Check with your internet provider for help. Your modem or router could have been damaged if they did not come on after the outage. If your modem and router look OK all you should have to do is restart your iMac.

Lost internet connection after installing BT dongle (MS-6967)

I have tried installing the MSI Bluetooth USB dongle (MS-6967) drivers twice. I tried the 1.3.1 version and the 1.4.2 version drivers. The Bluetooth dongle itself works fine, but both times I lost my internet connection after installation. After this I have to remove the drivers and repair my installation with the Windows CD, but then windows and all of my programs also need to be updated again since my original Windows CD is a first release version.
The weird thing is that I can connect to other local computers and I can even ping external computers, but browsing websites (on IP address), looking up domain names and retrieving mail are no longer possible. I have no firewall software installed.
Does anyone konw how to fix this?

Am I really the only one with this problem? Well I have seen someone else on another forum ...
Maybe someone knows how to reinstall just the TCP/IP stack?
I'm using a notebook with buil-in network card. It runs W2K dutch version SP4 and things worked before when I was using SP1. Somehow it doesn;t work now anymore. Before I start reinstalling everyting again, I just want to check once more if anyone has some tips for recovering.

Lost internet connection after sleep

When waking from sleep my internet connection is lost and I have to click the airport icon and reselect my network to reconnect. I dont have this problem with my MacBook, it reconnects automatically when when waking. Is there a way to set up the iMac (running 10.6.6) so that it reconnects to my my network automatically when it wakes?

I am having the same problem of the airport network not coming up automatically without pressing the network manually in the signal bar. I checked the system preference checks as you explained and still have the problem. Any other suggestions.

Lost Internet Connection After Watching iTunes video

I know my subject line is strange because one may have nothing to do with the other, but it describes what happened. I downloaded a few videos from iTunes and played them on a TV using the s-video out. I made some display adjustments and that was it. When I went to go back online I could not get onto the internet via Airport. I ran diagnostics and I had green lights up until the internet (red light-failed). I made no changes to my network configurations. OSX updated previously. (not sure which version because I am at work)
Troubleshooting Results:
-Power Mac desktop connected to internet with no problems.
-Powerbook directly connected to DSL modem via ethernet, web pages would not load, same diagnostic, internet failed.
-Restart Powerbook, network status says connected to internet via ethernet-green light, still web pages won't load, no message on Safari or Firefox browsers, just spinning
-Pinged network from utilities-ping successful
I'm running out of things to try. Any suggestions?

It turns out there was a problem with my ISP (Verizon). They set up a new connection and all is well.

I installed that silly microsofts' office as a requirement for work and as a convienance for myself. So one day I opened macbook pro and went to use the word program but voila'.. when i clicked it did not open rather, a Question mark appeared. This also happened with powerpoint,outlook and excell.
Anyone have any similar issues? anyone?

Office applications have disappeared from your Mac.
First, check if they are still on your computer. Open Finder, select Applications on the sidebar, open the Office folder and check if Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel are here. If they are here, drag them to the Dock and delete the old icons.
To delete icons from the Dock, right-click them and select Options > Remove from Dock, or just drag them off the Dock.
If they aren't there, reinstall Microsoft Office. Also, open  > Software Update and install the most recent Snow Leopard version, Mac OS X 10.6.8

Lost internet connection while restoring iphone 4S from backup after iOS 6

Hi everyone..
I have just updated my iPhone 4S to iOS6 yesterday. It was iOS5.1.1 and was in jailbreak mode before the update.
I did sync my iphone and did the 'Backup' as well before the update by using my latest iTunes via my laptop.
The iOS6 update was successful.
However, the 'Restore from backup' failed.. many times!! Everytime I tried to Restore from backup, i lost internet connection towards the end of the 'restore in progress' process so it was never complete. I had to pull out the iphone cable or restart my pc every single time that happened. Because i cannot get an internet connection after that happened. I cannot connect to any wireless network, so I had to restart the pc!
(the iPhone says 'Restore complete' as soon as I pulled out the cable. But phone stays as NEW phone, none of my backup data was restored).
During the 'restore from backup' attempts (via iTunes 10.7 on laptop), I have tried:
- Restoring to factory settings first and then restore from backup = tried many times and still failed.
- Uninstalled Apple mobile device and iTunes and re-installed them = still failed.
- Switched OFF the phone and hold the Home button while connecting to the laptop. Restored to factory settings, then tried to restore from backup = still failed!!
- switching to different USB ports on my laptop including USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 = no luck, still failed.
NOTES:
-Laptop is on Windows 7 and have had NO such problems so far. I have been using iPhone since 3GS.
-Internet connection is via wireless router, steady connection.
-My 3GS was on jailbreak mode before. I bought iPhone 4S and successfully restored from my '3GS backup' without any problem.
-iTunes 10.7 installed/updated.

Nevermind.. I just found the solution to my problem.
I copied the Backup folder into my mate's laptop and did the 'Restore from backup'.
All is good now.. Only need to re-install my apps, soon after all will be back as per normal!

Loss of Internet connection after after power "Blackout"

I have a Linksys WRT54GS router connected to Charter.net cable modem.
I do not have a static IP.
This summer we have had several power blackouts. The electricity is gone anywhere from 10 seconds to a lot longer.
When power is connected again, the router is not able to receive an IP address from the Cable modem. Therefore the LAN side of the modem works, but no access to Internet. After a power restart of the Linksys Router I am again connected to the Internet. It seem that the Router boots before the Modem and when asking the Modem for the IP address gets no answer from the slower booting Modem. When I am at home it is an easy problem to solve but when I am in another part of the Country I loose the connection to my Base Computer at home.

what is the firmware version on the router?? try reducing MTU to 1452...let me know if you have any issues will get back to you.

