Hi barryfromwarrington,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  There are two things I can think of to keep your Stepdad's information separate from yours on the computer and the iPad.   On the computer, he should have his own administrative account, and on the iPad he needs his own Apple ID for iTunes and iCloud services.  Here is some basic information to get started.  I don't know if you have a Mac or Windows computer, so I'll include info for both.)
OS X Yosemite: Set up users on your Mac
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18891
OS X Yosemite: Set up users on your Mac
If your Mac has multiple users, you should set up an account for each person so he or she can personalize settings and options without affecting other users.
Add a user
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
Click the lock icon  to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password.
Click Add  below the list of users.
Click the New Account pop-up menu, then choose a type of user.
administrator: An administrator can add and manage other users, install apps, and change settings.
Enter a full name for the new user. An account name is generated automatically. To use a different account name, enter it now—you can’t change it later.
Enter a password for the user, then enter it again to verify. Using a password hint is recommended to help the user remember his or her password.
Click Create User.
For an administrator, select “Allow user to administer this computer.”

I have an old ipod (it's the very thin oblong one in purple, the one before the one that does video) and want to know how to get everything off it and into my iTunes library.  My old computer died and the original library was lost, so don't have any of the content saved anywhere else.  I now have an iPhone 5S and listen to music on that, so want to be able to listen to things from the old ipod too.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks very much

Apple normally does not get involved in handling lost objects like this.  Since a real name is not installed it will be much more difficult.
You can try contacting Apple support at the US number, assume you are US going to BWI from the listing: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and explain the situation and see if they offer any suggestions.

  • I am currently running v 6, which I believe is a beta version. I want to know how to get to v. 5 (not a beta versioon)

I just want to know what I have to do to get off of the beta version and get to the current non beta version.

Firefox 6.0 was released on 08-16, it is not a beta version.

  • I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion and found out it was not compatible with my HP printer (HP photosmart C5580) so I called Apple and asked how to get Mountain Lion off and Snow Leopard back on.  The Tech told me to

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • We have one computer and two apple id's- how do I sync two phones to the same computer?

My family has one laptop computer but we have two different iPhones and itunes accounts.  I want to be able to plug my iPhone into the computer and sync pictures and music with my account.  My husband has his own iTunes account and he needs to be able to sync his phone to this laptop as well.  Is there a way that we can both sync to the same computer?  I need to move some pictures off the phone so that I can update it.

The best way to handle it is to create separate user accounts on the computer for each user. Then make sure that you and your husband log into the computer with the appropriate account. Each of you will have a unique iTunes library, contacts, etc.

  • Home Sharing - Can you share between two accounts on the same computer?

I haven't been able to find any info about this, but does home sharing allow you to share files between to different user accounts on the same computer? I have been struggling with trying to do this for years, and I'm really hoping this solves my problem.

This is true in a sense; you have to use the same itunes account to activate home sharing. BUT, you don't need to use the same itunes account for general use.
    Example:
My computer and iPhone has one itunes account.
My wife's computer and iPhone have a totally separate account.
I turned on Home Sharing on both machines using one account name and ID - mine.
Now she can see and copy my music and apps, etc. I can see and copy her music, apps, etc.
However, when she goes to the iTunes store, she still can buy and so forth *on her own account*. Same with her iPhone. And I can still do the same as well on my own account on my machine and phone.
The only limitation seems to be updating apps: If you copy apps over to another machine using Home Sharing and install them on another phone running another account, it works great. But you can't seem to update those copied apps, unless you log in on the phone or the computer it syncs up to with the account it came from.
Aside from that, the apps still work even when the computer it was copied to and the phone it was synced to are active on ANOTHER account.
The key is the setup - for Home Sharing. That needs to be one account, but otherwise it's business as usual.

  • Synchronizing multiple user accounts on the same computer

We bought a .mac family pack. Synchronizing 3 computers works great. But we cannot synchronize our 5 family member's multiple user accounts on the brand new iMac G5. Can it be true that synchronizing does not work between different user accounts on the same computer? To be able to do this was the prime motivator to buy a .mac family pack. Please someone tell us that we are doing something wrong!?
    Cheers, Leo
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   iMacG5 and G3

    Leo,
I seem to be having better luck with what I think you are trying to do. Let me describe my situation.
I have accounts for my wife and I and each of our children on each of our several Macs.
For my wife's accounts (on each of the Macs) and my account (on each of the Macs) I enabled syncing via the preference pane. I did not sync the mail accounts (she has different e-mail accounts) but we did sync the addresses, bookmarks and such. We did not sync the calendars since we each "subscribe" to each others calendar.
On each machine and across the machines our "sync'd" information appears properly synchronized.
Now, here is one difference, I do NOT have a family pack. I only have my single .Mac account and I use that one account as the .Mac account for my wife and I. Now that I think about it, that would seem to be the big difference.
Might I suggest that you go into your wife's account and change her .Mac information to be YOUR information and see if it synchorizes.
    Regards,
    Tom

  • Syncing to the same computer (complicated)

I have an IPod touch 5th gen and I need to sync the music/photos/whatever to my account on my laptop. The complicated part is that it's the same computer, and I'm worried that most of my library won't be able to sync because most (literally way more than half) have the little grey exclamation point next to it ( I deleted the original files to save space; smart move) and I don't know what to do. Even without the original files being lost, I'd still worry about whether I could just sync like that to the same computer. I'm working on redownloading all of the files, which is time consuming but if that helps not having the original files lost. Please help

  • How many times can you download a free trial, on the same computer?

about how many times are you allowed to download the same free trial software on the same computer?

You can install a trial once on the same computer. After the trial period ends, you'll need a serial number (in other words, a purchased product) to continue using it on the same computer.

  • Can you have two different itunes account on the same computer

how can you have 2 different itunes accounts on the same computer?

You would need two seperate users on the computer. Then each library would be independent of each other. Or do you mean two seperate iTunes store accounts?

A email account that was used is now not in use and songs that were purchased and added are bound to this old account from the same computer how do I the purchaser of these songs reclaim the authorization to play and use in my new account. even though account name may have been changed.

Just authorize the computer and retreive them.

FYI: you should have simply updated the AppleID with new info and continued to use it instead of creating a new one.

  • My Adobe Reader toolbar that allows you to save, print, email, etc. the document in the browser window/tab has disappeared and I want to know how to get it back.

I was unable to view PDF files in Firefox and would get a blank screen telling me I needed to re-install Adobe. I did that and was still unable to view PDF files in the browser window or tab.
Now that I have upgraded to the most current version of Firefox I no longer have the Adobe Reader toolbar that used to be a toolbar above a PDF file when viewing in the browser window or tab. I don't have the printer icon, floppy disc icon, email icon, page arrows to scroll up or down, the percentage for size, etc. Is there a way to be able to have this toolbar again?

I do not use Adobe Reader, but use Foxit Reader in its place, and had the same problem. In Foxit Reader, I right-clicked in the area at the top where you would expect the toolbar to be (it was a blank area immediately above the displayed PDF file), and chose which toolbars to display and that has "stuck" and I still see the Foxit toolbars when I load a PDF file after system shutdown overnight. The only problem is that the area where you would expect the toolbars is still there and blank, but the toolbars that I selected appear immediately below that blank area. See if that works in Adobe Reader for you.

No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.
But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.
That would depend on what you are trying to do.
