I want a horizontal scrolling series of thumbnails that act as a menu and goes to webpages within my site when clicked

I'm sure it's pretty simple and probably already in the widgets somewhere .....  I just want 4 thumbnails in view at any time with < and > on either side .. when clicked they'll go to a page within my site

You can use the Lightbox widget with a thumbnail strip or any other "image carousel"/ "image slider"/ "filmstrip" widget you may find...

  • I want my horizontal scroll bar!

It is unbelievably tedious to have to open the custom zoom widget in order to accomplish something as simple as a horizontal scroll in a document -- particularly since the custom zoom widget cannot be moved over to the side where the bookmarks pane is. Instead, I have to open it, move the window, close it to actually see, lather, rinse, repeat.
Come on, please give us a horizontal scroll bar!

    Hi Ric,
Very interesting. I don't need a horizontal scroll bar *all* the time, but when I'm zoomed in closer than the width of the page -- well, I sure as heck need it then. :-) I would guess that most people would like the horizontal scroll bar to appear/disappear based on whether it's relevant. That would be OK with me.
The reason I use Adobe Digital Editions is to read case studies for business school -- that is to say, for reference and citation purposes. That's why multiple docs is important. And a lot of these cases, it turns out, have mixed portrait/landscape orientation. Most of the case will be in portrait, but some exhibits will be landscape -- that's when I most need the horizontal scrolling, for landscape-oriented stuff.

  • Horizontal scrolling with a table that is 100% width of window/container

    Hello,
I'm a bit perplexed - it seems to me that the only way that I can have both fixed and scrollable columns in a table, with a table that resizes to the width of the user's screen, is to have percentage widths for all the entries.
    Warning imminent rant
This seems to me to almost defeat the purpose. I want to be able to show more columns if the user has a large screen, and less if they have a small screen, keep certain key fields always showing and have the space avaliable for each column fixed to the size of the column contents. Having percentages of the screen for all columns just means that the column will get wider and thinner, not more or less!
Is there any hope that this might come along with client side scrolling in NetWeaver EhP2? Or does anyone have a cunning solution to the problem?
Now, I can sort of understand why this functionality has been build like this (the ABAP not having any real idea of how wide the screen actually is) - but why deliever such a solution at all? I can almost understand a fixed width situation, although all that code for a minimal improvement over just specifying the number of scrollable columns is suprising - but I struggle to see the use case for setting all the columns in a table to display as percentage widths.
    Rant over -
If anyone does have any ideas how to have a 100% width table with fixed width columns - please do let me know.
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Can this work:
Emebed your table UI element in Transparent Container UI element ( give it a fixed width ), now make table width as 100 % and make each column width as Width of Transparent Container / No of Columns.
Although I'm suggesting this but in my opinion giving fixed width to any UI element height width property is not advisable and recommended. It is because when browser will be resized by the user then if there is a fixed width settings then scrollbars would appear and layout may also go haywire.
If on the other hand if we are giving % (relative of window ) in width height of UI elements then layout will be adjusted automatically.

    Hi,
I want a horizontal scroll bar added to my table

the cells do not resize hence there is a gap after

Please reduce the container size in the screen thru SE51 that automatically create the scroll

  • Horizontally centering flash .swf" and disallowing horizontal scroll??

Is it possible to center a flash .swf file on a website, and then disable horizontal scrolling?
I made my website in Flash Catalyst, and I made the width 1700px and the height 1200px. I made the width large because I wanted it to look good in the largest screen resolutions, but my biggest problem now that I've finished making the website is putting it up. Simply embedding it makes it scroll horizontally all the way to 1700px, which isn't good for those with small browsers.
Originally, I was planning on making the flash file the background in CSS (using body {background: url(FILE.swf) no-repeat #000 top center}) but then I found out you can't put .swf's as backgrounds.
Basically, I want to know if it's possible to center the .swf horizontally, and then disallow horizontal scrolling. I want to keep vertical scrolling,
    Any help appreciated!

Is it possible to center a flash .swf file on a website, and then disable horizontal scrolling?
Yes, but it introduces other problems. With scrolling disabled, you might not be able to see all the page. I DO NOT recommend what you are trying to do. Flash scaling would most likely give you better results.
Background images if intended to cover a large area are typically very small images which are repeated to create a pattern. Using one large image will still never cover all the possible screen resolutions or page sizes... for example larger than 1700 or taller than 1200 pixels.
Centering requires a set dimension, like 1700 so auto set margins would center it, but it still may not cover 100% as using a width of 100% would.
That being said, turn off horizontal scroll and leave vert on with:
    overflow-y: auto !important;
    overflow-x: hidden !important
then you'll need to use z-indexing to lay anything else over the top of you background .swf
Here a sample page that should get you going... dimensions are smaller so you can see how it works... the principle is the same.

  • Start a horizontal scroll in the middle of a table?

