I've had my old ipod forever and want to transfer the music to my new account. Problem was is that these songs were purchased on my ex's computer by me adding money through gift cards I recieved or through a cc of mine and theres about $1200
worth and i've heard horror stories from other people saying they created a new account under their name after the breakup and it cleared their ipod. So question is, is it safe to do without losing songs. If songs are lost does apple have a way to find out what was on the ipod and be able to retrieve them.
This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:

As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

i was given an ipod by a friend due to them buying a newer ipod. I want to transfer the music that is currently on the ipod to my itunes without having to sync my ipod and delete the music. Any suggestions?
Without even knowing if Apple's DRM would permit this, if you are in the U.S. then that's copyright infringement.

You cannot.

hi, I have recently upgrad to a new laptop. I have downloaded itunes, and want to transfer my entire itunes library from myold laptop to the new one. how do i do that? Also, shouldn't my purcased music automatically download onto new laptop now I've authorised it?
ThanksOK I have done this recently and I found the answer by googling it......remember to import your new library.xml file to the new laptop as well!
Here is how you keep that precious library data eg playlists, ratings etc....
On your old laptop open iTunes - File - Library - Export Library and save the Library.xml file to somewhere you can easily transfer to your new laptop (eg a hard drive).
Then copy your music to your new location.
Open iTunes on your new laptop - Edit - Preferences - Advanced - Change Location
Enter the path to the new location of your files.
OK now here's the part I am confused about.....I think you de-select the keep iTunes organised and de-select copy music to iTunes options in the Advanced tab before closing it.
You will not see the music listed in iTunes yet, don't worry, we're getting to that next.
Go to to File - Library - Import Library and import the Library.xml file you exported from your old laptop.
Your new music files should then appear in iTunes with their info (ratings, play counts, playlists etc) still intact.
Then you can change the advanced settings back to whatever you like.
A side note and a Word of warnning - disaster resulted for me when I let the newest versison iTunes reorganise my files according to iTunes preferences - half the music had broken links after that including ones in my many playlists Boo hoo -
My old computer crashed and I was unable to save the music files that I had imported using CDs but I have the music on my IPOD touch. How can I transfer the music from my IPOD without haveing to import the CDs again? My purchases have been transferred with no problem. Thank you

I am wanting to have my music available to me, but not actually on the new laptop (like my iPhone is set up to do). I suppose I am wanting to know if I can transfer, or authorize my new laptop to have all of my music in iCloud, but not actually in iTunes on the laptop? I want it available to me, but I have over 7000 songs and I don't want to use all the room on my new laptop. Can someone please help?

How do I move music imported from my old CD collection onto my iPod, which I did not retain on my old PC as there was not enough memory. I no longer have all the CDs so cannot import them to my new PC, so want to copy them directly off my iPod Classic to my new PC.
How do I do that?
ThanksYou cannot do it (transfer song files from iPod to computer) using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download previous purchases using the iTunes Store Purchased screen).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can be used to transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer's hard drive, drag them (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window to add them to your new computer's iTunes library. -
If i had an iphone3 and want to download the music to my 5, how would i do that
just curious if there is a way to download the music from my iphone 3 itunes to my 5 itunes?
All of your music should be on your computer. Just sync it to the new iphone.
Nothing should ever be on your iphone only. -
I need to find a way to transfer music from my itunes on the pc to my Mac pro.
If they are iTunes purchases then you should be able to copy them over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes 11 on your computer) - that should also copy any other purchases over e.g. apps etc.
If it's music from other sources (e.g. CDs) and you don't have them on your computer nor on a backup then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them off : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Before starting the update you may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. -
I have a nano and want to transfer my music to my new iPad, in all the excitement of setting up my iPad I created a new apple Id and now I can't sync my music!
Can someone please advise if there is a way to transfer my music to my iPad manually? If so, please detail step by step, as I am technologically challenged! Thanks in anticipation. You can search within your music folder on your pc, or within documents folder for a music folder.
In any case, you would need to sync with itunes

If the music was purchased from the itunes store, you can also download it directly from there to the ipad. -
I have a music collection on my iPod (160GB Classic). I have that collection on my old Mac Book. Now I have a new Mac Pro and want to transfer the collection to the new Mac Pro, is that doable?
Thanks roaminggnome. Can I do that transfer wirelessly or do I have to get a large jump drive to copy and transfer. I presume that I cannot use my iPod right?

my iPod was originally connect to an old HP. The HP has since died and now I own a Macbook pro. I want to transfer the music from my iPod (originally synced with the HP) to my Macbook Pro. Is this possible without losing the music on my iPod?
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

Bought an iPod Classic. First iPod, had a Zen for years, I want to transfer my music library, approximately 15,000 songs without creating an iTunes Media library. All of the music is currently in WMA format. As you can imagine, 15,000 songs takes up a lot of space and I do not wnat it duplicated on my harddrive in an iTunes Media Library. What are my options?-Shawn
Change your mind, or change your device.
You can't put wma files on an iPod classic. You can't put files onto an iPod without adding them to a media library first.

I have had Aperture since version 1.0 and bought every upgrade. Now I want to transfer the software to my new iMac but I have to enter the original Serial number that I cannot locate. Any ideas what I can do, please?
The original serial number should be in the box with the installer disk.
If you cannot locate the serial number, contact Apple for a replacement serial number. You will need to provide a proof of purchase.
See: Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers
Regards
Léonie
P.S. The menu command "Aperture > About Aperture" will show you your Aperture 3 serial number on your old mac, but not the previous serial numbers.
