I've gotten a SIM card failure message and lost service 4 times in the past half a day

I've gotten a 'SIM card failure' message and lost service 4 times in the past half a day. Turning the phone off and on fixes it temporarily. Any similar problems? What did you do?

this is definitely not the experience we want you to have with your phone wme1221. I recommend a SIM card pull. What type of phone do you have? Is the phone damaged?

  • SIM card failure on iPhone 5... Sprint

My iPhone 5 has already been replaced due to a screen issue.  Now with the new one I am getting a SIM card failure message.  The message states that the network has failed and my SIM card is locked.  If I power off the phone it works for about 45 minutes then fails again.  I took it to the sprint store and they put a new SIM card in the phone and spent the day checking everything.  It worked for three days and now today I get the SIM card failed message again.  I am going to the apple store again tomorrow...but for my $300 I've received nothing but a device that is unpredictable, and isn't working.  Is this an apple issue? Sprint issue?  My husbands phone works very well with no issues.  Same phone same carrier.  Do I return the phone ?  I am super frustrated.  Please help me resolve this issue.

  • Occasional "No SIM card installed" message on recently-received phone

As part of an AppleCare support matter, I recently received a "new or refurbished" iPhone 3G. Generally it works fine.
Every couple of days I get a "No SIM card installed" message, and "No SIM" appearing where the signals bars usually are. Removing and replacing the SIM card stops the message and the phone works, for a day or two.
The same SIM card worked with no problem in my previous iPhone 3G. It also works with no problem in a plain old GSM phone I use for backup.
    Any suggestions?

Try putting the sim in another phone let it connect and then return it to 3g .Let it reconnect .
Completely fixed the same problem on my iPhone 4

  • Iphone 5 SIM card not installed or no service

Hi from lady few weeks I am having this problem where phone says SIM card not installed or no service. Turning the phone on and off does work but it happens at least ten times a day. I have got a new SIM card thinking its a problem with the SIM card.
But now I have noticed the moment I switch on to 3G mode from the settings it does the same thing.
Can anyone tell me is it the problem with the phone or my service carrier. I have been working iPhone for almost two years never had this problem before.
I am using iPhone 5. Thanks

  • My iphone 4s has been reporting invalid sim/sim card failure intermittently for a week. tried to solve problem permanently - in mid of reset all settings my sim card failed again. help! not backed up on icloud, just itunes.  don't ask. thanks!

my iphone 4s has been reporting invalid sim/sim card failure intermittently for a week. I thought it was a one/two-time thing, so had to manually eject SIM card and put back in.  Today, after it happened twice in 12 hours, someone told me to reset - i thought they meant reset all settings, not network settings.  while in the middle of resetting, there was an invalid SIM card again.  so a few questions - which should i do first?  try to manually back up from itunes (not connected to cloud - will be after tonight!), or eject SIM card?  don't know if one will jeopardize the other.  also, the last time i backed up was 6 days ago - have taken hundreds of pics since then - are those all lost?  is there a way to essentially not reset?  i thought the reset was okay because it said i'd lose no data or media. Help!  thanks much!

  • On my new iPhone 4S, I periodically get a "Sim failure" message and I loose my Verizon connection. To get service back I need to shut down the phone and start it up again.

Have you tried removing and replacing the SIM? If that doesn't work, try a new SIM from Verizon, they will usually swap them out for you for free. If those don't work, you might need to get the phone checked out, it may have a bad SIM port.

ipad can work as a cellphone by putting a SIM card, reciving calls and messages? The messages are send to other cellphones. that don't belong to apple

No.  The iPad cannot make/receive cellular calls or send/receive cellular text messages.  It can only send and receive cellular data, if equipped with 3G.

  • HT1976 I get no Sim Card installed message when trying to use my phone

My phone just stopped working - I get a "No Sim Card Installed" Message.   I have not changed any settings.

