I've lost reload icon and all captions with icons. Help.

I installed a Mozy update, restarted, and found that firefox had lost the captions with the icons, the reload icon altogether. The customize box covers nearly the whole page and doesn't include as much as it used to. My Autofill is gone. And there is not Navigation Bar listed int the toolbars box.

Did you just move from Firefox Beta 28.0 to Firefox Beta 29.0? What you are experiencing is the new "Australis" user interface.
On first run, Firefox 29 should present a tour orienting you to the toolbar and menu bar changes. If that didn't run, perhaps there is a way to trigger it again? (I haven't tried it myself.)
If you prefer the familiar user interface of Firefox 28.0, you can install the "release" version in place of the beta version. A backup might be a good idea, but you don't need to remove the beta.

My hard drive crashed and i lost my itunes and all my songs...

as the title says my hard drive n my laptop crashed again and i lost my itunes and all of my songs on that cpu. however, i still have all of my songs on my ipod nano....when i get my laptop back from being fixed does anyone know if i will be able to put the songs back onto my itunes because i dont want to have to pay for them again. thanks

If your harddrive ever crashes again, and you connect your iPod to that empty iTunes library, or your PC crashes and your iPod starts acting up you will be screwed if you don't have a backup

Hi,
usually when you upgrade, it should not delete your files, but if it happens, than you should have a backup.
Unfortunately it is very common, that people don't know, what exactly is in the backup.
The question is, what files exactly you are missing? Own pictures, or taken with the device? Purchased music form the iTunes Store, or own? ....
Documents and files are mostly up to the developer of the app, if they are part of the backup, usually not and you need to transfer them before.
In the backup you will find just pictures from the Camera Rolle folder, everything else you should have on the PC, if you had it on the device.
Same then for music, you can transfer purchased music from the device, but your own works just one direction, from PC to device, from device to PC it doesn't work.
In future I recomand you to be sure how the backup works or use a 3rd party app (iExplorer) where you have a little bit more "freedome" than with iTunes.
Or you maybe just restored from the worng backup

I lost the OSX and all files!

My five year old iMac 21.5" has been a dream to work with. I use Clam Xav ( I realise I am not supposed to need it) keep all Apple updates bang on and usually back up via Time Machine monthly; I forgot so had a two month loss.
Lightening had been forecast so to be safe I turned it off properly and waited before removing the plug from the socket on the wall. As it happens lightening never arrived so the following morning I switched on and was presented with the utilities screen which pointed out my options on restore. I used ™ to restore to my last save point of two months ago. Lots of updates and all is now well.
Then from Nowhere my 13.3" Macbook air did exactly the same thing two days later. I have the fully updated Clam Xav on that too. Unfortunately as I'd not saved the Time Machine saves I had were not suited to the Flash drive.
The only common denominator I can think I did was download three or four Mp3 music files from mpsbox.to. I have used this site a couple of times over a long period.
If then some form of trojan was downloaded and I missed it; ( I always scan any downloaded file before using or saving) what possible gain is there to wipe out the complete iMac and Macbook Air?
I'm a pensioner with limited knowledge on a Mac as I only came over five years ago; and up until now all has been fine. I never expected the entire operating system to be wiped so easily! I thought a Mac was an all singing beast?
Any thoughts.

All sorted! If you fail to log in to your Apple account (after the three failed attempts) which IS linked to the Macs in your household, you will get your OS X wiped. I lost everything. Fortunately I was able to use time machine and get it all back as it should have been.
Can't help thinking it was actually a complete and utter waste of time; it really wasn't that difficult. About the same as my post hoping to get some help?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Updated - now have lost apps centre and all apps an can't get them back on

I just updated to ios5 and have this icloud thing, but now I don't have my apps centre or any of my apps on my phone. I have tried to sync but the apps area on itunes does not let me do anything, its like it is frozen on my page. If I go to apps on the left hand side I can see them but I can't get them back on my phone or update them.....I am wondering if the icloud thing is the problem because I don't have wi-fi...PLEASE HELP!

I did have the apps button on my iphne screen from the very time i purchased it, it had the apps 'A' symbol and I could go into that to download apps onto my phone without having to connect to PC and going through Itunes...however now it doesn't exist. Yes I have tried restarting both the phone and the PC, Syncing, resetting Uby way of hitting both buttons on phone for a reboot etc. Yu know when you are in Itunes and you can go into your screen and move your apps from page to page or delete etc, well that page is totally frozen and I won't let me even click on it anymore. I have deleted and re download itunes and all of the apps.But still nothing, the apps are blurred on my screen and state - waiting

Captions and no captions with multiple slideshows (a bug in idvd 6?)

