I've lost iCal.

iPhone 4. I set it up as Google calendar, but I don't like how it's working. I'd like to try using iCal and synching it to Google calendar, which has my husband's data. But I can't find iCal. The icon leads to Google calendar, even after deleting it on the settings page. How do I get iCal back?
Thanks!

Is this correct: you had multiple calendars; they disappeared from the calendar pane and their events from the main pane; you deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ical.plist; you now have a single calendar (Home) but cannot make more; you can see the events in Home?
Can you add events to Home?
Can you see as many folders in ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources/ as you used to have calendars?
Double-click ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/nodes.plist. Click the black triangle beside the word Root. In the line "List Array ..." how many ordered objects are reported? Does this match your original calendar count?
What have you added/changed/modified recently? Might it have involved any fonts?

  • How to recreate lost iCal using time mashine

I have tried to recreate lost ical using time mashine but without succes. I get the folowing message" iCal can neither be change nor be deleted because the item is required by Mac OS X. Hope somebody can help.

You're trying to restore an older version. You can't do that. Back up all data, then boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup) and reinstall Lion. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

  • Lost ical entries after sync.

After I performed a sync the other day all my new appointments that I had imputed into my iphone were erased. There is no record of them on the phone or on my mac. I'm really distressed because I lost my ENTIRE work schedule. Can any one tell me how to fix this? Can I recover the data? Or can I at least prevent this from happening again?
    Thanks.

This has happened to both me and my wife. We both have iPhone 3g; I have a PowerBook G4 and she has a MacBook Pro, both running OS 10.4.11. When entries are made to the iPhone calendar, they sometimes disappear upon syncing to Mac iCal. Very frustrating. Any help out there? Makes me want to go back to my Palm. At least that would warn if there were appointments that had been modified in both locations, and it NEVER erased entries.

  • Lost iCal info

I backed up my computer, had memory upgraded, had OS reinstalled and when I synced up my iphone I lost all of my calendar info. I tried going back to Time Machine to put it back but I don't know how to do it. HELP!!!! You can email me directly at [email protected]

I really don't know what topic this would go under but maybe someone can assist me....
I recently transferred data from my older Mac to my new iMac. On my old Mac, I had iCal set up such that I created many calendars and used them as "topics" in alpha order and when I clicked on the topic, there would be an info pane next to the To Do List that would show all the info that I input that related to the topic. On my old computer, to get it I would click the view menu, and the pane would show up with all the info. I could also drag the pane so it wouldn't be seen.
I'm wondering how I can view the information that I transferred over...all of the commands are not the same and I can't figure out how to view the "text". I have about 25 categories or calendars that had as much info as I wanted to for each. I still have my older computer and it's still visible but I can't figure out how to make this visible on my new one.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?

  • Lost Ical Data.

I reset my sync data not realizing i would lose my data and i did not have a back up. Is there any way to retrieve that data as it was on my iphone as well and both are now gone. Please help.

I had the same problem as others: upgraded to 10.6, lost all calendar entries, multiple validation errors occurred, saw "To set an email alarm, you must provide an email address" in the console window, got some entries with some fiddling but still many missing. The procedure below fixed it for me; you need a bootable backup of your 10.5.* system with the original, good calendar.
    1. Boot into your 10.5.* system, start up iCal, and back up iCal. Call the iCal backup file "bad.icbu".
    2. Open bad.icbu with TextEdit. Search for "nomail". You will find one or more such events; call these the nomail events.
    3. Using iCal, delete these events. They may be recreated if needed, but delete them first.
    4. Make a new iCal backup and call it good.icbu.
    5. Boot back into 10.6; start up iCal, and import good.icbu.

  • Recovering lost ical events after accidentally Syncing with Entourage

This question seems to be in reverse to many of the posts I have read. I have always used ical as my calendar, however recently decided to use the Entourage program. When importing the my mail, I accidentally navigated to the sync portion of the import, I read the options and thought that I was going to sync ical to Entourage. It seems I did the reverse, Entourage wiped out my ical events.
Is there a library/system file which can recover the ical evetns?
Also since I am already on this page? all my mail files moved from apple mail to Entourage, but not the inbox of read items. Can these be moved?
Thanks for any help, hopefully I have not lost these items.

If you have made an iTunes or iCloud backup containing the Calendar events you can restore from that otherwise, if you deleted them with no backup, they are gone.

  • Lost ical data on ipod touch during sync

Using mac book with snow leopard version 10.6.8.  I closed my mobile me account after it expired.  I am not using the cloud.  When I tried to sync my 2nd gen ipod touch, I lost all my ical data on my touch.  Before deleting mobile me, I exported all my calendar data from mobileme cals and imported all data into new calendars "on my mac".  The only way I could set up new calendars was by setting up a new group.  Don't know if this has anything to do with the problem.  Everything else on touch syncs.  I tried resetting the touch.  I also reset sync history in isync.  Nothing has worked so far.  How can I get my ical data to sync to my touch?

The "Time Zone Support" in settings on the iPod said Cupertino, USA.
I've turned that off now and it seems to have fixed the problem.
NB: There is a note in the settings that says "When off, events will display according to the time zone of your current location."
    Thanks for you help!

  • Lost ical contents

My mother somehow lost a widget on her ipod touch and was told to sync, restore, and then manually reload games and songs (really the only other functions she uses) back on it. We can't find her ical information to put it back on. Any ideas? I went to itunes preferences and then to devices and found a backup for it that might have the information, but the only option is to delete it. She is quite attatched to it... has threatened suicide... please help!