So you have not changed anything or updated
try reseating the sim (assume it is a microsim not a hand cut )
    and go through Apple troubleshooting
    Restart ,reset ,restore
May be the sim has gone "bad"

  • N78 Persistent 'Sim Card Registration Message'

     I have scoured the internet for answers on this problem, and i cannot find anyone with the same problem as me, so hopefully one of you could shed some light on this problem;
I recently purchased the N78 from my sister in November-ish of last year, it was a SIM free one, so i was able to put my Three (3) SIM card in (She was recently on 02 if that helps)  it worked fine for say, about a month maybe, until the message 'SIM card registration failed' kept appearing, i just ignored this for a while as i presumed it was something to do with it being on 02 for a bit.  after a few more weeks it kept appearing more and more, at that point all the signal bar went to 0 and i couldn't make or receive calls, unless i switched it off then back on again, after that it worked fine, and i was able to call and send/recieve texts (until the message appeared again).  After a few more weeks this kept happening more and more and I kept missing important calls and texts (as I did not know when it would happen, it just happened at random intervals)I contacted 3 about this problem, and they said it was due to the faulty SIM card, so they sent me a new one, which worked for a while, then the same thing happened again.  So I eventually gave up using this phone altogether, and used it solely for the connection to wireless internet and for the music player, which both worked fine.
Yet, earlier I attempted to put my SIM card back into the phone and it stopped working altogether, the message appeared all the time and i could not make a call or send a text whatsoever.I put the same SIM card into 2 different phones, and it worked fine, except my old Nokia 6288 'SIM Card Registration Failed' kept coming up, and has done for quite some time, but it didn't interfere with sending texts or making calls at all.I put a different SIM card into the Nokia N78, and it works perfectly fine, the message does not appear!
So, in short i cannot use my SIM card in my N78, but i can use it in other phones, yet I can use other SIM cards in this phone with no problem.
Any help at all would be greatly apprecaited.

sees like you have had exactly the same problem as me. my second-last phone was a 6288 and after about a year of use, I had that SIM registration failed message come up. had nothing to do with my network (i am on 3 Australia), and i am sure it was just the firmware of the phone playing up. i just ignored it and restarted the phone when i had to. after a while, it went away. I haven't had the same problems on my N78 that i purchased about six months back, but if you have early firmware version on your N78 (say the original 10.136, 11 or 12.046(, I would suggest seeing if there is an upgrade for your phone. there should be, as 20.149 and 21.002 has been rolled out pretty recently. I am still with 3 and haven't used any other network's SIM card so can't vouch for the experiences you have with other network providers. But as happened with 6288, i don't think its the SIM card or 3 or O2, i think its the phone itself.
if you can't find a firmware update for your phone via NSU or FOTA, then take your phone to a local Nokia Care Centre and they'lll be able to upgrade your firmware for you. hopefully it all goes well for you , tell us how it all goes.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

If T-Mobile in the US, while your phone will activate/work, you won't have FaceTime, MMS or 3G. T-Mobile, in the US, is not a supported iPhone carrier, thus all features of the iPhone may not be available. T-Mobile's 3G network, in the US, is not compatible with the iPhone.

  • No sim card, no signal and showing 3g and going again to no service

bought my iPhone 5 the day it came out, from saudi arabia and every since then i have issues witht the connection, it keeps switching to no sim card or no service, and half the time showing no network from two operators( MOBILY network & JAIN network)
I have powered my phone off
no sim card, no signal and showing 3g and going again to no service
    tried with out wifi
    reset all setting
    reset all network setting
what is the solution for above questions....................

Chiming in from the US, it seems that a lot more of us are having this issue as well lately. My iPad has worked well under 3 OSs and I have never seen that NO SIM message until this week. I am running iOS 5 since it was released, but have not yet upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, and all of a sudden, I see that NO SIM message pretty much all the time.
I have never removed my SIM or had any trouble with 3G before this week. It's not a big problem for me since I don't use it very often at all - not even on a data plan now - but it's annoying and not what I paid for. And if it happens to my wife, she'll be in trouble.
Apple folks, has there been any official acknoeldgement for this issue, and has it been properly elevated so it will be addressed? There are quite a few threads on this out there.

  • In new iPad 4g, when sim card is not inserted, I can not find the enable 4g tap in the setting-cellular data tap, can some one please tell me if this is normal and if so, then when it appears, thanks

If the SIM is out of your phone, find my phone needs a data connection, so could use wifi - IF in range of a wifi and one that it can join (ie. a known network or one that is wholly open so no login required).  Your phone could also simple be turned off, so not findable, or it may have been restored (plugged into iTunes and restored as new) again, making it permanently unfindable.  Honestly, for someone stealing an iPhone, this is likely the first thing they do - restore as new and it is theirs forever.
Find my iPhone is tied to the users iCloud account - the find function is part of the iCloud account's services and it communicates with the iCloud servers over a data connection - either wifi or 3G.
Have you set up your iCloud account on your replacement phone, and is it working properly on that phone?

Compare the roaming charges from the German carrier with services like those:
