I've lost my Mac OS when Windows loaded

I needed to load windows on a Mac using bootcamp so I could run a windows based graphic program. After going thru bootcamp and loading windows I seemed to have lost my Mac OS. When it comes to picking which system to use, there is only one. I backed up my Macbook Pro before doing this so I can start over. When I had to decide which partition to use Im guessing I picked the wrong one. Is there a way to know which to use when doing this again?
Thanks
Jeff
Also try to use simple explanations cause I am not a computer geek. Just know enough to get in trouble, which Ive done.
Thanks again

None that I have used. Poking around the web, I unearthed rEFIND, a SourceForge project. It may do what you want but, since I don't want to foul my boot process, I have not tried it.
By the way, if you have devices attached that are not bootable (I have a hardware peripheral plugged into my USB port for use in Windows; it's NOT a storage device), then booting with the option key may hang, giving you a blank screen "forever." Such devices need to be unplugged prior to booting. A disk not having boot blocks is NOT in that category; I have one of those. When I boot with the option key down, it just doesn't appear in the selection.

works fine on macs but when i load the page on p.c i get 404 media not found. Which is odd since it works on any mac i've tried on the same network, does anyone have any ideas?

I too am having the 404 media not found on my blogs, but its on both my mac and pcs. I am wondering if your macs can see it because of them being bound to the server?? Just an idea, which doesn't help me at all. So if you find a way to fix it please please post it.

  • Satellite P100 - 429 A3 Turning off when windows loads

Heya. This is a serious problem that has rendered my Notebook unusable. I was just wondering if anyone knows what it is.
I was in a source game when it happened for the first time, I jumped in the game and the laptop just cut out. No shutting down, it just turned straight off as if someone had held the power button. I stared at it for a minute then powered it back on. It seemed to go fine, I thought it was just an odd hiccup, but then after it had finished the windows loading screen, it did exactly the same thing. Now every time I start up, it get's past the loading screen and sometimes it get's to the Welcome message, soemtimes before the cursor is even loaded it will turn off in the same mannor.
The only things I have recently changed is the BIOS (which is my obvious suspicion.) I was just browsing the Toshiba website drivers page and I found a BIOS update for my Notbook cliaming that it had been improved. So I downloaded and installed it, once the installation had done it's job the Notebook restarted, but on first run Windows bluescreened before it had even loaded. Then after that it was working fine until now.
I also tried to use a Windows disk to do a recovery of windows. However, the recovery console caused the same thing. Within a few seconds of initializing, the computer just cut out.
If anyone has a clue what's goind on, please let me know.
Sorry for any typos, I'm not on a familiar keyboard.
    Thanks again.

Well, this sounds like an overheating issue. Fact is that all internal devices run with a full performance during the game playing. This leads to a high temperature inside the notebook. If your ventilators are not free due to the dust and debris then the notebook will shouts down to prevent the hardware from damage.
In such cases the fan cleaning is necessary and advisable.
I have had a similar issue on my notebook and solved it using an compressed air spray!
In my knowledge the Sat P100-429 belongs to the PSPA3 series.
You should really be 100% sure that you use the right BIOS.
However, its also possible that the notebooks hardware malfunctions.
In such case the hardware check is needed. Such test can be done by an authorized service provider in your country.
    Good luck

  • Display not working, external display does, but blue screen when windows loads

Hi folks, wondering if anyone can help.
My DV6's display is no longer working.  An external VGA display works, but when it gets to the "welcome" screen as it loads into windows, I get a blue screen.  I was able to load into safe mode previously, but I foolishly reformatted and reinstalled windows thinking it might solve the problem.  Now I can't even get into safe mode because it won't allow a first time setup of Windows in safe mode.
I suspect this may be the death of my loyal notebook, but was hoping someone could propose a solution.
    Thanks!

    HI @Mikep037,
Thank you for your query, I am happy to assist you!
I understand that you are having an issue with your display.
You have reformatted and reinstalled Windows but are unable to complete the setup.
Did you do a recovery or did you reinstall Windows from a retail disk?

