I've lost the Firefox tab

I clicked tools, then options - didn't change anything, but when I closed out the Firefox tab in the upper left corner was gone replaced by a tiny Firefox icon with File, edit, View, etc under it. How do I get it back?

In current Firefox releases (29 and later), that have have the Australis user interface, the orange Firefox menu button has been replaced by the three-bar Firefox Menu button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar and this button is always visible, whether you have the menu bar visible or hidden<br>A consequence of this location is that you no longer can hide the Navigation Toolbar
*There is a star like button to the right end of the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current web page and a "Show your bookmarks" button next to it to open the Bookmarks in a drop down menu.<br>You can find "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at the bottom of this drop-down list
*It is still possible to have the menu bar visible via the right-click context menu on the toolbars to have menus like the Bookmarks menu
*<br>*If you bookmark a page then "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark"

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

  • Why do I lose my "Groups" after I exit Firefox? How can I get them to remain for my next session. I exit the program through the Firefox tab.

I am running Windows 7 on my laptop, and lately when I close Firefox (under the Firefox tab with 'exit' ), the groups I have created do not reboot the next time I sign onto Firefox. What do I need to do?....I have even checked the "History" options but I can't find a way except to reload ezch page individually. Help!

Are using "Clear history when Firefox closes" ?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • I can't find the Firefox tab that takes me to edit and print et al. unless I have a little bitty screen.

I just got a new computer and got changed to windows 8, and the guy set it up with internet explorer when I was accustomed to using firefox. My son put it on firefox, but I can't find the firefox tab with access to edit, print, print preview, etc. , except when I have the firefox box on three quarters of the screen, which is too small. How do I get it to fill up the screen and still give me the little box so I can print? Please don't answer with an avalanche of gibberish, because my computer understanding is negligible.

Hi Senyax, how are you enlarging Firefox when you want it larger? These will give you different results:
    (1) Maximize the window (middle button between _ and X)
You should still be able to see the top bar of the window with the orange Firefox button. If you can't see any of it, one of your Firefox settings files might be corrupted.
    (2) Full screen (F11 key or orange Firefox button > Full Screen)
By default, nothing other than the website shows in full screen mode. Although you can have the tab bar and toolbar display (slide your mouse to the top of the screen and right-click a blank area of the tab bar, then uncheck "Hide Toolbars"), you cannot use the orange Firefox menu button in this mode.

  • I keep downloading Firefox 4 but the Firefox tab above says I have 3.6 (and I have restarted), so what am I doing wrong?

I click save on the prompt for the download and then run it and see the bar filling up. But nothing, including restarting, makes the Firefox tab on the upper left of my computer say I have 4 rather than 3.6. How can this be remedied?

Did you install it? When you finish downloading it should be a dmg file, if you double-click that it will mount the disk image, and in there you just drag the firefox icon into your Applications folder (it shows you exactly what to do, although you do need to make sure FireFox is not running when you do it)

  • After Firefox has been on for awhile, the Firefox tabs on the task bar disappear even though the pages are still running. I have to use Ctrl+Tab to fix it

I have started using Firefox recently. My computer is running XP. I notice that whether I have one Firefox window or multiple windows open, after awhile the Firefox tabs on the bottom task bar just disappear.
In order to get them back I have to use Ctrl+Tab to select each window one at a time and then they re-appear again on the task bar. Then after awhile they will disappear again.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
    Thank you.

  • The Firefox tab on my homepage is missing

I have just downloaded Firefox. however, the firefox tab from top of screen,
my screen reads "Ask question of Mozilla Support"
I cannot activate all the tabs as per your tuition.

Such problems can be caused by an extension like the Yahoo! Toolbar or a Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Every time I start the internet two tabs open, the firefox welcome page and my normal search page. How can I get rid of the firefox tab as I don't want this everytime I open the internet

How can I turn off the Firefox tab before it opens. At the moment everytime I start the Internet two tabs open. I want to turn off the firefox tab before it opens.

