I've just changed my modem, and I can't find my time capsule

I've just changed my bigpond modem, and have joined all my other hardware to the new modem (Apple TV, iphones, iMac etc), but now my time machine can't locate my time capsule which was used as a back up. it just doesn't appear in Airport Utilities. Have rebooted everything, and the internet connection is fine, but that **** amber light won't stop blinking.

I'll guess that "bigpond" unit is either a router or a combination modem and router. You can probably get AirPort Utility to "see" the Time Capsule if you connect your Mac to it with an Ethernet cable. Then you can see why the Time Capsule isn't happy. If the two devices are too far apart to make a cable feasible, then do a "factory default reset" of the Time Capsule and reconfigure it.

Hello. I jus tbought mine and will be setting up shortly. So I am only guessing here, based on how my airport extreme base station acted when I switched once. When you connect the ethernet to it, it should simply find the signal,a nd prompt you for the password information that you set up with the new ISP.
If not, please report back how it goes..

You must reset the TC to factory and start over. The TC simply remembers too much from the previous setup to work in the new one.
If your new router is going to take the router role, then the TC will have to be bridged and you will lose your Guest wireless.. the way around this is to use the Verizon router as your guest wireless and the TC as your main wireless.
The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Factory reset Gen 5
Hold in reset for about 5sec until the status light flashes quickly.
If your AirPort Time Capsule still doesn’t respond, do a similar reset to the Gen1-4.
Unplug your AirPort Time Capsule .. hold in reset and power the TC back on.. without releasing the reset.. wait until status led flashes rapidly.

New non-apple modem/router can't find old Time Capsule

I've been using a Time Capsule for both backup and wifi for years. But now I have a brand new modem/router (non-apple). I wanted to turn off the wifi on the Time Capsule and just use it for backup. I found instructions on how to do that and did it, but when I went to update to the new settings there was an error and now my system cannot find the Time Capsule, even though it is plugged in, connected and showing a steady green light. The TC is connected to the modem via ethernet and did show up long enough for me to change the settings so I'm confident I have the right physical setup. I've tried restarting both my computer and the TC, but Airport Utility still can't detect a device. What do I do now?

Full factory reset on the TC..
Then plug into it directly with ethernet and do the configuration.. bridge mode.. off wireless if you want.. although there is nothing wrong with still running the wireless and the 5ghz is much faster than using wifi usually on a Mac at least from close range. Update and plug the TC back into the modem.. this is usually necessary whenever you move things around.
The Factory Reset.
Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.

New internet provider (moved from Comcast to Uverse) and I can't get my new network to stay put, and I can't get my Time Capsule to stop blinking yellow

I have moved from Comcast to Uverse, and can't get my TIme Capsule to stop blinking yellow. I know it isn't updating. Additionally, I can't get my computer to recognize the 'new' wireless network. It keeps changing back to the 'old' network.

You have two separate issues here. although both were created with the recent changes on your network.
Find out why the Time Capsule is blinking amber as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the the Time Capsule icon
Click directly on the amber dot....and another window will open to explain more about the issue...along with suggested actions that you can take to remedy the issue.
If you want your Mac to connect first to the "new" network....
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Open Network
Click on WiFi on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
Make sure that the name of the network that you want the Mac to connect to first appears at the top of the connection order list. Drag the name to the top if it is not there now.
Click OK
Click Apply
Now your Mac will attemp to connect first to the network that you positioned at the top of the connection order list.

I was talking about how much I liked the Mozilla search with friends and when I looked at my home page the search engine had changed to Google. Also, when looking at all the instructions that referred to the Firefox box, I did not see it and I do not ever remember seeing the Firefox box at the top of the page.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).
You see the orange Firefox button when the menu bar is hidden
*In current Firefox versions it is possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar to make the (orange) Firefox button appear.
*Tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to bring up the menu bar temporarily if you need to access a menu on it.

Changed router box - and can't re-connect time capsule ?

I have upgraded my wlan router box - and therefore changed my network name - and i can't reconnect my time capsule. In airport utility it doesn't pick it up. Please help ?

Your Time Capsule was programmed to remember the settings to "join" your "old" wireless network. It is still looking for that network to connect, but cannot because the network is no longer there.
You will need perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule and reconfigure it again with the correct settings for your new wireless network.
I am sure that you know the name of the network, but you may not know the exact type of wireless security that your new wireless router is using.
Check your documentation to find out about this, as you will need to provide the Time Capsule with the correct information to join the new network.
If the Time Capsule does not receive the right settings, it will not be able to join the network and you will see a blinking amber light instead of green on the Time Capsule after you save the configuration settings by clicking Update.
The Factory Default Reset is a bit tricky....you almost need 3 hands.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
Wait 4-5 minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in for another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow approximately 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Continue to follow the guided setup to configure the Time Capsule to "join" your wireless network
A green light about 25-30 seconds after you click Update will signal a successful setup. If you only get the blinking amber light...you will need start all over with the Factory Default Reset and try again.
The reset will not affect the existing backups on your Time Capsule, but you will need to reset Time Machine again to get backups going. Post back if you need info on this.

Can't reset my time capsule using reset button and I don't have the password to get into reset it.

I can't reset my time capsule b/c the reset button broke off when my time capsule fell off my shelf. I can't remember the password to the disk or time capsule to do a manual reset and I can't access the time capsule. Any suggestions around this?

Bob's suggestion is the best, as the old passwords should be stored on that computer.
If you need to do it .. the hard way.. just open the TC.
You need a heat gun (hair dryer on hottest setting works fine).. to heat the rubber mat up to very hot.. I usually take 5min or more just heating it, evenly as possible. Lift on one corner and keep heating whilst peeling off the rubber. I use a pair of leather garden gloves as it needs to be so hot you cannot hold it for long.
Really hot the rubber easily peels off with all the glue on the rubber.
Now undo the 10 small philips head screws and carefully lift up the aluminium base plate. There is a fan plugged into the board so don't pull. You can disconnect the plug carefully and lift it completely off.
You can then press the reset switch with a small screwdriver or the like.. careful not to short anything if you use metal.
The plastic lever should still be rolling around inside the TC.. when I look carefully at the plastic, the lever is inserted later.. not part of the one moulding.. there are two plastic stakes, which are heated and bent down like a rivet to hold the lever in place. You may be able to relocated the lever onto the plastic stakes with some glue.. use a good 5min epoxy rather than instant glue.. although on ABS plastic the instant glue works very well. Use the glue under and on top but a tiny amount, otherwise you will simply glue the lever to the body and it will never work again. You might be able to make it stay.. just be very gentle if you ever need to press it again.
You can try a more permanent repair.
Plastic flexing as hinges is not an engineering solution .. but you can get a scrap of metal, thin brass would be ideal... drill a hole in one end and use a small dia screw.. I would tap it and run a screw from the inside, using a short screw so only the end of the screw is visible. Coat the inside with silastic so it cannot short anything. Depends on your handyman type skills I guess.

This should really be unnecessary but anyway..
If you mean the internal IP of the TC, the it can be changed by changing the dhcp settings.. which is weird.
It looks a bit different in the v6 utility but is easy to do..
See the DHCP beginning address is split into sections.. change the front section from 10.0 to 192.168
Then update the TC.. then you will need to change everything on the network as the IP will need to change.. I recommend you simply turn everything off and then on again in correct order.. modem.. TC.. clients. 2min gap.
