I've just upgraded to "After Effects CS5.5" and when I render my project there is no video?

I created a project, RAM preview worked fine, have tried to render and only get audio no video...
I've also recently upgraded to Lion OS-- could that be an issue?
Suggestions? Help? All responses much appreciated

Lacking that information, yes: the upgrade to Lion could be the cause of your woes. You should know that for virtually any application that taxes a computer's resources, as the Adobe applications tend to do, you should avoid a simple upgrade and do a clean install to minimize trouble with them.

I also try to install Java SE runtime but half way through the Software Update it says cant download software because of network problem but I'm connected to the internet and i can browse stuff just fine. Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.

You cannot downgrade.
Try a reset (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if it has cleared things up.
If not, then go to Settings and check all of your settings. If you have lots of Location Services turned on that you don't need, turn them off. Turn off Bluetooth when you are not using it. Turn off Background App refresh, turn off cellular roaming, etc.

Upgrading from After Effects CS5 to CS6

I am creating a new post for this since my previous post on Design Premium was "Answered" yeaterday.
I went ahead and purchased the Creative Suite Design Premium 5.5 Upgrade today which apparently includes a FREE upgrade to CS6 Web & Design Premium Package following its release (i.e. if you pay for the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.5 before May 6th you get a FREE Upgrade to CS6).
Unfortunately Design Premium Suite of products does not include AE so I have always had to purchase that upgrade separately. Am I correct that there is no such similar upgrade incentive for a single product like After Effects CS5 as is being offered on the Design Premium Suite right now?
Regarding my After Effects "standalone" copy, from what I can tell, my upgrade cost to CS6 would be the same as if I had never upgraded to CS5 (i.e. the upgrade price to CS 6 from CS3 or CS4 is the same as upgrading from CS5) - about $350, but if I upgraded to AE_CS5.5 then the jump to CS6 would be about $175, but if I upgrade "now" to AECS5.5, it would be $179 + another $175 when AECS6 comes out - is that right? $179 seems like a fair upgrade price from AE_CS5 to AE_CS6, but $350 is pretty steep for just one product - especially since 5.5 was not a full incremental jump?
Am I missing something? From where I am right now, my only path from AE_CS5 to AE-CS6 is about $350? (i.e. about the same price as being forced into the entire Cloud Subscription the first year?). Also, about the same as what I paid today to get ALL my other CS5 Apps upgraded to CS6 in total.

After Effects CS5.5 and Nvidia 9800GTX

Hi guys, there's think I'v been thinking about.
I've got a Nvidia 9800GTX and I'm currently using After Effects CS5.5, I know there's a thing that makes you "edit" faster using the power of the GPU (I know that with the Quadro family). But my question is. Does my 9800GTX work on AF Cs5.5? Cause I see it slow when rendering... Some people say yes the 9800GTX works, some say no... I really dont know... The OpenGL works but is no the same right?..

In After Effects, the type of card doesn't matter much. It doesn't use it. Fast processors and a lot of memory are more important. If you need a good card for other applications, you get it for the other applications.
Open GL acceleration is a bad thing to use for rendering in AE. It's fine for previewing, but not for rendering. It doesn't help much. Most of the time, it hurts rather than helps. Adobe employees don't use Open GL to accelerate rendering. This should tell you something about the usefulness of Open GL.
Since this forum is on Adobe's web site, I am confident that Adobe employees will check in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Adobe After Effects CS5 Crash and compatibility problems with Windows 7 64-bit

Hello,
I get a lot of crashes of After Effects CS5. I get the message thar Monitor Kernel program stopped responding and recovered.
I also did a compatibility test and found that After Effects CS5 is not compatible with Windows 7 Premium 64-bit.
Could you suggest a solution please?

Not much you can do, most likely beyond the usual advice of making sure all your drivers are up to date...

After Effects CS5.5 crashes when selecting "Edit in Audition" (0::42)

I was surfing around Adobe TV and watching a few tutorials when I decided to try out the edit in audition feature, except when I pulled up my project and selected "edit in audition" I got this error message:

What I'm trying to import into Audition is really heavily edited and saved as an .aep, but when I do the same with an untouched .mov file it works fine. So maybe it's a limitation of Audition/After Effects? I don't know.
Also, a couple of things have been installed since I started the project, and I read in a thread that might be the problem. But before I go deleting anything I want to make sure the same thing is happening to me.
Aside from this, After Effects works just fine, and so far this is the only error I've gotten.
My setup is
Acer Aspire
Windows 7 64-bit
4GB RAM
Intel i5 processor
Adobe Production Premium

Adobe after effect cs5 automatic crashes when im starting it up

First time ever im on this forum.
Well i got a problem.
Its like whenever i start up adobe after effect its just freaking crashes.
And also 3 error windows pops up.
Heres the first one:

Also the system im using is x64 windows 7 ultimate.
And this just happend when i was making a montage and rendering it.
It was really slow so i stoped the rendering process and whosh it crashed.
It also sad that i could make an last save because adobe after effect crashed.
So any ideas?

