I want a new graphics card to increase my dedicated video memory. Can I do it on my desktop?

It is an HP TouchSmart 310-1110me with Windows 8. I want to increase my dedicated memory. Can I do it without a new Graphics Card or I need to use a new one? In the latter case, can I use a new one?

Hi,
The video processor for the TouchSmart 310-1110me is soldered to the motherboard so is not possible to replace it.  Review these specifications under Integrated Video.

  • How do I increase HP Envy Dedicated Video memory?

Hello, I 've been trying to increase my dedicated video memory in BiOS but I can't seem to figure out how to do it or if it's even possible. Any Ideas will be greatly appreciated, It's currently set to 128mb and thats pretty much useless for most games now adays. I read somewhere that games will run better if you increase it.  When I do scans on my computer that check compatibility for games, dedicated video is always the only issue. Product name: HP ENVY 15 x360 PCProduct number: G6T84UA#ABAVideo Card: Intel HD Graphics 4400Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Hi, Simply say: you can't. System will automatically allocate/assign available system RAM to graphics up to max supported. By the way, that machine is not a games machine. If you wish to play games on laptop, please set aside around $2,000. Regards.

  • No video configuration in bios to increase dedicated video memory

Hi guys! I have lenovo g410 running in windows 7 with bois version 3.05, how can I increase the dedicated video memory? I tried to do it in bios but there is no configuration there that will change it. please help. thanks!

    hi ivangabayan,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
This setting (Memory Remapping)  is set to Automatic.
changing it is not available like on most laptop,
Increasing the RAM can help on increasing the shared amount for the Integrated Graphics.
    Best Regards

  • I have a 2.4GHz DP Power Mac G5(ppc) and want to know if buying a new graphics card

I need an editing computer and don't have the money to buy a new $1500 or so system. I have a 2.4GHz DP Power Mac G5 (ppc) and want to know if it would be worth buying a new graphics card and more RAM. I'm looking at around a $300 or so upgrade. I am saving for a new computer but need a computer to edit videos for a job I have NOW. I am currently editing on a intel core duo laptop with 6 G of RAM, the computer is taking a real beating and would also like to know if the upgrade would make the G5 run faster than the laptop I am using now.

    Hello,
It won't make the G5 run much faster, but we need more info please.

  • Want to purchase a new graphics card

I would like to purchase a new graphics card for my G5 to work with Aperture. Not sure which cards will work with my machine.

Curious... Aperture is for photos, still images
right? That is not graphics intense on a machine so
spending outrageous $$ on a high end ATI card would
be crazy. nVidia and ATI have nice AGP 8X cards for
under $200... personally, I would look for the best
vram (GDDR3 is the latest, greatest and fastest) and
go no less than 256Mbs... higher means more $$. You
unfortunately cannot go for PCI-Express, that's
    faster than AGP. Good Luck...
Generally, still image work is not very taxing on a video card. With Aperture, it's a different story. Aperture relies heavily on CoreImage which offloads much of the processing onto the video card. So, in this case, a high end ATi card does make sense. If the OP were asking about Adobe's Photoshop or Lightroom, I would agree that the less expensive cards would be a better choice.

  • 1,1 Mac Pro, want new graphics card

I'm looking for a new graphics card. My computer currently has the following:
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
    Type: GPU
    Bus: PCIe
    Slot: Slot-1
    PCIe Lane Width: x16
    VRAM (Total): 0 MB
    Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
    Device ID: 0x0393
    Revision ID: 0x00a1
    ROM Revision: 3008
I'm looking to get something on the quality of at least a Geforce 8600 or Radeon HD 2600, but I'm not sure if my computer is compatible with those models? Can someone confirm/deny this and propose a good graphics card choice for my model?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Apple Store ATI 5770 - ONLY card being sold. $249 and works in 10.6.5 in all Mac Pro models.
I was very surprised to read the above, because both the HD 5770 and HD 5870 cards are available from Apple's UK Store.
So I have just checked Apple's USA Store website, and both cards are currently available from there too:

Based on the specs for your HP Pavilion p6-2160eo Desktop Computer, this model has 1 PCI Express x16 (Gen2.0), 3 PCI Express x1 (Gen2.0) and, 1 PCI Express Mini Card x1slots. This model also has a 300 watt power supply which will limit your choice of retail graphics unless it is replaced with a more powerfull unit.

  • Can I put a new graphics card and power supply in my computer.

Hey all, I have the P7-1459 comp and it is good, but i was hoping to maybe give it a gaming boost. But i havent been able to find out if it could handle what i want to do. The new Graphics card would require a 450W power supply and i dont know if this comp could handle it. Anyone know one way or another? Need some help.
    This question was solved.