    Hi davesummers,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Since loading FireFox 4, I have lost the "Close tab" facility, so only have the option to exit - Is this correct?

If I follow a link from an e-mail, I can no longer just close that tab to return to my e-mails, only exit, where I have to login again.
    Surely this is wrong!

Where are you looking for close Tab?
You can middle click a tab to close the tab or right click a tab. If you want to do that via the File menu then you need to use the keyboard (Alt+F) to open the File menu because some menu entries are hidden in Firefox 4 if you use the mouse.
Set the pref browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing that window.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • I have lost the Firefox start page, so can't access the Firefox tab. I keep getting Ask, which I don't want

For some reason I have started to get a blank type page, rather than the Firefox start page when I open firefox. The blank page has no firefox tab at the top left so I cannot access any of the firefox features by the tab. Also the blank page does not show my bookmarked websites which is an inconvenience. Whenever I type in a search word, the results come up in a page of information promoted by 'Ask"'. I don't want this. I don't know how this has happened but I cannot seem to find a fix. I uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled to see if this would work, but it has not. Can someone help please.

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

  • After I upgraded Firefox I lost the "Popular" tab that had stuff like Ebay and Craigslist on it. How do I get it back?

The old tab would drop down and show all the sites like Ebay, Craigslist, etc. And there was one that had news that I really liked as well that is now gone.

That sounds like a feature that was created by one of your add-ons, specifically, an extension. Perhaps it needs an update? You can review your currently enabled and disabled extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Command+Shift+a
    * Tools menu > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. If an extension is disabled, it moves to the bottom on a grayed out background. Can you find any logical candidates there? If so, please try re-enabling them, and/or click the "gear" button at the top of the list to Check for Updates.
    Any luck?
Alternately, it could have been a feature of your home page. Did your home page change?

  • I lost the books tab in itunes how do i get it back?

I use overdrive to listen to books.
the tab for books in I tunes is gone (it may have be caused by me)
    ANyway to get it back?

Thanks, but there's nothing in there I find that tells me how to get my Menu bar back. All of chatzilla's options are in the menu bar for any settings to be made. Without that, I have no hope of fixing what went wrong. I tried removing and reinstalling chatzilla, but that didn't work. My problem is that I lost the menu bar at the top of the chatzilla window. If I can't get that back, then I'll just have to deal with it until I'm able to buy a new machine, which I need anyhow. But being as this happened from something I did, there should be a way to undo what I did, or at least get back the menu bar.

  • I can't get the Firefox tab in order to access all the choices there. Where is it?

In the Mozilla support, it keeps telling me to click on the orange Firefox tab at the top of my screen. I don't have one and can't find how to make it appear. Any advice?

For new installs, Firefox on Vista and higher will show an orange Firefox button. For users who upgraded from Firefox 3.6, I think you kept the classic menu bar.
If you want to switch: [[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar]]
If you want to find the Options dialog on the menu bar: it's on the Tools menu

  • I lost the Firefox Icon in the upper left corner of desk top - drop down menu.

Its the orange bar with down arrow. How do I get it back ????????

As far as I know the standard option is to have either the firefox button or the menubar toolbar. Additionally if you press the keyboard Alt key then the menubar displays with the firefox button. (In windows just press the alt key,in linux hold the alt key down)
I have fixed the link in the last post, you should get something similar to this: https://support.mozilla.org/media/uploads/gallery/images/2011-10-06-03-46-34-2722c3.png when you click on the firefox button
If you want to display the menubar instead of the firefox button then use
    * Firefox button -> Options -> Toolbars -> [] Menubar
    * or right click an empty space on the tabs toollbar and select menubar in the dropdown

  • I lost the close tab under File, how can i get it back

if i don't have the close tab under File, i have to exit totally out of firefox which i don't want to do. How can I get the close button back?

    Hi,
Please try pressing '''Alt''' + '''F''' on the keyboard. This brings out the full '''File''' menu. You can also try to close a tab by pressing the middle button of the mouse when the mouse pointer is over a tab, or clicking on the '''x''' on the right edge of a tab.
