I've started having problems with downloading and opening PDF files. Any hints?
This started late yesterday and I've been unable to download or open or view any PDF files. I've restarted my computer a few times, made sure Preview was open then when those things didn't work downloaded Adobe PDF reader and that didn't work either. Any other ideas????
Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

How do you download and open PDF files that come in the email?
I can NOT download or open PDF files. It prompts me to open in IBooks and then it's not there. I am so frustrated. PLEASE HELP!
Touch the attachement once to download it. Then touch it a second time, after it is downloaded ( watch the attachment icon) to open it in quick view. if you want to do something more than just view it, and if you want to save it, Touch and hold the downloaded attachment to get the 'open in' pop up, and any app that supports PDFs, like I books, or any of the other PDF ready apps.
If it is not downloaded yet, it will not be in I books. -
While I was working on my Mac last night, I got a message that I needed to download an Adobe (I think an Acrobat X Pro) update. I did. That seems to be the time when I started having problems. Now I can't use the uninstaller for the program. I think that may be the problem, but my ability to fix it stops here.
I'm usually more discerning about updates, etc, but I was working on a project and the flashing updater was bothering me, so I hit yes, not really looking at the app I was updating. Ugh. My mistake.Hi hobanny,
Have you looked at the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] Knowledge Base article? There is a lot of useful information in there. It actually lists two different plugins to try for opening PDF files. I'd try both of them just to be safe.

Having trouble with pse7 and opening jpg files
I have been using pse7 for quite some time and today I have started having trouble. It is as if the program is "not responding" for a time. So here is what is going on . . . I can open a file or group of files (jpg images) and then when I ctrl+o to open something new I can't see what is in the folders . . . and eventually it won't even let me open anything. I will ctrl+o and the little blue circle will move, but then go back to the arrow without going to my folders. I'm not sure if this is making any sense, but it is REALLY frustrating me!!! I have restarted my computer several times today and it is not helping. Last week I did update the driver for my printer and now I'm not able to print anything from PSE . . . I don't know if this is part of the problem. I was getting the "not enough memory (RAM)" message last week as well. I don't know if all of this is together, but it is driving me crazy!!! I am in the process of downloading the pse9 trial and I'm hoping that this will help.

You can go to Edit menu > Preferences > Performance
Move the slider to the right to increase the memory allocated to PSE
Also, increase the Cache level.
Restart PSE Editor
The problem also can be, that you have several programs running on your system. You might want to close unwanted programs while working on several images in PSE. This also reduces the available memory for PSE to work on.

All pdf-links are working fine and the correct document is displayed in a new browser window. but if I open a WORD-document and after that I click on another link to a pdf-file, the WORD-file is loaded again in the new window. Only if I close the window which contains the WORD-document, I can download the correct pdf after that.
Is something wrong with the response header (I tried "attachment" instead of "inline" too but without effect)?
Can anybody help?More than you asked for but good stuff. Permissions is buried in there somewhere.

There are many web sites that I visit to download statements that are in PDF format. In Firefox 3.6, when I selected a statement to download, Firefox opened a new window that indicated that the PDF is being downloaded. When the download is complete Firefox either opens the document or the document is opened outside of Firefox by Adobe Reader. In both Firefox 4 and 5, the PDF file download never occurs. This functionality has always worked in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. I currently use Adobe Reader X 10.1.0. I tried going back to Adobe Reader 9.4.5, but this did not make a difference. So I think the problem is in Firefox.

Having problems with LR4 and NAS stored files.
I recently established a NAS Raid 5 to store my photo library. I have found out that LR4 does not sinc up to the stored files. Are there any solutions.

Hi everybody. I have recently started having problems with iCal (Version 2.05 (1069). Events that I thought I had deleted appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. Likewise Events that I have not deleted have disappeared from my calender (Month View) but appear in Print Preview and Print Outs. I see that there have been similar problems with Events disappearing especially in Month View. I wondered how print preview seemrd to be picking everything up deleted or not, and what the solution may be?. First time of Posting. I hope I haven't embarassed myself.

At the very least there must be a "com.apple.ical.plist"...iCal would not function without it.
Click on the Finder icon in the dock
Click on Go > Home
Double-click Library
Double-click Preferences
Look for a file called "com.apple.ical.plist" and remove it to the trash. -
I'm having problems with FlashPlayerPlugin and plugin-container. They keep starting up and bogging down the system. This has been a recent occurrance. I've made sure that I have the latest version. I notice the problem when I am opening some applicatio, and it freezes. If I go to Task Manager, I can see the two Adobe apps sucking up CPU cycles. If I end the processes, then the other apps continue. Today, I uninstalled FlashPlayerPluginqand plugin-container. All day since I have had no freezing of an app. What should I do to correct the problem?

My wife has been having problems with Safari, and many third party software and malware programs infecting her Mac Book Pro. I have tried to reset Safari but it keeps coming back, taking over Safari, changing defaults, start pages, and search engines, Etc.
Is it safe to use programs like MacKeeper, who keeps send my wife's computer message and alerts, or should I just wipe the drive and start over?

Who is your eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.
You may have multiple entries.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, more than one entry in Keychain for each in/out entry, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
