I've rebooted both my phone and computer and iTunes 12.0.1 still won't let me sync

I have a iPhone 5s currently and i just updated my iTunes to 12.0.1 and it will not let me sync so i rebooted my phone and my computer as told on the internet and it still won't let me sync or recognize my iPhone.. please help!

I have tried to acrivate my phone both on itunes and on my phone. Im not surwe what to do anymore? the message it says to me on my phone is "Your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try this .... reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Think you got to reboot or relaunch iTunes after the Authorization.

You activate it on a Mac in System Preferences/iCloud. You manage it from www.icloud.com in the Safari browser that came on the Mac.

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

I've been getting the same message for like an hour now. Since everything was working fine a few hours ago, and nothing changed on my end before it stopped working, I'm guessing it's something on Apple's end. Turn off Find My iPhone in iCloud on the iDevice.
Log out of iMessage, Facetime, remove Apple ID from iTunes & App Store.
Use Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Then set it up as a new iPhone with your own Apple ID.

I've noticed that since my restore, her phone has picked up what looks like the symbol of a phone in the upper right corner of the display, right next to the Bluetooth symbol.

It sounds like your iPhones may be using a new feature in iOS 8 called Continuity. The following article and information explains how to set up this feature for phone calls. You can review the information on the setup to reverse this effect. My suggestion would be to turn off FaceTime on one of the devices.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity
Phone calls
With Continuity, you can make and receive cellular phone calls from your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network.
To make and receive phone calls, here's what you need:
Sign in to the same iCloud account on all your devices, including your Mac.
Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later. Your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
All devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same iCloud account. This means any device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off. Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.

When we answered the call on the IPad the callers image only appeared in the portrait mode and any attempt to rotate the Ipad to the landscape mode did not change anything. Any suggestions?
