I've just tried to update the software on my 5s and now it won't switch on
My phone kept asking me to do an update, I have the 5s, so I finally updated my software and now it won't switch on, it won't do anything. I've plugged it in to my iTunes and it does nothing. Please help!

I hope that you can see this response. The forum software is acting quite bizarre today.
You really do want to restore with your own computer. There is an off chance that you might be able to backup first, but I really think it is a very slight chance now since you got the connect to iTunes screen. But on the chance that when you connect, it sees the iPad and allows a backup, I would to not have you wait to use your own Mac.
If you cannot create a backup, you will lose everything that you have put on since the date to the last backup. So of your last backup was three weeks ago, you will restore the iPad to the condition that it was in three weeks ago.
If you do a lot of traveling, using iCloud for backups might be a very good idea. I use iTunes primarily and I backup my MacBook Pro with Time Capsule, but I still use iCloud as a secondary backup. I don't have enough data that I have exceeded the free 5 GB that you get with iCloud, so I do use it just in case.
I can't explain what happened with the update, I can only tell you that it does happen to other users. I have never had a problem when I updated and I having been updating over WiFi since iOS 5 came out. Taking a guess, maybe an interruption in the connection - especially of you tried updating using a hotel's WiFi network, or a power surge maybe. Whatever the cause, it is most likely a one time thing. That doesn't help your situation I know, but hopefully it won't happen again. -

I fixed it!!
While not connected to any USB cable I put the iPad in recovery mode.
To do that turn the iPad completely off. Press and hold the home button while turning the iPad on, once you see the apple logo release the home button.
Turn on your OS X mac after it boots up connect the USB from iPod to Mac. iTunes should start. If not launch itunes.
Perform the factory restore process paying attention to all of the screen message windows. Then set up the ipad like it was new. -

You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.

Don't know where to get help. I just updated the software and I am having issues with not being able to update Aps or install new ones. The circles just spin and Aps just say "waiting." I tried running a diagnostic with the apple store and it came back with "power issues" (?) as a result. It wouldn't let me select an option to see what steps I could take to fix it, it just backed out of the page. I just don't know what to do.....

Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done. -

I just downloaded the updated software and now can't shut down open programs like I used to by holding downthe round button, having them appear at the bottom of the screen, holding them down for the "x" to appear and then closing them by clicking "x". I can get the program icons to appear, but don't know how to shut them off now.

I just Updated the iOS on my iPhone 4 from 4.3.1 to the latest update, (after backing up my data on iTunes) and now the iPhone says I have 0bytes available and need to delete some photos or videos.. I have tried deleting content from my iPhone, as well as re-setting it, and nothing works. What could be the problem?

I hadn't used my macbook for a while, software update was available , once installed I can't get the machine to switch on, it starts the process then switches off. Any ideas?
ThanksIf it's late 2011 it came installed with Lion 10.7. That means you should be able to start it up thus:
Hold down BOTH the command key and the 'R' key. With them held down, press and release the power on button (don't release the command and 'R' keys).
When you see the grey screen, you can release the keys. You should get to a recovery disk (after a minute or so). If you get this far, let us know and we'll take you to the next step.
If the computer still won't power on, you've either got a flat battery (you are plugged into the mains right?), or a hardware failure. In the latter case, you'll need to take the mac to an Apple store. -

Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card.