I am having a problem with the captions option in multiple slideshows, and am wondering if this a bug within idvd 6. My project has two slideshows which I created within idvd because I wanted the manual option of forwarding through your slides on tv. I have one slideshow with captions selected and the other has captions deselected. Both slideshows preview correctly in idvd, but when I burn the dvd to a disk, I either get both slideshows with captions or both without. The only way around this was to select captions for both slideshows and then manually delete the captions out of the slideshow that I didn't want them to appear. Is this a known glitch with idvd 6?

I foolishly tried this on a separate Mac on a different library, that one with 22000 images that I had not edited (since the old iPhoto would just die a slow death on that sized library).
I actually only spent the money for iPhoto 6 (iLife's remainder package did not have any compelling use for me right now) and its ability to handle 25000 images.
Well, it is faster (i.e. it does not go to sleep for 12 minutes) if I click the scroll button but the blank images problem showed up there also. And ALL of those pictures were standard jpgs and not one was from a weird camera or ever modified or otherwise tweaked if that were an excuse for iPhoto 6 misbehaving with some pictures.
VERY annoying and very strange that they would not see this in Beta testing. Assuming they do test. So, folks, if you are planning to buy iLife for iPhoto, be forewarned. I will add this to my TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY blog entries at http://imran.com/media/blog/ so people are aware.

Youtube has a left side [split window] open on the same video for months. I can't close it and it plays the same song over and over again when I open firefox. I've uninstalled and re-installed firefox and checked all settings with no help

I know the Firefox developers had good reasons for introducing this feature, but they failed to consider their users who are web developers.
I've installed a web server on my computer to help with web design, and I access the homepage through http://localhost
However this won't work in offline mode, and (with my dial-up connection and all) it's not practical to always dial in to my ISP just to have Firefox start in online mode, plus I don't need to be *actually/literally* online to access my local web server. And the extra clicks to File -> Work Offline are a pain.
The best option IMHO would be to provide a pain-free way to disable this setting for advanced users. Emphasis on *pain-free*.
My 2 cents, for myself and (hopefully) on behalf of the poor, forgotten web designers out there.

Opening PDFs in a certain folder with Adobe and all others with Preview

I know how to right click and use "open with" and how to set the default application under Info.
What I want to do is set all PDF files in a certain folder to open with Adobe's Reader when I open the file. However, I'd prefer using Preview for the other PDF files not in that certain folder or sub folders.
Is this possible?

Yes but that is just for a particular file or group of files. I add files to that folder often.
I need to be able to apply the change to the directory level, not just the file level.

So I tried the creating a new profile and all that, didn't help. Firefox still shows up on the process window, but wont open

So I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it, rebooted my computer, troubleshooted, ended the process and all the combinations of those. I created a new profile, since my settings may have been corrupted and followed the steps, and nothing. I've restored to a previous date, everything. Nothing works. It shows the process is running, but nothing show's up. I tweaked with the compatibility to see what would happen and chose to run it in 640x480 and it apparently worked, but it comes up invisible? I've asked people for help, but all they've done is called me a noob and told me to switch off to google chrome. If someone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Also, I'm currently running Windows 7 starter for an OS.

Have Tesco unlocked the iPhone ?
If the iPhone was on a Tesco contract it is more than likely locked to them and will not work with another network

G4 powerbook and G3 desktop with linksys help

In either case, laptop, or g3, I can type in the linsys router address and get to config page, but on either - I cannot access the internet. On my laptop, wirelessly - I have tried the WPA password avenue and all kinds of different scenarios, then I realized it was not just wireless, but also the desktop that has ethernet cable to linksys...
I just don't get it...?? What am I missing?

What type of connection are you using? Cable or DSL? If it's a cable, DHCP configuration will work in the router, if you have a DSL, you probably have to set it up to use PPPoE.

Lost Eudora settings and all with Tiger Update but...

When I open the mail icon for Eudora on my desktop a new application opens. It's asking for new info as if i'm a new user. I can access the old application, settings and mailboxes and past mail all intact, if I open a back up folder. but it's not an application file (it's an icon that looks like a piece of mail with a list) the file is call 'Eudora settings.bkup'
Help.

I tried it. but it didnt' work. It keeps defaulting or overriding to a new set up. Have any suggestions? Is there a way to run the folder somewhere else yet still open up the application on the dockk.
Here are some more details if that's helpful.
I can only open the old version/settings from a the Eudora Settings.Backup file like I said before. That particular back up file is on a 'Eudora Folder Copy' that is on the desktop. So there is an existing file in the my User file in the documents folder where it is supposed to live. I guess this is where the conflict lies. What else.... I think that's it.
Any help you can offerer I'd appreciate. I find that the people who experience the same difficulties and get through them seem to offer good advice.