I just recently come into a problem on a dell all-in-one, where the computer has been updated to windows 8.1 and doesn't show users, only a blue screen with the power options and accessibility options and here is how I fixed it.
Note: you will lose your desktop apps
    1. Turn on computer and let load to the blue screen with the options
    2. While holding down shift click on the power button and then click restart (while still holding shift)
    3. Hold shift until the advanced recovery options comes up
    4. click on Troubleshoot>Refresh your PC
    5.Enter password for user account
    6. Let it do its magic

    Hi,
Thanks for your sharing. And it will benifit others who encounter the similar issue as yours.
This issue can be caused by corrupted winlogon components.
You are right to refresh to repair the system.

Can see the PC volume from Mac side with files.

    EDIT: RESOLVED
For anyone else who finds their way here like I did, this link did it for me: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/527599/windows-8-issues-solved-please-r ead-if-you-39-re-having-black-screen-and-or-flickering-/
Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick.  I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally.  I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again.  I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time.  Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black.  I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?

I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?

I see.  Apple's documentation on what is included in the iCloud backup doesn't explicitly say that it contains voicemails, but that doesn't mean it does not.  You would just have to try restoring the backup to find out.
To restore to your iCoud backup you have to start by erasing the phone.  Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  Then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup.  You will then sign into your iCloud account, accept the terms and conditions, then choose the backup you wish to restore from.  To see an older backup, you may need to tap "Show older backups" (see image below).  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.
If this does not recover your voicemails, you can check to see if you have an older iTunes backup that may contain them.  Available backups are shown in iTunes Preferences>Devices on the Backups list.
If all else fails, you could try contacting your carrier.  Voicemail is a carrier feature and they may have an archive you could access.

sounds more like Bluetooth rather than moue, but w/o knowing w/o posting mac model type/year we... will... not... know... what you have
All computers are personal computers, a PC though is also "non-Apple" in common usage.
Mac also is platform and OS.
Very confused reading what you are trying to tell us.

  • Do you need an antivirus when windows 7 is installed on a mac book pro?

do you need an antivirus when windows 7 is installed on a mac book pro?

Microsoft Security Essentials is free and decent, don't beg you for cash.
Just keep Windows updated and don't use it online for anything except for updates if you can all help it.
Use OS X to go online and grab files, clean them using the free ClamXav before passing them onto the Windows side.
When you first setup Windows and have it updated, use the free WinClone to copy the Bootcamp partition to a external drive for safekeepiing.

Install VMware Fusion and then you'll be able to save to the Mac side from Windows. That's the way my MacPro is configured and even though I'm a Mac newbie, I've had no problems so far.
Note that this is very different than the MacDrive solution. If you are currently running BootCamp, that means you restart the Mac in Windows and OS X is not running, and you are using MacDrive to see the Mac disk. On the other hand if you are running VMWare Fusion, you are actually running the Mac in OS X the whole time and running Windows in virtualization within it, using a folder sharing feature to see the contents of the other operating system. It takes a lot more RAM to use virtualization because you are running 2 operating systems at the same time.
I do something similar to VMWare Fusion. I run Parallels Desktop because I want simultaneous access to both Mac OS X and Windows, and I use Parallels' Folder Sharing feature to see Mac folders.
Virtualization (running Windows inside OS X) is slightly slower and less compatible than Boot Camp (running Windows exclusively), so be aware that if you use the VMWare or Parallels solution, you are implementing a more radical workflow change than just reading Mac disks.

Hello, I am editing my final project at university on Premier Pro CC on mac, but when I try to load my project in Premier Pro CC for windows on my home pc i get  "codec missing or unavailable". Something to do with Apples' ProRes 422 LT codec. Is there a way round this problem?

I just went to the Miraizon site, who has been the sole licensee of ProRes for PC, to see if their $150/license download was still at that price.
This is what I found ...
They only sell a few of their other products, and the ProRes/DNxHD codec package only generates an email form to "support".
I'm afraid you'll have to transcode those files to something like DNxHD or an avi codec or something to work them via PC. And I'd thought about purchasing that codec pack from them but kept putting it off. Now, I wish I'd bought it. Ah well.
