Sounds like you have a firmware password set.
As you can't do that accidentally, you surely must know the password (which is different from your admin password)?

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update.

Hello this is happening to us also (minus the Bluetooth speaker). We can't figure out what is causing the data usage. I turned off mobile data as soon s I activated the device, and got the message that unless I am connected to WiFi.....(that is exactly what I wanted). We watched Netflix for about three hours, then the alerts started. Like you we have many devices connected and never used over 2GB now all of a sudden we have used it in a matter of hours. My husband called Verizon and got the usual doubting Thomas response. I understand that they don't know my device settings. So over the phone we check all the settings and turned off every possible culprit eating up the data and end the call. By now I have purchased another gig for the month! Assured we are NOT using mobile data, we continue on the IE path to bliss. HA! A few hours later I check the mobile data usage on the Verizon website and that darn thing is still using data. After two more phone calls and two VERY uneventful trips to the local store we were told to take out the sim card. This has stopped the data usage, but it defeats the purpose of having the data plan. I could have just stuck with my Surface. Verizon sent us a new sim card. Its been installed and I have set my homepage to Verizon mobile data usage (just kidding) but I am on that site a lot. I am surprised at the number of complaints about this device. When we called the Verizon support acted as though this was the first time they had heard about this. I get the same problem running the diagnostics. Says network connections are present and in the green, but unable to connect to iTunes Store.

I downloaded the Microsoft Autoruns package and ran it. There are no programs in the LSA Providers tab, and Apple's Bonjour is the only program in the Winsock Providers tab. I also did the "netsh winsock reset" and rebooted. It didn't fix the problem. Any more ideas?

What is your connection via speedtest.net ?
Check istumbler or netstumbler to verify network interference
Make sure DNS is set correctly (settings - general - network - configure DNS - automatic)

They are used for the rare promotion or upgrade offers.
The only time I've ever seen a use for them is when you purchase a computer with a previous version of the Mac OS when a newer version is already available.
You can submit one of the coupons with the upgrade form to obtain the new version at a reduced price.
That's about the only benefit I've ever seen for them.
Apple calls this program something like "Mac OS Up To Date" (something along those lines).
To illustrate, say you purchased an iMac right after OS 10.4 came out, and discovered that the iMac was packaged-up prior to OS 10.4 being available (like it sat on a shelf for a while). So, you've got OS 10.3 installed on it.
Now, you purchased a new computer, obviously you want the latest OS to go with it.
So, because you purchased a new machine with an old OS, you can use the OS Up To Date program to order upgrade disks to OS 10.4 for only $20 or $30 instead of the $129 everyone else pays.
It's not really a fair deal for a person who just purchased a new computer. But, it's better than getting stuck with paying $129.
So, you would fill out the upgrade form, and submit your coupon with it.
The same thing applies to if you purchased the system after the new version of iLife was available. You might be able to get the new version of iLife at a reduced price.
Apple usually runs this program for about 90 days after a new software version is available.
They used to work it the other way:
When I purchased my PowerMac G3 266-DT, they had a program that allowed you to upgrade to the new version of the Mac OS for $19 or $29 (can't remember for sure the $ amount) if it was released within 90 days of you purchasing your computer.
I took advantage of that, and got a reduced-price upgrade to OS 8.5 from OS 8.1.
That method makes more sense to me than the current method.
It makes sense to get a reduced price on updates that arrive up to 90-days from your date of purchase.
But, it is not such a good deal to have to pay for updates that were already available at the time of purchase and should have been included with your new computer. After-all, it's not your fault that the computer sat on the shelf too long.
But, that's how it works now. The coupons basically get you a discount on software updates that were shipping on new systems when you purchased your new computer that had been boxed-up before the new software was released.
As for cheaper .Mac prices, the only options I know of are:
1) You get a $30 discount on it when you purchase a new Mac. So, when you setup the Mac, you are usually presented with an option to sign-up for .Mac with a discount.
2) Amazon sometimes runs a special on it.
3) You might be able to get a .Mac retail box from someone who purchased it and then changed their mind. But, don't buy a box that has been registered already.
Be very careful buying products like .Mac second-hand. There is no way to know that they have not already used the registration code until after you receive it and try to register it yourself.

You probably installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Deploying to Iraq this week and I can't get the ipod working!

My best beloved got me a new (to me) ipod to take with when deployed. I've been trying to get some music loaded to it to take with me but I can't get ITunes OR my computer to recognize that the ipod even exists. I've searched this site top to bottom and tried every solution I've come across. Deleted HKeys. The 5R's. Reboots. Everything short of throwing my bloody computer out the window. Can ANYONE help? I tried even every article listed back on 9/12 when a similar question was asked. So short of buying a new new ipod is there anything to be done?

If you are having issues with My Photo Stream, then take a look at the article below to ensure that everything is setup properly. Remember that the My Photo Stream only hold photos for 30 days and up to 1000 photos in that section. If everything is working smoothly now and you want some older photos, then I suggest that you create a Shared Photo Stream to get the photos that you want on your iPhone.
