If you mean the QT 7 Player app is missing, then use Pacifist to extract a new copy of the the player app from the QT Installer package and manually drop it back into your root hard drive's "Application" folder.

If QuickTime Player 7 isn't in the Utilities folder automatically, you can install it separately. See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3678
Instructions on how to register your QuickTime Pro key can be found in that same document.

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923
Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link  even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)

I upgraded to Loin and lost Quicktime. What is the fix?

How did you manage to lose Quicktime?
Quicktime Player should be in your Applications folder. If you had Quicktime Pro, then it should have been installed in your /Applications/Utilities folder as Quicktime Player 7.

  • Preferences Corrupt/Lost QuickTime Pro

My /Library/Preferences/ folder recently became corrupt. I figured no big deal, I can simply recreate my networks etc. However, it seems I lost QuickTime Pro and I don't know how to get this back. I received QuickTime Pro as part of Final Cut Studio so I don't have a serial number. Help?
I did not post this under Safari but some reason it decided to go there.

Not sure if we can "move" threads just yet in the new community format but you can re post in the QuickTime forum here.

  • HT2376 Lost Quicktime Pro registration key

I have lost the Quicktime Pro registration key but it is not listed in my order history on Apple's Online Store. Any suggestions? Thx!

Apple keep purchase information for up to 18 months, it is then deleted after this time.
If you did not keep the registration details from the purchase email, you will need to purchase it again.

  • HT2376 How to download lost quicktime keys?

HT2376 says how to go get the lost keys, but the pages have changed and I cannot find out where to go now to get my Quicktime keys.
Anyone know where Apple moved the link to?

No, Adobe doesn't retain legacy versions nor do they support them ad infinitum. You will have to find another source.

  • I've lost quicktime pro and can't find it. I had to re-install my HD and now QT Pro has gone and I can't find details of when I bought it.

I'm 10.6.8 and I use a Macbook Pro. I bought QT pro a while ago and since I've re installed my stuff all I've got is QT and I need the older version (that I paid for) to edit.
Any help will be much appreciated.

It's not the player I need
QuickTime Pro is not a separate application, so you won't find it by searching your system or by looking for a download. A Pro key just unlocks the extra features of QuickTime Player and the QuickTime browser plugin. You need the QuickTime Player 7 Kirk and I have referred to; only that version can be "unlocked" with a Pro key.
I can't find that either. I've trawled my email and can't find it.
Log into your account in the Apple Store and click on the Downloadable Software Purchases link. You should find the key shown there. If not, you may need to purchase a new key.

  • Lost quicktime desktop icon

I updated i-tunes to 7.5.5 version. When computer was done updating my i-tunes icon disappeared and reappeared again as it always does with an update. My quicktime icon disappeared too but never reappeared. I had many problems with quicktime on my old computer. I am trying to keep it all clean and working on my new laptop. Is there a way to get my icon back? Is this a sign that my quicktime is going to begin having problems again? Someone please advise! My i-tunes seems to be working fine at the moment.

The Desktop icon is merely a shortcut and most modern installers have a simple check box to allow one be made (or not).
Don't worry about it or make one.

  • Installed 10.4.3 and lost QuickTime Pro

Hope this hasn't already been asked...
I recently upgraded to Tiger and it caused me to lose my QuickTime Pro features. I have my Key and Part Number from my online purchase. Any way I can reinstate my purchasing of Pro without buying it again?
    Thanks.

If you have a key for QuickTime Pro 6, then you'll need to purchase a new key for Tiger. Only QuickTime Pro 7 works with Tiger.

  • Lost Quicktime

    Hi, Everyone!
I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard on my Macintosh, but I accidentaly deleted QuickTime Player X and I have'nt got a backup from when I had QuickTime. I tried to use Pacifist to 'Extract', but I can only get QuickTime Player 7 from that. My Mac came with Mac OS X Panther (or could be Tiger, I'm not sure) but trying to 'Install Bundled Software' Installs QuickTime 6 for me.
    Any Suggestions?
    Shaky672

Sorry, that DIDN'T solve my problem.

  • Lost Quicktime 7 moving to Lion

I have used Quicktime 7 for it's ability to delete soundtracks and the add sound to film functions. Having installed Lion I see that Quicktime 7 has been removed. Is there a similar program that has these functions, or can I upgrade my Quicktime 10 to regain these functions?

I have checked on my older computer and find that Quicktime 7 appears as Player rather than Pro. However, the registration numbers are visible. Doesn't this mean that this was a registered copy of QT7?  In anycase, it did not migrate to the Lion utilities folder.
I have explored trying to purchase a copy of QT7, as you suggested above, but Lion is not allowing such a download.

  • Lost QuickTime preference pane

    All,
After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I noticed I had two QuickTime players. Since one was version 10 and one was version 7, I deleted QT 7. I then realized my mistake and reinstalled QT 7 from the Snow Leopard DVD.
However, my QT preference pane in System Preferences is now gone. Anyone know how to get it back?
    Thanks in advance...

Without the QT preference pane, how can I specify that multiple movies opened in tabs in either safari or firefox not play automatically.
You can't without editing some hidden preferences. Some of the hidden preferences in QuickTime X Player can be changed by these AppleScripts, or so the author claims (I haven't tested them yet):
    http://web.me.com/celebi23/QuickTimeXScripts/Main.html
Another option is the QuickTime X Preference Pane:
