I've managed to lose all my entourage data

I tried to move my documents folder to the Home folder. I then managed to create an alias folder for the desktop. But when I logged on to Entourage again, it acted like it's brand new and is welcoming me to Microsoft. I can't access my old emails/folders and address book! What can I do to get it back?

Not sure what you mean there. The Documents folder is already in each user's Home folder to begin with.
I then managed to create an alias folder for the desktop.
Why would you need to do that in the first place? Not scolding, just trying to determine what the purpose was.

You need to get the Documents folder, and everything within back to to its original location. Entourage only looks for your email data in one place. If it's not there, it creates a new one.
1) Open the folder for the startup hard drive. It will be the top right icon.
2) Double click the folder "Users" to open that folder. Double click your user account. That will be the one with an icon of a house.
3) Put the original Documents folder back into that folder. The OS may have created a new Documents folder. Go through it first to see if there's anything you need to save. Once you get the original folders back where they came from, Entourage should be able to see your email.

If you had previously been backing up to iCloud (or a computer with iTunes), you would possibly have a backup.  That said, if you can't turn the phone on, you cannot create a backup of the device now.  Sorry.

  • ITunes lost all of its data will my iPad lose all of its data too?

I opened my iTunes then all my music, movies, etc. are gone. I'm afraid if my iPad/itouch will lose all of its data if I sync it to my empty iTunes.

if you do a sync with itunes on your computer before the restore and a sync after the restore (making sure you have set all the the things you want synched turned on) - it should put all of the data back on your restore ipad
when you do a restore (making sure you did a sync before the restore) - check restore from backup not restore as a new device

  • I was trying to update sofwatare for my iphone 4s, i got stuck with recovery mode and only option i see is to restore from factory setting. Do i lose all the the datas ? i did't had any backup. What is a solution?

If you didn't back it up, your data is gone. There is no "solution" after the fact.

  • My Macbook drive was replaced. If I sync my IPod Touch I'll lose all the old data on my IPod. Can I restore my iPod data to my computer?

My Macbook drive was replaced. If I sync my IPod Touch I'll lose all the old data on my IPod. What do you do when you buy a new computer or have a new hard drive?  Can I restore my iPod data to my computer?

See this article for details: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
    Or do this:
Make sure your Mac is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your MacBook.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • My iPhone was connected to my old laptop but that laptop is broken now i want to connect it to a new laptop but when i do that do i also lose all the application data?

    Hello,
just to explain quikly how my situation is I bought an IPhone and connected it to my regular computer, a few weeks after that i bought an macbook because my old computer was having problems with all kinds of things. recently my old computer "died" and now i cant add any music to my IPhone unless i connect it to my macbook but it's saying it will delete everything on the IPhone and use this library but does it also delete all the application data? for a quik example. Angry birds do you lose your progress on it?
    thank you for helping, Blackhounter

If you are saying that you didn't back up your old computer ever, especially when you knew it was failing, then you are out of luck; you cannot restore a backup that doesn't exist. However, you can probably save some of your content from the iPhone as follows:
Connect your iPhone to your new computer, but do not sync
Authorize iTunes on the new computer to your iTunes account
Go to the iTunes File menu and choose "Transfer purchases"
Click on the phone's name in iTunes and then click on the Info tab on the right
Set up apps on your computer to sync contact, notes and calendar to
Make sure there is at least one of each in the apps you have selected
    Sync
You will still lose any non-iTunes music and videos, and any photos in the photo album (but you will not lose the camera roll).

how do i get my phone out of recovery mode without restoring it. I have an iphone 4. i have nothing backed up to icloud and i really cant lose all of my data

You don't. Once it's in recovery mode, anything that was on the phone is already gone.

  • Want to reinstall OS Tiger but don't want to lose all my settings, data

    Please Help
My computer has been having kernel panics - I was told reinstalling the OS may fix it.
Is there a way to reinstall OS X without having to completely wipe the drive and reinstall everything (applications, pop email accounts in mail, etc.)? I'm also working on a Final Cut Project and don't want that harmed.
Can I refresh the OS without altering or erasing data?

I would make sure to have a complete backup of all your important data. This is always a necessity, but is more of one now since your are experiencing trouble.
And take a look at the following regarding kernel panics:

  • Did I lose all of my data trying to install XP in Bootcamp???

Ok so I need to know if I am out of luck!
I have been using Parallels but decided to use Boot camp. I went through the process of partitioning 12 or 13GB for Windows XP in the Boot camp app within OSX and then rebooted as it told me and put in the Windows XP disk. The only issues I can see is I used Windows XP Service Pack 1 and not 2 or later as required. Not sure if this could really screw anything up or if it just wouldn’t work. Then in the XP install it asked me what partition to use and format and I selected C: and did NTFS. I didn’t complete the install and when it reboots the only option I get if I take the XP CD out is to go into Windows. I used one of the CD’s that came with the system and it doesn’t seem to find my OSX install but I am still showing 150GB free which is what I had free before so I still have hope that my data may at least be there.
Any thoughts or advice? I tried to call Apple last night since I spent $249.00 on support and it said they closed at 9:00 Eastern Time? Is that true or could I be using the wrong number.
Is my OSX install gone or just hidden somewhere and is all my data gone, please say no.
This is making me curse ever trying to put Windows on there but they give you the option and I have some apps that don’t work on Mac and I don’t want to use to computers…
    Thanks,
    Tucker

Yeah I did some quick google searches for info last night and tried rebooting holding down the Option Key as I booted and all I got was the Windows Option. I tried putting the Apple Disks in to see if the OS was still there and it didn't show it...
So you say if "If ONLY Windows shows as an option then we have an issue to deal with." Does this mean there is a fix / solution? I have so many photos of my son (7 months old this weekend) on there that I irresponsibly didn't back up.
Any help would be greatly appreciate.
    Thanks,
    -Tucker

  • How can I sync my iPad with a new laptop (same itunes account) and not lose all my app data, i.e. games data stored on the ipad, not the app itself?

I want to sync my iPad with a new laptop, so I can get rid of the old computer.  I have already downloaded all the itunes content on the new laptop, but when i go to sync, it tells me that itunes will erase and copy all the apps from the new library.  The 2 computers are on the same account, so is there a way to copy the apps (including app data) onto the new laptop, instead of vice versa?

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I also dont want to erase any data because i have a lot of apps and songs that costed a lot that i dont want to lose and they arent hooked up with a computer. PLEASE HELP!!!!!! Thanks!

If you have never synced with a computer, you have no choice but to erase it and set it up as new.
Apps can be re-downloaded for free and, in most countries, music can be re-downloaded for free also.

  • HT1212 I can not remember my passcode on my iphone 4s. I tried it 5 times told me to try again in 60 minutes. Will I lose all my photos, data, contexts and texts if I try again. Or is there a way to restore it? I do not have an icloud or itunes account.

I can not remember my passcode on my iphone 4s. I tried 5 times. Told me to try again in 60 minutes. Will i lose my data, contacts, photos and texts if I enter it incorrectly again?

I believe if you really cant remember it, you can restore your phone by plugging it into itunes. This would wipe your data, but hopefully you've already backed up your phone via iTunes or iCloud.

  • HT201412 while updating my iPad to ios7, it is stuck on the iTunes-USB screeen and frozen. What can be done without taking the chance to lose all of the data on the iPad?

While updating my iPad to ios7, it got stuck on the iTunes-USB screen and is frozen. No other screen shows up when I turn it off or on.

If it's showing the iTunes icon and USB then that means that it's gone into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
Prior to starting the update you took a backup ? If not then it's now too late to do so, you will need to reset the iPad back to factory defaults and you can then restore to your last backup or resync your content.
