I've had no problem whatsoever with itunes for months, and now out of nowhere it wont show any songs on shuffle even though i have it clicked to my library, it says none are available. Whenever I play songs on a playlist it wont move to the next song, will only play one song and stop. it does this throughout itunes. I tried repairing and reinstalling

You unchecked all the songs.
To the left of the song name is a little box. When you click it, it turns blue and a checkmark appears in it.
iTunes will only "automatically" play songs that are checked.
You can check/uncheck all the songs in your visible list by holding CTRL while checking/unchecking one of them.

Hi Thomas,
I can confirm the problem you are hitting. The XML test trace does not get recognized at all, and it defaults to Eclipse's basic Open File behaviour. I am not sure if it's because the format definition is missing, or if it's because something prevents the trace type from being recognized. I will open a bug about it.

This past month I have been having problems connecting to my home wireless connection. I have a MacBook Pro OSX Version 10.6.8. Previously I had no problems whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the wireless router, turning off the wirless airport, deleting the network name from my list of servers and trying to reconnect this way. These methods have worked temporarily, but the same problem keeps coming back. Most of the time my personal wireless connection does not even come up among the list of available networks. My fellow flatmates have PCs and both of them are able to connect to the network without problem.
The router is a d-link model DIR-615. I am not tech savy, so if any other information need to be provided in order to better understand my situation, please let me know.

If I open the list of networks in a window it says "connection timeout," but if I just select it from the drop down it tries for awhile and then stops with no prompt. When I try to run network diagnostics it says "sorry, we can't connect to the internet" (or some solution-free variation of that)

I don't want to "erase" or lose any information when I sync with a new itunes that is "empty"
What are the steps? After I download Itunes and set the folder location to my external harddrive what is next? Will Itunes recognize my IPOD? Will it load the music/list from my ipd or external into itunes?

It sounds like you are getting this error code when you are trying to access the iTunes Store.
I found this article with this error listed in the symptoms section, for you that should help troubleshoot the issue named:

Resolution
The cause for these issues is a program that monitors the Winsock protocol for Windows conflicting with Apple software. These programs usually use a Layered Service Provider (LSP) that can help identify the particular program installed. The programs that monitor this protocol have a variety of purposes, including security software, content filtering, and optimization of network traffic.
To find the LSP:
Download Autoruns for Windows from Microsoft
Look for Autoruns.ZIP and open the compressed folder.
After reviewing the contents and the license, drag autoruns.exe to the desktop.

Click on the tab that says Winsock Providers.
A list of items should appear. A column showing the publisher should be available.

Whether you can re-download music depends upon what country that you are in (and whether it remains in the store). If you don't have a Music section in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone for re-downloading it, then do you not have you library on your computer's iTunes or on your backup of your downloads ? If not then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download

The problem is with itunes 7.4.2 I could log onto itunes before I updated

Until I upgraded to version 7.4.2 I had no dramas whatsoever logging in to the itunes store. It seems more than a little crazy that so far the only "fix" is to uninstall itunes, delete all of my music files and then reinstall an older version of itunes. Clearly the fault is in the software. Where's a fix for this?

First, I'd suggest you correct your profile, since I doubt that you're running Windows ME (iTunes doesn't work on ME). Posting the correct information will help people offer appropriate solutions when you ask a question.
As to the problem, it's difficult to offer advice when you include no details, but if the problem is connecting to the iTunes Store in general, are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? There have been many reports that some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from connecting (or in some cases from running at all). So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
Check the settings for your utility and if necessary remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes (consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure). You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.

Apple say that its a driver problem, but I've never had this problem before so I am not convinced. Another thread, which I can't seem to find, suggests that it is an apple problem - itunes plays with the ports on the company causing conflicts with existing drivers. I isolated the conflict to my new Samsung printer. I uninstalled the Samsung printer driver and then can successfully connect my ipad without the blue screen appearing.
It's not a windows problem. Windows is working fine. Only happens when Ipad is connected. Actually, this first happened after I installed the new version of itunes. I reget installing the new itunes version, but don't know how to reinstall the previous itunes version.

I have tried everything even uninstalling & reinstalling Itunes for the 64bit. All the troubleshooting steps provided in Itunes help. I am experiencing similar issues. iPod is recognized, brand new PC, have 8GB of memory and a 2TB HDD, and I keep getting an error saying I don't have enough memory and the iTunes library file can't be saved. Then the program will freeze up and I have to Ctrl/Alt/Delete to exit, and half my songs I checked are unchecked upon restarting.
I think it's an iTunes issue, not a hardware issue.
The problem is Apple simply doesn't care. I think they put bugs in the Windows versions to try to force customers onto their products.
I NEVER had this issue with the 32-bit versions of iTunes either.

New computer, problems now with iTunes

We very recently upgraded our computer to a HP and have Windows 7. Downloaded iTunes 64 and all seemed OK. We have 2 x iPod Touches (one each for kids) and I have an iPhone 4S. Tried to open iTunes with one of the iPods and figured out that I had to authorise new computer. Done. Also had to transfer over from old computer to new computer ???? library (cant remeber now AARRGGHH). Think i did that correctly. Problem is now when I link up either Apple device with iTunes via cable (no WI FI) iTunes will not open up automatically, need to shut computer off and restart, iTunes screen freezes and although it shows what apps are on each Apple devive they are all shown superimposed ontop of each other on one sreen. Any help/suggestions will be appreciated. i have already removed iTunes and downloaded the programme twice.

IPhone - Problems Syncing with iTunes

Hi,
Can anyone help with a an iPhone syncing issue:
- I recently upgraded to iTunes 9.0.1 and my 3GS (OS3.1) will no longer sync smoothly with iTunes.
On connection:
- iPhone shows up in iTunes Devices list
- iTunes displays the message "An iPhone has previously been synced with this computer"
- iTunes then asks me to "SET UP YOUR iPHONE" - giving only two options:
.... [ SET UP A NEW iPHONE ]
.... [ RESTORE A BACKUP OF iPHONE (Pulldown) ]
- At this stage I have no other options available.
So, not wanting to set up a new iPhone, because it isn't, I try the "RESTORE" option, which I don't really want to do, but it's an up to date copy of the iPhone... So not a biggie. It runs for a while then restarts.
Now, none of this is a huge problem, but it's a real pain in the a*se having to restore the iPhone each time it's connected to the Mac.
Any ideas?
