It they are now out of support, then is there any other application that I can use for pdf books reading? I only want to download books from itunes or my collection and to read them over my iphone.

Only the current version of each app is available for download from the store, so for iBooks there is only the version that requires iOS 5+
There are other apps in the store which support PDFs, though I don't how many work on iOS 4.1 - 'PDF Manager Free' appears to be one, and the Stanza app also says that it supports PDFs

Only overview & pictures are available

After blue screen on my notebook the Apple TV doesn't work correct with iTunes. The tabs movies etc are all missing. Only overview & pictures are available.
How can I activate the tabs movies etc in my iTunes?

otherwise i would prob try to do a clean install of itunes
or maybe if your itunes lost it's relation with itunestore you dont get the rented movies tab but you should still get the fold out menu for the atv under devices

How do I find out where iTunes thinks missing files are?

I have several hundred "missing" files in my iTunes library but they are all actually on the computer. But I don't remember where the were previously. I add dozens of songs at a time to my library all the time and there is no Earthly way for me to constantly remember where they were before. I don't just want to reimport the files because I have several hundred playlists with these files and it would be completely stupid to edit them all one at a time when all I need to do is to move them back to where iTunes thinks they should be. So where is that? The Windows media player has a column that displays file location. Why doesn't iTunes? (This is so stupid. It makes things -not just this- so much easier when you have the file location in the music list in your music player.)
Is there a way to find out where iTunes thinks the missing files should be at?

If you right click - get info on a song then view the Info tab, you will see where iTunes last used it from.
I'm not a newbie. I know quite a lot about iTunes. You sound like you don't though because if you did you would know that this is not true. If you "right click - get info on a song" (pressing cancel to the Locate popup) "then view the SUMMARY (not info) tab" you will see "Not Available" where the file location usually is. I wouldn't have asked this question if I hadn't gone through the steps already.

When I install a new hard drive. Yes. I generally keep everything organized and I let iTunes keep the folder organized but several years ago I used windows media player to organize my media.
Frankly I don't know HOW the recent songs/videos/etc. go missing. But some do. Maybe I accidentally move a folder without realizing it. Mistakes happen. Then I need to move it back but since I didn't know I did it in the first place I can't possibly be expected to remember where I moved it from.
Do you have iTunes prefs -> Advanced Keep ITunes music folder organized ticked and Copy files to iTunes ... ticked?

I don't mean to sound rude but you sound like an Apple fanboy. Are you trying to tell me how I should use my own program? The answer to the question is I am a salsa instructor/DJ and I am constantly adding songs and videos to my library. Every month I have various salsa events, classes and performances that I do. I use my iPhone for the music. I need to maintain the playlists because students/teachers/studios/clubs/bars/churches/etc. call me back and want a repeat of the great salsa night I gave them a year ago. Naturally my playlists are highly organized into folders. So, I still have them and I need them.
Apple has its own ideas about how people should use its stuff but everyone is unique and our needs therefore are unique too. Apple doesn't realize this and still wants us to do things "the Apple way" even though "the Apple way" only works well for people who want their hand held through everything. This is why I say you sound like a fanboy. You don't know my situation and question if I need hundreds of playlists. I do.
I just need an answer to the question.

The Autofill feature of iTunes will not add audiobooks and podcasts to any iPod model. They can be manually added by dragging them to the iPod shuffle in iTunes.
For iPod shuffle (3rd generation), you must enable Manually manage music in the Summary tab to drag songs to iPod shuffle. Additionally, you can automatically sync audiobooks using the Music tab and sync podcasts using the Podcasts tab in iTunes.

Numbers 09 not working - I can open the program but only a few files are available, missing blank, checklist and many others. e.g when I click on a file I get this error: The document "nmbtemplate is invalid. The index.xml file is missing. help.

Please let me know what I can do to get my Numbers (iWork 09) working properly again.
Here is what is going on:
Numbers in iWork 09 not working can't access Blank, Checklist and many other files within Numbers. I can open the program but only a few files are available. When I click on the file (which also has no icon just the name of the file) this warning appears:
The document "Blank.nmbtemplate" is invalid. The index.xml file is missing.
I recently had to get a new hard drive installed and had the system upgraded and more memory put in by a Mac certified specialist recommended to me from the Apple store in Northbrook because this was the 3rd time my drive went bad but this time it was to old (I got the IMAC- in 2007) and the Apple store could no longer work on it this time so they recommended a few places that had certified Mac specialists. Since then Numbers is not working right.
I'm sure it's something simple to fix, but I've tried re installing it and that didn't work. Appreciate any help.

There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

Some for the formatting and system and other software you have.
I'm not sure if Apple still does this but there was a way GB used to be calculated that meant when you bought a drive it was always a few percentage below the advertised size.

My time Machine keeps saying, "Time Machine could not complete the backup. This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 345.74 GB but only 289.80 are available." I have already excluded files. I have a 1tb external drive. HELP!!!

For over two weeks now I have been frustated and not having my TIme Machine back up to my 1tb external drive. I dont understand why now its a problem. It keeps saying

Time Machine needs work space on the bakup disk, in addition to the space required to store backups. Open Time Machine preferences to select a large backup disk or make the bakup smaller by excluding files." So I have already excluded almost all of my files, and even deleted the backup disk yet, that quote still keeps popping up. I am truly at a wall with this. I have a Mac OS X version 10.7.5. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE????

Updating to iTunes 7 - error: files are missing

After downloading an update to iTunes 7: When I click on iTunes, I get an error message which says: "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Reinstall iTunes."

let's try swapping out your QuickTime one more time. let's try the following procedure:
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:

1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

N86 games - Why only 2 buttons are avail and not a...

The top part of the phone which is covered by the slider has 4 buttons (for pic viewing, music and games).
I found it very convenient to play games with it. However, only the 2 middle buttons are available for n gage games. The top and bottom one are not, and it's a shame cause they could be very useful in some games.
Why?? and can this be changed somehow so that all 4 buttons will be operatable in games?

No, it has nothing to do with the phone reporting it to the game. Even if lets say the phone reported the buttons, they will still be useless, and would have no function since the game was only written to have the nav button and two commands. Its like those emulators for PC. When you use a gameboy emulator for example, you only can use buttons for navigation, the "a" and "b" buttons and start select, even if you have like 100 keys, because the game was written to only have those command scripts.

I keep getting a message when i try to open iTunes 9 telling me to re-install. When I do, large portions of my music files are missing from iTunes on laptop. They are on my iPhone 3G, because I synced them from iTunes before it crashed. How do I get them to sync back into iTunes from the iPhone?

Lost content on iTunes -- Nike+ playlists.

I downloaded two Nike+ playlists on my old iPod nano. Since I switched to my iPhone 4S, the tracks only play as an album - I've lost all the pre-recorded Nike+ voiceover content that used to play over the top of the tracks. How do I get it back?

The music is not stored on the "account" or Apple servers. The music will only be where you put it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Your music should be on your backup copy of your computer and on whatever computer you saved it.
