I've sent my iPhone 5 in for a replacement; would Apple be willing to exchange for a 5s?

Does anyone know if Apple would be willing to exchange my iPhone 5 for a 5s? I've just sent it in for repair.

Replacements are exact same model, color, and capacity.

  • I want to replace my iPhone 4 screen but apple store will only exchange for £119

I want to replace the screen of my iPhone 4. The Apple store in Bristol will only replace the entire Phone for £119. Any suggestions? I could do it myself but I'm not sure about using non OEM replacement screens.

You can look for 3rd party repair shops, but they will also be using non OEM parts.

  • If I buy an iPhone 5s unlocked from a USA apple store will it work in the UK

If I buy an iPhone 5s unlocked from a USA apple store will it work in the UK

Only if it is unlocked, and they are not selling the unlocked iPhone at the Apple store yet.
EDIT:  I'm sorry, I missed that you referred to iPhone 5S. There should be an unlocked 5S, and it could work in Malaysia, but probably not with all of the bands there. Also, the warranty for the device is good only in the US.

  • If I buy a iphone 6 on contract from an Apple store will it be locked

If I buy a iphone 6 on contract from a Apple store will it be locked?

to lock with the first sim one put in makes not sense
unlocked phones cost the true price of the phone
the reason why locked phones cost more is because the carrier they are locked to pay the difference and expect to make their profit by the users usage
to lock automatic to the first sim one put in would mean that carrier would not had paid the difference so apple would not get anything out of it
and the user would not get anything out of it, the only who would, would be that random carrier sounds like a lotto system for sim locks

  • My apple id will not work for my icloud account

my apple id will not work for my icloud account I am running windows 7 I have reinstalled ICloud for PC several times but do not know where to set up an icloud account

If you are getting a message that says you have a valid Apple ID but not an iCloud ID, it's because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC.  You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher.  After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

Usually an update specifically linked to a software item will only modify that item ... and do as it says ... update it.

  • While actively using the iPhone 5, Apple logo will randomly appear for a few seconds, then show up at the lock screen

This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen an iPhone do.  I recently got the iPhone 5 from Verizon, 16GB (if that even matters) running iOS 6.0 respectively.  This has happened 3-5 times since I started using it last Friday when they started to deliver.  When this incident occurs, I'll be using my phone, as in it's unlocked and it's not just sitting.  Then, the Apple logo will appear and if I didn't know any better, I'd think my phone was turning on.  However, it only stays that way for a few seconds until it shows the lock screen, imitaing a startup.  The weird thing is, the startup time is ~30 seconds everytime I turn my device off and turn it back on.  This incident where it'll appear to be just turning on while I'm using the phone will only last for ~5 seconds.  Plus, during the incident, it nevers actually turns off the display or goes completely black.  It'll just snap directly from me using the phone to the Apple logo, then the lock screen after a few seconds.  Also, cellular services are immediately recognized after the incident, when starting up it usually take about 30 seconds.  I can't confirm this or not, but I believe this incident occurs when I press the home button to exit an app.  However, when it happens it strikes me by surprise and I can't confirm or not if this happens only when I'm exiting an app.  Not sure if this is an iPhone 5 specific problem or an iOS 6 problem...I can't really assume it's a bad power connection, since like I said it doesn't imitate a full startup of the phone, it just goes throught the screens (Apple logo -> lock screen.)
And as a side note, I restart my phone daily.  And as rare of a problem this is, I'm not going to restore or wipe my phone and start fresh.  Just wanted to see if there was anybody else experiencing this problem and to make the problem aware. Thanks in advance for any help!!

I had this same thing happen to me.  I was using my brand new iphone 5 (texting and listening to music through the speakers) when it flashed the apple logo, stopped my music and brought me to the lock screen.

  • I dropped my iPhone 4 & cracked its screen. Apple wants me to pay for replacement unit (I agree), turn in my old phone (??) & wait for 6 days (no problem). What do I do to access emails, Internet & make/receive calls during these 6 days?

I dropped my iPhone 4 & cracked its screen. I went to the service center to get it repaired. SInce it is not under warranty, i was willing to pay for repair charges.
They told me that the screen can not be repaired or changed, but they can replace my damaged set with an equivalent set, on payment of RM 760, roughly, 25-30% cost of a new one. I agreed.
    They told me to:
    1/ pay upfront
2/ leave my old set with them
3/ and the replacement unit will be delivered in 4-6 days.
I agreed on 1& 3 but not to leave my damaged set with them because it is still working and I don't have another spare phone with me, to serve me the 4-6 day waiting period.
THe service center guy told me that if I want a replacement, I have to agree to all 3 conditions and that I should buy another phone for 6 days. I told him that I constantly need email & Internet access, as part of my work responsibilities, so I can not do with a simple phone. It obviously, doesn't make sense to buy an expensive smart phone, go thru the trouble of transferring my data & mails & contacts - just for a week.
Unfortunately, all these logics fell on deaf ears & the service centre guy kept insisting on ALL of the above conditions.
I came back so flustered & upset.
I thought customer service was about solving problems & not creating hurdles for customers.
    what should I do?
    ANy advice?

What would you do for transportation if you drove your car into a tree and had to wait while it was fixed? You'd need to rent, borrow or buy another car, no? The same applies to your phone. This is not Apple's problem; if the service center does not have replacements in stock for immediate swap-out, then it's up to you to provide a backup device or do without.
If you're in a country where Apple provides direct service for iPhones, you may be able to call Apple support and arrange for advance replacement, where they send you the replacement phone and then you send back the old one. Apple offers such service in several countries, though you have to pay an extra fee for the service. If not, then you'll just have to wait for the service center to get in the replacement, and will have to arrange an alternative to use during that time.
    Regars.

  • HT4528 Would Apple allow me to exchange my white iphone 4s that I've had for about 5 months for a black one?

I knew I wanted a black one at first, but there were none available. Can I still get a black one? My phone is in excellent condition.

I keep on seeing people say 14 days but I remember in December when we bought an iPhone the people in the Apple Store (US) said 30 days.  30 days also corresponds with what I read here:
Apple Store (US) Sales and Refund Policy - http://store.apple.com/us/open/salespolicies
"For iPhone returns, you may return your undamaged iPhone with its included accessories within 30 days of purchase for a full refund."
It looks like 30 days is for the phone but 14 days is for everything else:
"For any other product, simply return it with the original receipt (or gift receipt) and original packaging within 14 days of the date you receive the product."

  • HT204400 Apple TV will not ask for my wifi password to connect - it says it is connected but it is not- i click on my wifi and says connected but does not ask for my password

I just hooked up my Apple TV - it is all connected correctly- when my wifi comes up on my tv screen i click and select it. It then says it is "connected" , but it is not as is it has not asked for the password for my wifi. I have turned it all off and back on, I have restarted it as well. I do know why it will not ask for my password - am I missing something?

It will not ask after it is already connected.  Is ATV working?  Can you connect to the iTunes store, Netflix, etc?