    Hello,
My demanding users are at it again. Although I am learning alot but lest I digress;-) Lets say I have a tableview with 72 columns that is one month for each year spanning over 6 years. No biggie but instead of the horizontal scroll starting at the left most point I would like start the scroll in the middle (say at column 36 or something) of the tableview. So if my tableview starts at 03/2002 in column 1 and goes to 03/2008 in column 72 I want the horizontal scroll to start at 03/2005(current month)in column 36 each time the table is rendered. I am using MVC and the tableview iterator(which I love).
I was hopeing that I could find something similar to a dropdown i.e. pre-populate a selected value and the dropdown starts at that selection not the top most one. Any one have any ideas where I could begin? I have searched this forum for 'horizontal' and 'scrolling' but no hits.
    TIA,
    Rich

    Hello!
I gave the example from Thomas Ritter to the JS person here and he got it working. I can't take credit but I wanted to share it with the forum. Basically what happens is that the horizontal scroll will scroll to the right till the date column that is close to the current date. I say close to because some of the columns are in months so if the current date is 21-MAR-05 then the horizontal scroll will scroll right until MAR-05. Either way here is the code. As I said before I take no credit for it. I do have another question though. Anyone have any ideas how to change it so that I can pass it a date and have it scroll there instead of the current date?

  • Custom Horizontal Scroll Bar position on File Open

    Fellow Forum Members,
I have a lot of PDF files that I want to open in a special way. I want them to open at 150% ZOOM and this was easy enough to setup in the PREFERENCES window.
However, what is proving to be a big problem is changing how the horizontal scroll bar has a default position all the way to the left. My objective is to have the horizontal scroll bar positioned all the way to the right and at a 150% everytime I open a PDF file.
The Preferences window doesn't seem to have a horizontal scroll bar position on open setting. Can anyone help me out and tell me how such a custom setting is possible with Acrobat 9 Extended? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Broad Question - Horizontal Scrolling Slideshow with Still Images

    Hi everyone,
I have to make a horizontal scrolling slideshow using many images of different filetypes, sizes and DPI in Premiere Pro CS5.5.  I have tried a few different methods but each has its own problems:
    1. Arrange still images horizontally in the timeline, adjacent to eachother, and apply a custom Push video transition between each one.  This is a consistent method that doesnt require much work but it's tough to control the amount of whitespace between the images, especially when the images are all different proportions.
    2. Arrange still images both horizontally and vertically in the timeline, so that there is no white space between the images (the images overlap across multiple video lanes).  Then, set up motion fx for the position of the image for each clip.  This is tedious and I have to make every clip the same size and make sure the distance each clip travels (in the motion fx) is the same. So for instance, I have to set the starting key to 1200 on the x-axis, and the ending key to -300, for every single image (tedious when there are many).  Another problem with this is that it becomes very difficult to change the duration of the motion fx once ive set it up for many.
    3. To have an easier time composing the arrangement of images, I just make a single giant image by laying out dozens of photos in InDesign, then export a very wide jpeg.  The great thing about this is it's fast, easy, and the composition is exactly how i want it.  The bad thing is that premiere doesn't handle many megapixel images well, and furthermore the image quality is horrific compared to the quality of importing individual images.
The biggest problem with all of these is the image quality (extremely poor compared to viewing the source images on their own) and the animation smoothness (all three methods produce very jittery and erratic videos).  The biggest question I have is: should I even be doing a slideshow in Premiere?  Can someone recommend a better application I should be using for something like this?  Do i have to learn Flash?  I am not trying to make an interactive thing, just a video/animation where I hit play and dozens of images scroll horizontally, at the same speed, with a lot of control over the scaling of the images and their horizontal and vertical arrangement (the amount of whitespace between them).
Thanks for everyone's time and help!

Don't know if it is still being sold, but Grass Valley's Imaginate was the perfect application for your intended purpose. There are many others as well, but PR is not the program of choice for this.

  • How to get the Horizontal Scroll Bar for a Table?

    Hi All,
As per my requirement, I am displaying several records in a Screen in a Tabular Format. But here I have to show 21 Columns in that table which is too high. I am able to display it but due to it I am getting a Horizontal scroll bar for the whole screen since all the columns are not getting displayed in the normal window screen space. But its looking too odd since once I am scrolling it to right the columns are getting displayed but the above Header Bar and Global buttons are not displaying, they are bound to the normal screen space.
Is there a way to have a Horizontal scroll bar only for that table instead of the entire screen so that on scrolling that bar only the table rows will beshifted ant got displayed?
    With Thanks
    Kumar Gautam

    try this approach.
include a raw text item before and table item.
include the appropriate HTML tags in raw text item to enable horizontal scroll

The horizontal scroll bar takes the full width of the window and doesn't allow to scroll left or right.
Occurs only in FF4, page displays fine in FF3.x, IE, Chrome.

I have removed FF4 and reinstalled FF3.6.16 and the search bar works fine - like it always did.
    Shame I cannot use FF4.
Would you please let me know when a solution to this problem can be found? BTW I do have Copernic Desktop Search installed. When I installed FF4 I did get a message that the Copernic add-in was not compatible. Could this be a problem?
