I've had it with this website.

I recently got this new printer, and it works perfectly on my windows computer. But then I tried it on my linux computer, and I got extremely frustrated. It just said it was a paperweight on OpenPrinting.org, and everytime I go on the product page, I can see the "Software and Drivers" tab for a split second, and then it disappears. I went on the HP Support drivers page, but it took me back to that frustrating page. I tried even changing the user agent to try tricking the site, but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Robbie,
I understand that everything is working with Windows but not with your Linux system.  To assist with the issue you're encountering with the HP Support Web site, below are direct links to the HP Sponsored web site for HP Linux print drivers (great new\s, the DeskJet 2544 is suuported with most Linux distributions!)

Is this a Safari issue or a Dice issue, or both?

    My post
The font size is WAY WAY too small, and I have had some other issues as well. One of which is when I close the browser window and come back to a thread and hit the reply button, I am taken to some search screen, and have to completely log out and log back in before I can reply. Its very annoying and needs to be done everytime I reply to a post. I have deleted all my cookies, cleared my cache, etc.. I am thinking its a issue with how this website talks with safari but I could be wrong. I could ISOLATE the problem by creating or logging into another Mac account I setup for testing problems, but I am too lazy to do so, as I am thinking this is a Dice + Safari issue because I never had the problems when I used FireFox full time.
    John

I bet a donut that the problems I am experiencing have nothing to do with logging in as a admin. I bet its a Dice + Safari issue.

Oh no! Lets ensure that you are connected. Have you tried to reset the Network Extender? Are other devices able to connect to the Extender? Is your Internet service up and running?

This problem occurs if the client computer's clock is set so that the date/time is later than the expiry date of the web server's SSL certificate.
Why would the certificate of a brand new router be expired?

  • What's with this website?

I've been having a heck of a time viewing this Discussions forum for the last couple of weeks. The window looks fine when I first log on as a guest. But as soon I log on under my own account, it goes haywire. The first screen I get after I log in as myself is an error notice. It says something about there being an error. I say "something" because the left inch or two of the screen is cut off. You see the word "Store" in the menu band up above? That's the last word on the left of my display. As I type this I see below it the words "iscussions" and "essage: New Thread."
Up until a couple of weeks ago my browser had no trouble adjusting the width of this website to the width of my display. Now, as long as I am logged in on my own account, I can't see the left side of the screen.
I'm using Netscape 7.01 on a Performa 6400 running 9.1 with a Portrait Pivot 1700. (Sure, they're antiques, but they work.) And, it doesn't matter whether I view the webpage in landscape or portrait mode. I can't see the left side of the sreen either way.
I did check out the website with Internet Explorer. I think I might have been able to get in with IE, but, when I tried again a few minutes ago, I got a Type-2 error, and IE quit.
Is there anyway I can get Netscape to work here?

Apple widened the pages on Apple Discussion, because, they think most people using newer Macs have a large display. You can drag the lower right corner to make the page max for your display.
I switched to Mozilla for OS 9 & like it better than IE. It works on web pages that IE has problems with. Plus, Mozilla has a pop-up ad blocker & a password manager. Download Wamcom's Mozilla browser at:

  • Augmented Thesaurus and 'About' queries - Anyone had luck with this?

    Hi:
I'm trying to find the magic combination of things that make About queries find RTs, BTs, NTP etc. in "About" queries using an augmented thesaurus. Has anyone had any success with this? Perhaps I am just wrong in what I expect About queries to return hits on. Perhaps I am not clear as to the specific format rules of the thesaurus file? I'd appreciate hearing from those who use this capability. I'm using 10.1.0.3

    Hi guys
Now I set the wholething up with nvidia card. I have been using linux from around 96 onwards and at first my 512kb matrox card was amazing. Now I have a 512mb card ! what a change. Any I am impressed that xorg does not need a config file. That is a long way and a good job. Also the new xfce and fluxbox types are so much more polished than the cde and twm.
I did not try to save all the xorg logs. I have two desktops and when ever I tried intel or intel-newest drivers the new desktop always hung. So I used to go from the old desktop and ssh in to the test rig. If the xorg windows showup then xorg logs show that they are using vesa and resolution looks as it does for vesa! However this only happened when I used legacy drivers. With any other it just does not show anything and it does say loading intel driver and IIRC 915class.
I suppose I should have persevered and made it work for the sake of trying but let it slide as I always liked the stability of nvidia and just went back to them for 30 bucks.
    Thanks
    sree

  • IE10 There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

I have seen lots of posts but no answers.
I have Windows 8 Pro RTM installed from MSDN. I am running IE10 and I go to my Linksys router and get the usual certificate error. In all previous versions of IE, you could just click continue and move forward. IE10 does not all this, please let me know
where this setting is so I can use IE10, I hope I am not forced to use Chrome. Also there is no option to run as IE9 for some reason.

