I've got the old Ipod touch and i want to update it but i can't!
I've got the old ipod Touch and everytime i want to download something it will say i need an update!! Ive tried nearly everything don't know how to make it work
If you're trying to run an app that requires a newer version of iOS, you may be out of luck. A 1st-generation iPod touch can only run up through iOS 3.1.3, and the 2nd-generation model only up through iOS 4.2.1. If you have one of those models and are trying to run an app that requires iOS 4.3 or later, you will not be able to do so.
If you're not sure of your model, see:

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!I have exactly the same Problem ! iTunes starts downloading the 885MB of the update over and over again, One Cycle takes a Lot of time.

I got the newest iPod and it has a messaging cube like on the iPhone and it will not let me send messages to my friends even with wifi. Please help me with my problem.
Is your device recognized by your computer? If yes, copy the pictures and videos as shown in this article:
Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
If it is not recognized, try this first: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Disable autosync in iTunes, right click on it in the device list and choose "transfer purchases" to copy apps and other media bought in iTunes to your new library.
Do the same again and choose "backup", to create a manual backup without syncing.
Since your device will be erased due to the new iTunes library during the first sync, you can use this backup afterwards to restore your settings and data.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer before you start, to be able to merge calendars and contacts. -
My ipod wont update after 4.2.1 Idk why but now the ipod doesn't try to work right or post anything I put up or get into itunes. What's going on?
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
Identifying iPod models
iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318. -

Just got the old iPod Nano and Apple immediately came out with a second gen
Hi. I bought the 1st generation iPod Nano on Sept. 2, 2006 and literally 2 weeks later Apple introduced a whole new line of iPod's. I am wondering if it's possible for me to exchange my recently purchased 1st generation nano for the new 2nd generation nano. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Intel Inside Pentium 4 Windows XPI'm thinking you might have just got some bad luck there. Try calling Apple or checking with the store you bought it from (some have a 30 return policy...)

I have got an old ipod touch IOS 4.2.1. and i need to update to 5 or 6 ??
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists. -
My daughter got a new ipod touch and set it up using my apple id. Once she sync'ed it, she had all my contacts, so she went ahead and deleted the ones she didn't want. Unfortunately, my iphone then sync'ed to the cloud and all my contacts were wiped out (the ones she deleted).
So, I wiped my iphone and did an icloud backup/restore. This restored all my apps, but my contacts are still the ones from when my daughter did her update. It doesn't appear as though I got back my contacts, even though I chose an icloud backup from before the deletion. Logging into icloud shows the reduced/deleted contacts, not the full list I had, and I can't see a way to revert back to an old copy.
Any ideas? I thought restoring from the cloud would have done it, but the contacts I got were the 'current' copy, not an older/archived copy.
I'd appreciate any ideas. None of the articles I found seemed to address retrieving an 'old' copy of your contacts from the cloud. The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts. Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone. -

I have an old ipod touch, and have just purchased a new 4th Gen one. How do I get my Apps from the old one to the new one. I've had to wipe the hard drive on my Pc so they aren't in my I tunes.
- Transfer your iTunes' purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Try making a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.
- Connect your new iPod and restore the iPod from that backup if you wish. -

- You can redownload yur apps at no additional cost. See:
How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store
- You only get one download of music and it is up to you to make a backup. However, sometimes if you explain what happens the iTunes store may allow a redownload of music. You can contact them by starting here and selecting the appropriate topic:

Warum kann ich iOS 5 nicht downloaden? Es heißt immer zeitüberschreitung.
Ich versuche schon seitdem es iOS5 gibt, jeden Tag es zu downloaden. Jedesmal am Ende des Downloads heißt es: Beim Download der Software ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Versuchen sie es später noch einmal.