    Joshua, you are very welcome!
I am sorry that I misunderstood your question.  I thought that you wanted to know if the computer would handle the card.
Yes, you can upgrade the power supply unit (PSU).  I suggest measuring the existing PSU and comparing those measurements to the one that you choose.  I like OCZ and Corsair.  They will provide enthusiast quality with a reasonable price.  A good video card requires clean, stable power.  I recommend at least 500W; 550W to 600W would be even better.  This would allow for some future upgrades.  The computer only uses the amount of power needed to run the components.
    I hope this helps.

I have no idea where this is inside the mac and need help getting my new graphics card to work. i know this card works on a mac so how to i do this. please, please someone help. thank you

If you click on the "manuals" from the small strip above, then click on Desktop -> Mac Pro ->

There is a pdf. You should also have a small booklet that came with the Pro, and I am surprised the card doesn't come from Apple with a guide and photos.

  • Installing new graphics card in hp p7-1155

I have a new EVGA GEFORCE GT730 2GB GDDR5 graphics card and am ready to install it in the above box.
Haggiscat suggested this board thru a previous post on this site. I have printed out the install directions from the hp help so I have the mechanics of how to install this thing. Those directions say to disable the on-board graphics card first, then go into the box and install the new card. My question is: Do I need to do anything else first such as downloading the driver first/delete the old driver first.etc? Also, I have a disc that came with the new card. Do I use that to get the drivers or go to the invidia website? I want this install to go as smoothly as possible so expert help would be appreciated.
I'm not sure how to direct you to the previous post but it's in this section. Take a look for some background.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I suggest that your carefully read the instructions published by EVGA.   I have multiple EVGA graphics cards and none of the directions ever suggested to uninstall the old video drivers prior to installing the new graphics card.  Use the drinver disk that comes with the graphics card after your boot up. The default Windows drivers will work and then you can install the EVGA supplied drivers.  EVGA also has a web site that you can obtain later drivers that have been tested by EVGA for your graphics card.
The modern HP motherboards will automatically switch to the discrete graphics card if detected and if it is compatible with the BIOS and motherboard.
The NVIDIA 7xx series graphic cards have been problematic with HP motherboards using a version 7 BIOS.  some may work and some may not work.
The reality is that there is no a guarantee that any particular graphics card will work in any particular PC even if the graphics card works in other PCs or even the same or similar model PCs. Know what the return policy is before you buy.

  • Need guidance on new graphics card connectivity.

    Hey,
I want to upgrade my current graphics card "ATI Radeon 4800 Series" to a newer more capable graphics card mainly for gaming. (Black Ops is coming out tomorrow and I feel it's time for an update)
My current PC specification is as follows:
    Harddrive: 500GB
    RAM: 4GB
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.80GHz
    Motherboard: GF 7050V-M7
    PSU: 650W
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 4800 Series
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 3
I need your help to find me a new graphics card that it is compatible with my motherboard/other components at around £130!
    Thanks for your time!
    Hatton

You need to re-read what I said... I said if he wanted to build a new computer based on a new motherboard, I did NOT say this would be a pop-in replacement for his existing motherboard
There are several ASUS models, I picked the P6T SE since it had the right balance of features and price
I have 6x2Gig ram sticks for 12Gig... if I was building today, now that prices are lower, I would start with 3x4Gig to leave room for adding 12Gig later
I use the onboard sound and it works fine for my needs
As well as an nVidia GTX285 (today, I would buy a GTX470) I have a Pinnacle Dv500 digitizing card, which I use via dual-boot with WinXP

  • Help purchasing / installing a new graphics card

I am looking to buy a new graphics card as mine isnt good. I was told by a friend to get a nvidia gtx 660 (im not good with computer parts and installing stuff) I wanted to be sure that it would be compatable with my computer. My graphics card is a AMD Radeon HD 7560 HD , And my procceser is AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon HD Graphics.

You need to check a few things...
      1. Do you have an open PCI-e x16 slot on your motherboard?
      2. Does your PC have a Power Supply with 24+ amps on the 12V rail and has a free 6-pin Auxiliary power connector?
If 1. is not true, you are stuck with the integrated graphics.
If 2. is not true and 1 is true, you will need to replace your power supply as well.
Let's see if we can simplify this...
What is the Make/Model of your PC (if it's a pre-built Dell, HP, etc.) or, if it's custom, provide a component list.
Check the power supply for a model number. If you can find it, provide it.

    Hi-
Its crazy and i didn't know that you could get so meny different cards for Macs ?
Because of the lack of Mac cards, enterprising individuals have figured out how to make PC cards into Mac cards.
Ofcause some is hacked to work with Mac..
The ROM has been replaced with an equivalent Mac ROM. The cards are, for all practical purposes, Mac cards.
Would they be safe to use ??
    Properly done, Yes.
Plz check it out and let me know if its safe to get cards like this.. Thx again
