to replace the site that was up they were put into the live folder called public_html.
In Dreamweaver when I go to remote I am left with the public_html/new folder that the files were put in but which is now empty because they have been moved to the live site.
I need to change the folder that says public_html/new in the remote view to public_html and put the files in there that I want to replace on the live site.
Please tell me this makes sense. I have all the files in local view but when I switch to remote I have the public_html/new which is of no use and I think that the files are not uploading because the folder on the site is public_html.
Thanks for your help but I am not further along and really need to make changes but cannot get into the remote site.

I recently upgraded to FF 4. Since then, I am unable to play music or open email with a Windows Media attachment. When I try, I get the following message: "windows media player encountered a problem" I'm given two choices - "close or help". I tried "help" but the possible solutions did not fix the problem.

same here anthoneyc, upgraded my iphone 4 and ipad2 to ios5 using my friends laptop, went home, then upgraded my itunes to 10.5, after which i synced my iphone it worked fine, then connected the ipad2, it just froze on stage 2. contacted apple support and told them that i managed to sync my iphone but not the ipad. i was told to :
1. uninstall itunes using their recommended steps. did that, still have the same problem.
2. i was told to wait for max of 3 hours, stupidly i did that. still froze at step2.
3. i was told to try to sync it on a different computer. did that as well, but still having the same problems.
i then phoned the nearest apple store, told me to restore the ipad using itunes. did that and the whole f thing just froze, now i can't even use the ipad. i was then told to book it in for inspection and hope that they find a fix, or they will have to replace the unit.

I acutally did get it working last night right before I called it quits, but still am having one odd issue.
I set my channel strips up to send to the coreect outputs (backing track to mains, backing track with click to monitor mix), but the click kept jumping back to the main mix. I would set the output to monitors, but when the tracks would play the click track would suddenly play through the mains, and the drop-down output selector would read "Main"?????
I thought it was something at the Concert level, so I changed it there as well, but still no luck.
Haven't ruled out that some of this has something to do with my Mbox Pro settings, but I see nothing there that would be causing issues.
Ever heard of a output changing like that? This happened repeatedly, I kept chaninging it to monitors, it came chaning itself back....crazy.

Being a layman, I am reluctant to follow your advice without assistance of a specialist.
To prevent a misunderstanding I will try to summarize what happened.
1) After using Thunderbird for a long time and having no problem at all to print emails, suddenly I could not print emails anymore.
2) I do not have the same problem with Firefox nor with any other program.
3) I have only one printer.
4) After the problem occurred System recovery was used- for another reason - to start with a clean slate. Thunderbird was reinstalled: but still I could not print emails. When I use windows live mail I can print emails.
Does this change your advice?

have you tried using imap instead?
if you can access your email from the web page then sounds more like a problem with windows live mail and not your BT account

Firefox w/Win 7 and Windows Live Mail does not auto-hyperlink from Send Link. I know cut-and-paste. Is there fix?

On other computer, w/Vista, Windows Mail, clicking Send Link works perfectly, providing one click hyperlink. Running latest Firefox on both computers. Made Windows Live Mail default email. No help. Uninstalled Windows Live Mail and switched to thunderbird, made default. Didn't work.

I'm searching for a solution as well.
For now, when the compose message windows opens with the plain text link, I just click anywhere in the body of the message below the text. This will place the cursor at the end of the link. I then hit Enter, and the hyperlink becomes active.