Not sure why Windows 8 is such a pain...
Those of you just blindly applying this command should really try to get your heads around why Carl_W's workaround is
    NOT a fix
at all, and why Microsoft is not making the software (in this case at least) a "pain" for unfounded reasons.
Follow the link that Carl posted and read about why it is that the software now requires a much longer minimum key length.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2661254
The general idea is that at one time, not so long ago, computers weren't nearly as powerful as they are today, and it was practically impossible to crack security with a key length of 512 bits.  Computers (and notably GPUs) got hugely faster and
lo and behold now just about anyone can afford a system that can derive the private key for a 512 bit public key in just a short amount of time.
That which was once considered strong security protection is now rendered weak.
Would you rather Microsoft make it convenient for someone to, say, spoof your bank's web site and create a web page that would grab up your account information when you log in?
    I didn't think so.
To really fix the problem, if your little router or old internal server has an invalid security certificate with a short key, you
should figure out what it is going to take to make it valid, rather than opening your
entire browsing experience up to a security risk.   Actually, you
should have done it before, when all you had to do was click the "Continue to the web site... (not recommended)" link.
The certutil command above is not unlike your spouse saying "honey, I locked myself out of the car" and you deciding the
fix is to just not lock the doors.

  • TSLicence: have you had problems with this file

If you have, and I had major issues requiring me to erase and reinstall the OS, not once but several times, listen up: if you cannot open iTUnes, if all it does is bounce a few times in the dock and then die, you may (or may not) get a warning about "TSLicense..." Spotlight will not locate it. Using the finder you will not locate it. You have to go to library: frameworks and just delete the **** thing. Now maybe this license is part of what is attached to, and controls the allowable viewing time of, rented movies from the iTunes store. I don't know and at this point, after an incredibly exhausting two days with Tech Support (and getting a new hard drive installed under warranty), I think by deleting this folder I have my iTunes back. So no more rentals for this puppy: I"m going to go down the street to the store to rent movies. Way way way too much of a headache to bother with the "convenience" of downloaded rentals. (I don't have any problems with the movies I have purchased, by the way.) I hope this saves someone else tons of time. ANd if, by chance, "TSLicense..." is a regular feature of all iTUnes movie rentals, well. Someone better figure out why it was causing this user (and, I'm sure, others) to not be able to open iTunes.

I do recommend that anyone who is having weird issues with iTunes try Dave's suggestion of UNINSTALLING Flip4Mac and see what happens (but will an uninstall get rid of this particular file? who knows).
Good point, and something I should not have trusted without confirming. I just tried it and the uninstaller does not remove that framework. That's a serious "oops" on the part of Telestream (and I did confirm that the Flip4Mac installer does install that framework). The framework folder will need to be removed manually.
    Regards.

  • What is wrong with this website? The client is being VERY vague

I'm kind of annoyed because whenever I call him, he just says something is wrong with it but won't say EXACTLY what. This is my first project, so it isn't going to be great, which is probably why the first guy is a minecraft server host. You gotta start somewhere though, and at least I get paid. There is something that is a bit off, but I don't know what it is, and neither does the guy... Have any feedback? The blank spot in the middle for the home page is an embedded YouTube video of their server and the blank tiles below show live server status for each server, but they didn't show up in the picture.

You mentioned server status being on the website which probably means you need to send some sort of message of reliability, I'm not really seeing that here.
The whole site doesn't look very modern - and maybe that's the point, with it being for MineCraft - but if so the MineCraft card has been over played here.
I'd lose a lot of the gunge, the shadows and lighting effects/filters & use more solid, less in your face colours - the yellow and green you have chosen really don't go.
Generally use the MineCraft visual language much more sparsely. To finish on a positive I like the layout, keep that.
Like you said, it's a first go - in that case it's class. My first was certainly a lot worse than this, mostly everything just needs dialing down. Stay away from filters and effects and just concentrate on the layout, the typography, using the right colour, etc. at first.
    Hope this helps,
    Charles
