ty for help

It depends on what machine you have, and what RAM you already have installed. You likely have two DIMMs (chips) installed in your machine, and you likely only have two slots for memory, so you would likely need to replace the DIMMs in your machine with DIMMs that have more memory, e.g., if you have 2 GB of RAM, and you want 4 GB of RAM, you'll need to remove your 2 GB and replace it with 2 more 2 GB DIMMs for a total of 4 GB.

  • Want to upgrade RAM on 2011 Macbook pro 13 2.3GHz i5 4GB

    Hello all,
First of all let me thanks you guys for the support you have been giving here.
I am new to the forum and this is my first post, I recently bought the new 2011 Macbook pro 13inch 2.3GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5 with the 4GB RAM (4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2x2GB)
I want to upgrade from 4 GB to 8GB. I have researched this issue and found three suitable options, i need help deciding on which to buy. Any good brand or compatibility issues
I really appreciate your help guys. The links

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I'd worry a little bit about Newegg's "Limited warranty."
OWC is fully warranted — no iffy "limited" on it.
You can use OWC's rebate form to turn in your current RAM and get $26 refunded if you buy the upgrade from them.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/support/rebates/memory.cfm
This would bring the price down to $86.99, but no free shipping, and, presumably, it would cost you shipping to send the modules to them in order to collect the rebate, too.
I'd want to know the details of that "Limited" warranty if buying from Newegg.

  • Want to Upgrade RAM, Please Help!!!

HI, I have HP Pavilion DV3-2332TX laptop, recently i upgraded it with Windows 10 Home,  having 3(2+1)GB RAM 1066MHz, i want to upgrade my RAM, by additional 4GB in pleace of !GB RAM, please tell that do i have to install the new 4GB RAM of same 1066Mhz or can i upgrade it with 1333MHz or more. will it then work like 6(4+2)GB.

Hi, You are running 32 bit Windows 10, adding more RAM to 6GB is wasting money because 32bit Operating system can only access to 4GB of RAM (max). You can swap 1GB with 2GB, that's all, to make 4GB and your system can use around 3.7GB. You have to use same specs with existing RAM, higher speed won't work properly or won't work at all. Regards.

    Had a couple of questions:
Is it a matter of adding or replacing?
    Is there a max?

    Hi:
I have attached the link to your service manual. Page 1-2 states you are already at the max with 2 GB.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf
If you know someone who may have a 2 GB PC2 5300 chip, you can remove one of your 1 GB chips and see if it works, and reports 3 GB. If it reports 3 GB, then it would report 4 more than likely.
The chipset supports up to 4 GB of memory, but the BIOS may not allow it, and there are no BIOS release notes that add support for 4 GB of memory, so it would have to be an experiment on your part.
Installing memory is relatively easy. read Chapter 5 of the service manual for how to do it. Specifically chapter 5, starting on Page 5-12. Remember to remove the battery and A/C power before taking anything apart.

  • Want to Upgrade RAM...

    Hello All,
I was interested in increasing the amount of RAM in my PowerBook G4 (1.5 GHz). Currently, the only RAM that's installed is the original 512 MB card. I was thinking about buying a 1 GB stick off of Crucial and putting it in the remaining empty slot. Do you think this will make a noticeable difference? I notice my Pbook gets sluggish at times, especially with a few different apps open. I would buy 2 of the 1 GB sticks and just upgrade it to capacity, but its really not in my budget right now.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Since you are running Tiger on only 512mB of RAM, it is safe to say you will notice the difference when adding the extra gig stick immediately. Tiger is a RAM hog.
As louie mentions, the ratio of pageins/pageouts is telling. Most subscribe to the notion that a 50/50 ratio really needs more RAM, 90/10 or 80/20 is desirable.

    Hey,
I want to upgrade RAM and SSD on my macbook pro, identifier 5,3, and I want to make sure the parts I picked will be compatible with my Macbook.
I'm specifically not sure about its support of 512GB.
    I thought about RAM:

    Thanks!

" I have also created a back up on Time Machine (I think I did)."
    Check this out:
    http://macintoshhowto.com/repair/back-up-computer.html
Once you think you've done it correctly restart and hold down the option key or go to "System Preferences" under the Apple and look at "Startup Disk".
That will tell which Disks are bootable.
    Now about that Crucial drive:
    http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Crucial-SSDs/512GB-M4-and-2009-Macbook-Pro/td-p/7805 6
It's not clear to me that this issue was resolved. The last post goes nowhere!
    I always use OWC:

Just did two including this MacBook Pro early 2011 13" and a 2012 Mini. Total no-brainer! The way I like it.

    Please help.

    Hi,
Your machine currently has 4Gb of RAM:
        http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03325481
It supports 8Gb max. CPU-Z (SPD tab) should show you RAM information including brand. You can work out what do you need using that information. My suggestion: use information on the SPD tab INCLUDING brand.
    Regards.

  • X61 upgrading RAM for Win7

Greetings,  pretty straight forward question - on X61 notebook
I want to upgrade RAM from 2 GB to 4GB, my CPU is core 2 due T7300  @ 2GHz
My question is; can my system take advantage of 4GB of RAM or just 3GB max, I know I can put 4GB in but will it be taken advantage by my system, I know some processors cant use more than 3GBs?
I want to upgrade the RAM to run Windows7 64-bit, as I currently have Vista 32bit -Do you think it will make a difference from 32 to 64?
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi,
I have some good news for you. I have an X61and have put the Kingston 4Gb ram module in it, with the existing 2gb module, and under 7 ultimate x64 it recognizes all 6 Gb.
Can't tell you the part number off hand, as it's inside the machine I am using.
It's the generic Kingston 4Gb module, not a thinkpad specific one.

  • I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lighroom 5 if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?  What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible?  Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense?  I have an Epson R2000 printer.  Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion?  It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.

Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
    Adobe lists these requirements:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine.

  • I want to upgrade my MacBook pro ram

I want to upgrade my MacBook pro 17'' ram. I have 2X2 GB 1066 MHz and I want to go to 2X4GB but I can't find any with 1066 MHz I found only 1333 MHz. Will it work on my MacBook pro late 2009 unibody 3,06 Ghz Core 2 Duo

do not use anything other than the exact specs.
It MAY work with the 1333MHz (the 1333 will be downclocked) but you will have problems VERY probably.
You have to replace the 2X2 with 2X4.
Buy the best there is: Crucial, OWC: the price is very low. And yes the right spec is for sale everywhere.
Find a respectable internet seller in your area, and buy it: but research the Crucial and/or OWC sites for the exact specification, they have configurators where you put in your computer model.
Replacing is easy, you have to have the right screwdriver, there are 3 screws that are longer, remember where they are.
