I've installed Adobe Flash, but the website still tells me to download the newest version?

I'm on a new mac computer, I need to know how to get Adobe Flash up and working. I've tried uninstalling then installing again, but it's still not working.

Click Safari>Reset Safari
See if that does it. If not, I have detailed instructions for a clean install here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1343084

You can check the version under Apple Menu > System Preferences > Flash Player. Did you quit and restart Safari after the install?

  • Install Adobe Flash Player Update.. I do not want the Google tool bar or whatever.

How to install w/o the Google stuff.

I find the easiest way to install Adobe Flash is to use the manual installers. You just need to download the installer to your computer, then run it to install Flash. For more details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller
That link states you should uninstall earlier versions, as you don't have the version of Flash used by Firefox you can skip that step.

You are asking in the forum for Apple's defunct office suite AppleWorks. I would ask the Hosts to move your question to an appropriate forum but as you haven't stated your operating system it's not clear which this should be.
Please go to the list here:

  • Firefox keeps asking me to install adobe flash, but it will not install unless one clicks the 'edit options' button which it says is on a toolbar, but it is not there

clicking the 'edit options button is in teh instructions for downloading adobe flash...firefox 3.6.10, windows XP desktop

Ignore those instructions. I find the easiest way to install Flash is to use the manual installers, for details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

  • I have installed Adobe Flash but firefox does not show as plugin

I have downloaded the most recent versions of Firefox (30.0) and Adobe Flash Player. The Adobe website tells me my flash player is installed and current but Firefox does not show it as a plug in and a site that requires flash player (google finance) to view charts does not work. The place for the chart remains blank after telling me it has loaded.
    Any thoughts?

When a page is using a plugin, usually an icon similar to a piece of Lego appears in the address bar. You can click the logo to check that Flash is allowed to run on the page, or approve it to run if it isn't.
I randomly picked a stock and enlarged the chart and got the following URL. Any luck with this one: http://www.google.com/finance?chdnp=1&chdd=1&chds=1&chdv=1&chvs=maximized&chdeh=0&chfdeh=0&chdet=1405540800000&chddm=1173&chls=IntervalBasedLine&q=NASDAQ%3AAAPL&ntsp=0&fct=big&ei=YJzGU_iiEZSziALE4oCYCg

  • Installed Adobe Flash but it doesn't run well on Chrome...

First, sorry if my english isn't perfect. I'll try to make me understand..
I have adobe flash installed on my pc. It works on Firefox. But with Chrome it seems it doesn't run well. I can see the videos in Chrome. But when I go on websites like Issuu.com to see a file (you know, like a book where you can turn the pages) it doesn't work. It doesn't even start. The same happens when I go on browser games that use flash: the screen shows the loading bar but at some point it stops loading (but it doesn't crash). In some other games it loads but the game looks with some errors and doesn't run correctly.
I have uninstalled adobe flash then reinstalled it but nothing.
I have restarted the pc but nothing.
I have typed "chrome:plugins" and disabled one of the two adobe flash files but nothing.
I have cleaned the Chrome cookies and cache with CCleaner but nothing.
I have deleted the Flash Player folders but nothing.
What else should I do? I have also reinstalled Chrome but still nothing.
    Can you help me?
Below is an example of how an in-game pic looks in Chrome. It is cutted!

What is your operating system & version?
    What is your web browser?
You downloaded Flash Player, but did you also install it?
    What exactly means "doesn't work/run"?

  • HT5655 Has Adobe Flash Player been blocked again.  I can download the image and proceed to installing; however, installation of flash prompts me to select update methods.  I cannot select update or not update.  I also cannot click on NEXT.

Has Apple blocked Flash Player again, listing it in the block list.  I am able to download the image from Adobe, and begin the install process.  Once I get to the option to select update Flash automatically or not, I cannot select an option or click on NEXT to finish the installation.  Thoughts?

Adobe's Flash Player Install Manager was updated about a week ago.
I suggest trying the download from Adobe's site here:

  • I've had a problem installing Adobe Flash Player; also with Firefox. Tried to download a new FF; it goes crazy! keeps repeating an opening page! Now I don't have FF installed, or Flashplayer, and I think these problems are connected. Help!

Mac OSX 10.5.8 system. Problems have been ongoing with the Firefox I had installed a while ago: would open browser in Safari, and FF would take over; keep asking me to personalize my browser program. In truth, Firefox was kind of "taking over", and I wasn't happy with it. Usually open the internet in Safari.
Present problems started with trying to download, install and open a few new games. Kept telling me I needed to install Adobe Flashplayer. I could download it, but it wouldn't install. Downloaded both the Flashplayer installer AND the Flashplayer uninstaller a number of times. Today, I decided to get rid of the Firefox on my hard drive and download a newer version - then try again to download Flashplayer and install. The new FF download just kept opening a new browser page.

What is your current Flash Player version: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html ?
What is your display adapter, driver version & date?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765

  • I have downloaded and 'installed' Mavericks, restarted but it's still 10.8.5 and the Mavericks Install is still in my Applications folder.  I've done this three times, still no result.  Help!?!

Can anyone help with this?  I've searched the help databases and can't seem to find an answer to this anywhere.

Do  you have the 5.3 GB Mac OS X Mavericks installer application? Please do the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Now try installing Mavericks, but before you do I recommend you put a copy of the installer in your Downloads folder and make a backup of your current system.

  • Upgraded to Mavericks, updated iWork and iLife apps, update still tells me to download the update

So I spent all day downloading all the 'Free' updates which was fine, although 14GB later, so huge, they should have USB version but anyway the problem is, I installed Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iPhoto and iMovie perfectly fine, but the App Store keeps telling me updates available and they are the same version as I just downloaded. Although iPhoto is weird even though is says copyright 2013 it says iPhoto '11 - i would gather it should say iPhoto '13 but it doesn't look any different except the new icon.
    Anyone else have this issue?

I did a support chat with Applecare, and was told to try repairing the permissions for my boot drive (Macintosh HD) via Disk Utility, and then try reinstalling the updates one more time.  There were quite a number of incorrect permissions (I was surprised), so we'll see if it helps...
I was also told that clearing the App Store preferences might do the trick:
To pull the plist file for App Store, what we want to do is:
    1. Open Finder and click on the Go menu in the  Apple Menu Bar.
    2. Hold down the Option key and choose Library
    3. Open the Preferences folder and locate this file
    com.apple.AppStore.plist
    4. Go ahead and move that file to your desktop, then quit out of App Store
    5. Reopen App Store and try to replicate the issue
    6. If this solves the problem, go ahead and move com.apple.AppStore.plist on your desktop to the trash
So now that I've reinstalled the iWork "updates" for a third time, and Mac App Store seems happy, we'll see if the fixed permissions and plist file does the trick.
I'll update if the ghost updates return
    Hope this helps!

  • I have downloaded the newest version (3.6.13) twice and it stills tells me to download the latest version. Why?

Every time I download the latest version of 3.6,13, there is a message telling me my computer is no longer protected (my security tells me everythiing is okay) and to download the newest version. I have already done this twice and would like to know if there's something I'm doing wrong. I've downloaded before and never had this problem

You already have the latest version of Firefox and don't need to updated it. The problem is that your Firefox version information has been locked at ''2.0.0.16'' by the EGAMES extension. To fix this issue, you need to '''reset your user agent'''. The instructions can be found in this article: [[Websites or add-ons incorrectly report incompatible browser]].