Which format were you rendering it to? Was it a QuickTime codec?

My After Effects CS5 crashed and won't restart

My battery died on my laptop while AF CS5 was running (I thought it was plugged in). It had been running fine up till then.
When I plugged the machine in and started AF, I got the error message:
"After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <4788> <DynamicLink><5>C\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DynamicLink\CS5|dynamiclinkmanager.exe"
After clicking on OK, I get the error:
"After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. See http://www.adobe.com/support/products/aftereffects.html for Adobe nTechnical Support (2). (0 :: 42)"
I restarted the machine and AF, but get the same error message. All of the other Production Premium Suite programs still run fine.
I reinstalled AE CS5 from the CD, but still the same problem.
I have emailed Adobe, but have not heard back yet. Any Ideas?

I renamed the "Adobe After Effects 10.0-x64 Prefs.txt" file, AE started right up and created a new one.
Tip - When I looked for the AppData file in C:\users\user name\ folder, I couldn't find it! Then I realized that my "show hidden files" setting was turned off in the folder options.

Are you saying you installed AE only from the CS5.5 package?

Intel hd graphics 3000 not working in after effects cs5 and cs4

Hi I am running after effects cs5.5 and when importing 3d objects the programs keeps on crashing. in the preferences the graphics is not recognized. I also have Photoshop cs5 and it works fine in that and it recognized, both are 64bit. Does any one have any solutions.

Nikon D7000 .MOV files in Premiere Pro and After Effects CS5.5

I recently upgraded from Production Premium CS5 to CS5.5. Initially Nikon D7000 .MOV files used in previous CS5 Premiere Pro project would not play well in CS5.5. Now .MOV files do work in both PP and AE CS5.5. Here are the steps I followed. Not recommending you follow my steps exactly, just providing info for those that are interested.
1.       Launch Premiere Pro CS5.5 and open previous PP CS5 project, convert project to CS5.5 and rename project file as not to replace previous CS5 project file.
a.       At this point .MOV files do not play in new project or in AE CS5.5
b.      Close Premiere Pro and After Effect if still running.
2.       Using Adobe Bridge CS5.5, batch rename;
a.       Make copies of original files to new folder location while renaming file extension from .MOV to .mpg
b.      Let Adobe Bridge finish creating all new thumbnail previews.
c.       Leave Bridge running in background.
3.       Launch Premiere Pro CS5.5, let Premiere finish recreating thumbnail previews if needed.
a.       Attempt to preview existing .MOV file in project. It worked for me.
b.      Attempt to play sequence containing .MOV files. It worked for me.
c.       Attempt to play or modify sequence .MOV files in AE CS5.5 via Dynamic Link within Premiere. It worked for me.
d.      Close Premiere Pro project and AE projects if open.
4.       Create new Premiere Pro project and sequence
a.       Import a different Nikon D7000 .MOV file not previously used or renamed.
b.      Attempt to play this newly imported .MOV file. This worked for me as well.
c.       The new, previously un-renamed .MOV file also worked in AE CS5.5 for me.
I will perform additional tests but at the moment Nikon D7000 .MOV files are working for me in CS5.5 after initially performing a batch rename in Bridge CS5.5 from .MOV to .mpg and letting Bridge create preview files. Even .MOV files not renamed now work.

I see 2 post in this thread from Todd that say they are working on a fix and it should be out soon. One is from July, the other from August. It is now Sept 7th and I still see no patches or fixes for any bugs. I spent 400 dollars on an upgrade, but is this upgrade going to be supported?
This is making me rethink upgrading to the .5's in the future.
It is a minor bug to most, but in that sense it should be an easy quick fix. Am I wrong? Is this really a complicated issue?
I apologize if this comes off like a rant, but thats kinda what it is. It is not hard to batch rename files, but its a pain to have to relink all those files in PP.

No Audio In After Effects CS5.5(Even after rendering)

I currently have the After Effects CS5.5 Trial Version installed. I am running into a bad audio problem. For the first 2 days I have used it, the audio was fine, it played automatically and I didn't even have to render first to get it. Then, the third day, I got on that day and the audio jsut flat out didnt work. I did look it up on the forums and google, and nothing helped. I have tried rendering(with audio), using different video files and clips, and even reinstaling the trial. Nothing worked. The RAM Preview plays sound fine, and when I double-tap "L", the soundwaves do show, and they are accurate when played on the preview. I have tried WMV, AVI, and mp4 files, none of which have worked. I can edit and add effects and import picture and other files fine, but the audio simply doesnt work. I can't get audio by playing it normally.
I know it is not usual to ask questions about the trial, or to even have them answered, but this is important because I want to buy After Effects CS5.5, and before I do, I need to know if this is a computer problem, or if I did something to mess up the program, or if there is even a way to solve it. I don't want to buy it and realize I can't even use it with audio for some reason.
P.S. I am fairly new to this, so if you blast me with some complex, in-depth instructions, please try to make it rather simple, or just explain it well.

You said that audio played when you used RAM preview. That is how you play audio.