    Welcome to the discussion group.
Maybe no answers because your problem statement isn't clear. What do you mean she cannot find her ical information? I mean, her iCal information should be in the iCal program on her Mac. If she is restoring from a PC and she only has calendar information on the iPod, she/you can restore from an iTunes Backup.
    Plug in the iPod touch.
Command-Control (or Right Mouse Click) on the iPod name in iTunes brings down a menu that includes Backup and Restore from Backup.
See my account of having to do this at http://blog.avolio.com/2009/03/my-new-ipod-touch.html

  • Lost iCal info, Firefox Bookmarks, and Security Permissions

I came home yesterday and work up my G5 and launched Firefox. It opened as if I just downloaded it and it did not go to my homepage and all my bookmarks were gone.
That was really frustrating so I restarted my computer and then then the generic Apple screen background appeared and all my programs in my dock were gone and when I opened iCal all my dates that I had inputted were lost.
Not only that! When I wake my computer from sleep mode, it is not asking me for my password.
Any reason why this is all happening. I plan to get as much data off the main drive just in case my computer is going south but I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and what steps you recommend I take to remedy it.
Oh, and unless I did not look in the right place I did not see the backups of the Firefox bookmarks. Bummer.

I had previously had a major problem with an Apple automatic update and went thru lots of time and trouble, especially with Safari. After more time than I wanted to spend with Applecare...finally having to do a clean install...I was told all was okay. I still had Safari problems, so I switched to Firefox and was able to import the bookmarks from the old Safari. I was assured that the Snow Leopard was worth doing and would be no problem. So much for that advice. Most everything else seems fine, but all of my data on iCal is lost, as are the bookmarks in Firefox. When I tried to pull same up from Time Machine, I get the message that the version of iCal won't work with this version of Mac OS X.
don't restore the application itself. applications themselves never contain any user data.
it's all stored in your home directory. for ical quit ical and restore the folder /users/username/library/calendars and for firefox the folder /users/username/library/application support/firefox.

  • Lost ical events with lion upgrade...how do I find them?

Does anyone know how to get all ical events to appear in ical after a lion upgrade?

This may not help but, I've reached a point where I'll backup everything before ANY kind of upgrade or update and I'll even have two sets of Time Machine backups. I guess you'll have to restore forgetting about the upgrade and retry after refreshing the backup on a SECOND drive, don't allow yur current backup to start a new session at all, you may loose it. Maybe too late, but I just saw this now. Good Luck!

  • Local man injured due to lost iCal appointments.   iCal4, TimeMachine, Snow Leopard

    <<<<<<< Situation >>>>>>>
Well, maybe my wife won’t injure me but she’s going to be very upset if I don’t find out how to get her iCal appointments back.
We use 3 calendars on the iMac.    Two normal “local” calendars (no internet syncing or anything) and one google calendar.    I made some change on google’s end and it wiped out all 3 calendars.   It makes no sense to me but whatever, it happened.
I am in serious need of assistance on how to restore back the two “local” calendars.   My wife used them to track developmental and special moments for our two kids.    The other google calendar can be recreated and isn’t of concern.
    <<<<<<< What I tried >>>>>>>
I am running Snow Leopard making my iCal version 4.x.   This is what I’ve tried:
    << Try 1 >>
Closed iCal.  Went back into the Time Machine and restored the Drive\Users\Username\Library\iCal folder and wrote over any entries that were existing.  Opened iCal.   Calendar appears, but there are no appointments.
    << Try 2 >>
Closed iCal.   I deleted everything out of Drive\Users\Username\Library\iCal folder, then went DEEP into the time machine and did a clean restore of Drive\Users\Username\Library\iCal folder.   Opened iCal and the calendar appears but there are no appointments.
PLEASE HELP ME.   I really need to get these entries back

Despite my reservations, the user needed his calendar to sync ASAP, so I deleted the Adam Hird appointment. Then I thought "might be a good idea to back it up so I can help Apple Discussions troubleshoot!" so I pressed Cmd+Z to undo the deletion. Apparently this unstuck the clog-- the test appointments that weren't syncing up to Exchange deleted themselves (oops) and the Adam Hird appointment reverted back to its Exchange state (9:00-9:15, no location). Further tests show that syncing now works fine with no Console errors.
Any ideas? Consider this a bug report, I guess...

  • Lost iCal data after upgrade

I've just updated my husband's MacBook from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Everything has gone perfectly well, apart from iCal and Address Book, both of which are now empty. How do I reunite them with their data? If it isn't hiding somewhere on his MacBook, I can retrieve the files from Crashplan. Just that I don't know what they look like, where they are, or how to feed them back into the applications...

I've googled but I still can't figure out where these files are, or how to reunite them. Anyone?

  • Lost ical events after daylight savings

Just woke up and my ical is blank. I've tried looking at my icloud account and that is blank too. i have also turned off my phone and restarted it still all blank. Any suggestions on how to retrieve my ical events, current and past back?

    Quit iCal.
Open ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist. Look for a line called "delete events". If it exists, set the value to "No" by clicking on it.
If the line does not exist, close the plist file and drag it to the desktop.
After either of the above steps, open iCal and create a test event older than 90 days and see if it keeps it.
    Hope that helps

  • Lost iCal entries following iCloud registration

I installed Lion on my iMac and on the next day registered for iCloud.  Immediately all data in iCal disappeared.  Calendar was empty in iCloud also.  Have tried to recover data through Time Machine, but unsuccessful.

iCloud is turned on.  To expand; when I registered to iCloud and went to iCal on my Mac all the entries, except for birthdays and holidays, disappeared.  Also missing were the the eight of so "calendars" that I had, there only being the generic empty Calendar and Home calendars of a totally new iCal.
I am connected to iCloud and it is working; when I make an entry on my Mac it shows up in iCloud.
My question is how and why did this happen and is there any way of recovering all my entries and calendars?
