I've just restored my phone (3g) from backup but my contacts haven't restored? Help!

I had to send my phone to be repaired and it was wiped. I did a backup first and after restoring it the pictures are all back on (phew!) but my contacts haven't restored. Do I need to do something? It's a 3g.

I'm sorry it turned out this way. But when you sync in the future, when the iPhone is connected in iTunes, you have the option to sync the contact and the list to the right of that selection box will show what you can sync with. As I said earlier, you can sync with Windows Contacts which you already have. That will not require you to get any other software. That way everytime you connect the iPhone to the computer and perform a sync, your contacts will be synced and they will be the same on the computer and the iPhone. You do not have an application to sync the calendar to though, and that is something you may want to look into if you use the calendar regularly. This is where the wireless syncing of Google can help. Check out the Google page for information on that. I don't use it so I can't tell you a lot of information about it, but many people swear by it.

What happens if I restore my new iPhone from backup but keep the old phone on?

I currently have an iPhone 5 and have the 6+ on the way. I'm worried about the size of the 6+ so I'd like to test it out for the 14 day period. If I set up the 6 by restoring from iCloud backup can I still keep my 5 up and running. I wasn't planning on transferring my cell service over to the 6 yet and just running off wifi. Obviously iTunes is going to see both phones as being the same device so that would cause a problem but what if I left wifi sync and iCloud backup on the 6 off. Would this setup work? What I mean is still track my stolen one. I don't know if this will make sense to you but I'm thinking that if I restore the back up data on this phone..on my stolen phone it will like forget the icloud account or something and think this phone is the stolen one so when I go to track the stolen one, it will show that phone as the one I have now because I restored the back up from that phone.

Is synching over wi-fi viable? I've never done it, but when I tried something similar back in the old Palm PDA days, it was S-L-O-W, slow as molasses. I realize that the i-device are far more modern with faster processors, but wondering whether it's even worth exploring doing this.

If you're old phone that was repalced was a higher version of iOS, it wont be able to restore. Update your iPhone to the lastest iOS 7.0.4 and try to restore it then.

Your entire second paragraph is so confusing I am going to ignore it.
But I may be able to answer your first and third paragraphs, which seem to address the same question.
I wonder where your iPhone states it was backed up yesterday. I am going to assume that you see this under Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
If that is true, then the backup from yesterday is in iCloud. The one and only way to restore an iCloud backup is to do this on your iPhone:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
That will cause your iPhone to begin a setup process. As part of that process, assuming you enter the same Apple ID you used when you created the iCloud backup, you will be offered the opportunity to restore from it.

Would throwing it in Recovery mode and restoring as new clear it up?

Step 1: Turn off the iPhone. To do this press and hold the power button till you see the “Slide to Power off” screen. Now slide the button to turn it off.
In case your iPhone is stuck in an infinite loop and the previous option is unavailable, press and hold the Power and Home button till the screen goes off. Remember to leave both the buttons as soon as the screen goes off and before the Apple logo appears again.
Step 2: Connect the iPhone’s USB cable to your computer but not to your iPhone yet.
Step 3: Now hold down the Home button and while you are holding it connect the USB cable. Keep holding the Home button till you see the Connect to iTunes screen on your iPhone(Screenshot shown below). iTunes will show an alert saying a device in recovery mode has been detected.

Search Google for "iphone 3g ipsw" (does not matter which one in your case, just need to restore your phone, then can do whatever). Open iTunes with your phone connected. Shift click on "Restore" (Apple click for Mac) and choose the IPSW file you downloaded. That is called a manual restore. Should help you out.

You really need a newer Mac Mini with a true HDMI output, because that Mac Mini's DVI output does not support Audio.
You might try a 3.5mm to RCA adapter
from the Mac Mini's headphone jack to the TV's audio input,
but that would require being able to select the Audio input in the TVs menu while using it's HDMI input.
Optionally you could also use an external 2.1 Speaker System or patch the audio from the Mac Mini to your home stereo system to enhance that older Mac Mini's audio.

Gift cards are country specific. You cannot use them in another country.

Did you check your Library in iTunes?
Under the view menu is View options, make sure "Kind" and "Purchase Date" are enabled, then sort the items in your Library by clicking where it says "Kind" and "Purchase Date"
The ringtone should come right up to the top as it was the last item purchased.
It's also could be in your "purchased" folder on the left pane under iTunes Store

Putting my Mac Pro onto icloud synching contacts resulted in duplicate and triplicates of the same cards. I have a few THOUSAND contacts and the last time this happened was on mobile me. that had a function where you could replace info on the mobile me server with info on the computer. I see no way to do that on the new cloud.
