I've tried all the reported fixes to make Time Machine to get past 9.5 GB. This is a brand new iMac that came with 10.4.11 installed, we then installed 10.5.2 that came in the box for this machine. I have a new 150GB Firewire HD that I formated and partitioned using "GUID" scheme. I repaired permissions on the iMac HD, with no errors. I tried "safe mode", reformatting and everything else that I can think of. Time machine still won't get by that 9. something GB and reports the error. Any help with this will be appreciated, Richard Dion (508) 881-2535

As stated no matter how hard i try i CANNOT get apps to appear in my sidebar library menu so i can update them through itunes.Has only happened since last update of itunes .Really wish i hadn't updated as i have never had an issue b4.Spent most of day on fone to apple yesterday as the update created an issue that meant i could not sync at all.Anyway thanks to 'james' in arizona we sorted the first piece of trouble the update created .(sortof).

I've looked at lots of posts re this and tried all the suggestions but just cannot get the magic 'apps' category to appear in my sidebar in itunes???
One suggestion was that the apps if clicked on would have an 'update ' button but all i can do is delete them

I'm going to assume that you use only one Apple ID so the two things that I can think of are to quite all processes and restart all devices and then try to sync those apps again. Quit iTunes, restart your computer and the iPad and then try to sync the apps again.
The other thing would be to try to reset your iTunes account by signing in and out of the account on the iPad. Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and then sign in to your account and try again.

My I touch gets very hot when charging, and it won't turn on. I've tried all the resets/fixes and it does not respond. Any Ideas?

Hey Halefarm, What happens if you connect directly with the charging source with your cable, no docking station? Since resetting did not help, try connecting directly with the cable to your power source and your iPod. Next try a different cable, there could be a short in the one you are currently using. If still will not charge correctly, I'm leaning in the direction of a failing battery. Set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated by Apple. Have your iPod evaluated for possible battery issues. Take the cable and dock and have them tested as well. If it is a failing battery, you choices are; replace the battery, either through Apple or third party shop. Replace it yourself, if you can. Or, you look into getting a new iPod. I don't have the cost of a new battery for an iPod 3, but I'm sure it's under $100. Check with Apple for exact pricing. Good luck, Cheers.

Firefox will not save my tabs or prompt asking if I want to save tabs. When it reopens it doesn't even bring up my home pages which have been properly saved. I have tried all the suggested fixes - the problem persists even in safe mode.

If only three songs on the album are throwing that message at you, that suggests that the tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.

TS1559 I've tried all the so called solutions countless times still no wifi

Please help, I've tried all of the soloutions posted. I've restored network setting so many times now i've lost count originally it did work for a time then it would go off again. Now it doesn't do anything. I've even restored my phone to factory settings and restored using itunes more than once, still no joy...I'm now losing all patience. Any other ideas.

If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

IPhone apps not opening - have tried all the usual fixes

A few days ago I got my iPhone unlocked from my provider (Telstra) as I am about to travel and wanted to put a country specific sim in it. Since then no non-Apple apps have worked.
I have tried (many times) to :-
1. restore from a previous backup (plus multiple syncs) and using different backups
2. delete an app and reinstall it
3. download a new free app (and when that didn't work I deleted it and retried installing it)
4. sign in and out of the app store on the iphone
5. sign in and out of the app store on my iMac
6. de-authorise and re-authorise my iMac
7. wipe the iPhone clean and start with a fresh install
8. And reset the device too many times.
Nothing I have found on any site has worked. I thought the wipe the phone clean would have done it but it hasn't.I have wasted about 20 hours trying to get this thing working again.
If I wasn't going on vacation tomorrow I would be at my provider getting them to fix their mess but I can't.
Can anyone help? Please?

Further - the AppleId I am using is the one I first started with years ago - where all my music and app purchases have been made. Signing out of this AppleId and then signing in using my "me.com" address and downloading an app under this address allows the new app (and only the new app) to work. And it continues to work when I sign out and sign back in with the original AppleId.
This is really annoying as I have heaps of paid apps that aren't working.

first step would be reboot

then I would troubleshoot by taking it to another wifi network to see if it had problems in general with wifi
then if it did not then I would try to update the firmware of my wifi router for better compatability

Port is open and router recognizes the Apple TV. I noticed on the web that certain Apple TV's had problems and Apple was replacing the units. I am going to take the unit to the Apple Store and have the it checked to see if it is one of the units that don't work with the latest version of itunes.

I have a 3rd Generation ipod touch that is not recognized by itunes or my computer. My itunes works with other apple devices I own. I cannot reset the ipod touch and can never get to the screen where it is supposed to show a red battery to turn it off. I can't reset it. From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes. Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue. To update or not to update? And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista. My workflow dictates 32b fyi. One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126), 5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day. My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12) Windows mounts it just fine. itunes is not having it. no shirt no shoes no service.
I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano. The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad! Weird huh? I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
I'm at a loss on the thinkpad. Scanned for intruders. Cut the Lenovo bloat. Executed system and reg maintenance. Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail. NO NO NO. Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad. Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update. :|
So in summary for me:
5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^ last working version for me = 11.0.1
5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0 but no way in the world am I updating
4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?

French characters fail to display properly (have tried all the regular fixes)

I am updating a website with french characters and they are not displaying correctly. This website has been live for a long time and had no problems, but while updating some wording/punctuation on the development (before rolling it into live), I am seeing that my characters are failing. We recently bought CF Builder 2 and I believe this to be the problem, as I had something similar happen like this - but with an email blast - a while ago (I ended up having another worker develop the code on his PC with a different program).
I have googled this and have ensured the following settings are correct:
window-->preferences-->workspace--->text-file encoding: UTF-8
project-->properties-->general-->text-file encoding: UTF-8
I've also tried putting
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8" >
at the top of my pages and they still display incorrect characters when french accents are used.
Any ideas?

"No Content" problem still happening, tried all the little fixes. Any updates 3 years later?

The last post was archived and ended in 2010. Now, in 2012, I am still having this problem.
There have been several little fixes that people have come up with, but unfortunately, none of them work for me! These may include zonealarm, language settings, playing iPod through iTunes, and others.
I'm assuming there was never a fix released. Is anyone else STILL suffering along with me?
I have an iPod touch, first generation. Without music, this device's PRIMARY purpose is dead...gr!

Errors:
Apple Mobile Device Service stopped working and was closed
followed by
This iPhone cannot be used because the AMDS is not started
YES - I have started and set to automatic all apple related apps in "Computer Management"
YES - I have uninstalled then reinstalled anything that was made by Apple.inc - several times
The iphone will sync with another laptop running vista.

Any better luck with the new version of itunes (9.1.1.11) just released today, doha? (It includes an update to AMDS and the Apple Mobile Device Service, so fingers crossed that might address your issue.)