Just purchased Airport Extreme ac and lost internet connection 3X. Reset to factory settings and worked for 2 days then lost connection and remedied by unplugging power supply. Anyone else having problems?

Has occurred 2 additional times and connection re-established by unplugging AP extreme. Anyone else having these problems? Do I have a bad router? Thanks.

I definitely think this is a Mavericks issue. My iMac running Mavericks is the ONLY system in the house that drops the network randomly while all other systems never lose the network. No idea how to resolve this, but here is the workaround I'm posting:
I've had the 'network drop' issue with my Airport Extreme for the last 2 months. It reconnects when I pull the ethernet cable and plug it back in. I've tried downgrading the AE firmware, resetting to factory, etc. Nothing worked. I finally threw in the towel and created a script that monitors my network connectivity and restarts my interface if it senses it has dropped:

Lost phone connection after modem reboot

I had to reboot to regain my lost internet connection. When I did, I lost my phone connection. Spent an hour on chat with Comcast techie, who claims the problem is at my house. NOTHING changed except for the reboot to regain internet access. After the tech did all he could think of he ended the session and closed the ticket!!!!! What's up with that? Anyway, I need my phone service that I am paying for! Any ideas? Techies have been to the house twice (after the first guy never closed up the box outside and the rain screwed it up). Was running fine until the reboot. The modem is an Xfinity TC8305C

Yesterday I did for the first time my Nokia E51software update. I followed after instruction, update has installed properly. After update I backed up my data and settings. But there is one problem. After update my phone lost internet connection. Everytime when I try to go to the internet my phone is connecting Vodafone Live, but after that always appears error - Web: connection time out.
I wanted setup internet settings here, but I see that Nokia doesn't do automatic setup anymore Hell, how it was helpful and handy!!!
I was also on my mobile provider's (Vodafone) website, but they doesn't have any manuals for this kind of Nokia like mine.
Do you have any suggestions what should I do?
My mobile model: Nokia E51
Provider: Vodafone (Ireland)

If you have done a full backup in PC Suite, then do a fresh Restore but this time uncheck the Settings options and just restore the others.
It is usual that settings may change after a firmware update.

Macbook pro with maverick 10.9.2 loses internet connection after waking from sleep

Recently installed maverick 10.9.2 on my macbook pro and have been experiencing lost internet connection (dsl connected via ethernet) after computer wakes from sleep. Any ideas?

I am on a MAC Pro desktop and I am having the same issues. I go to system preferences and just click the network icon. Then I close mail and when it opens it now sees the network. This is getting very annnoying.

Lost data connectivity after upgrading iPhone 4 to iOS 5. How to fix?

I upgraded my 16GB iPhone 4 yesterday from iOS 4.3.5 to iOS 5 and everything went fine after a few failed connections to Apple's servers, however my phone lost the data connectivity completely. Phone and SMS worked fine, I could also connect through wi-fi with no problems, however whenever I tried to use data I got a message that my phone was not signed to an internet service.
I restored my phone from the backup after upgrading. Not successful. I also reset the network configurations. No deal.
My carrier is Vivo (Brazil) and everything worked fine prior to the upgrade (and after the downgrade).
I imagine it can be a problem with APN configuration under iOS 5 and I tried to configure it through a webpage, but I got a message that my phone already had a APN config (profile) and could not install another. Under Settings>General>Network I don't have the "mobile network option" nor the "profile" option.
Any thoughts? So far I haven't contacted other people under my carrier who upgraded to see if they had the same problem.

I got a workaround; it's not what I wanted, but it solves the main problem.
I noticed that I only lost data connectivity after restoring from backup after the iOS 5 update. So what I did was to backup my phone, restore again to iOS 5, configure as a new phone and backup again (with nothing in the phone).
Then I launched an iPhone backup utility software, in this case, iBackupBot, which in the trial version is enough for what I wanted. I opened the old backup and exported only the files I wanted (like call history and SMS history), then I imported these files into the new backup and restored from it.
I lost my media files (which I copied before) and some configurations, but the most important itens, like SMS, I managed to export from the old (complete) backup.

Map Loader Bug Re. Lost Internet Connection

Don't really know how to alert the programmers behind the Map Loader software to a fairly major software bug.
If the internet connection is - even very briefly - interrupted for even a second, the Map Loader software gives an error message.
BUT - big problem - the map selection CLEARS so you can't resume from where you left. Nor can you see which maps had successfully downloaded while the connection was active, so you have to download the WHOLE list again.
Please update for the next release.

If you were using MAC filtering on your router, you would know how to fix this. If you do not know what it is, you do have have MAC filtering enabled on the router -- or you are not the router administrator. So -- don't worry about MAC filtering or go find the router administrator and ask to be let in (you will need the MAC address of the printer -- get a print out of the network page from the printer).

You did say the printer lost Internet connection -- this is a bit different from losing connection from your home network. You seem to be implying that your printer has lost its ePrint connection without actually saying you have lost ePrint.

Lost internet connection when macbook wakes up

I didn't have any problem with this before until recently. The day before yesterday, when I woke up in the morning and I found out that I have lost the internet connection. I've always set my macbook to sleep after it idles for 1 hour (with that in mind, I never sign off AIM/ICHAT) but never (ever!) lost internet connection. Since then, this always happen everyday.
What happened here? Can somebody help me? Perhaps you could give e a step-by-step trick to make my macbook setting back to normal
