I want an english instal!!

I just intstalled iTunes on my Windows XP computer, that runs on swedish. I choosed english in the installation of iTunes 5, just as I always do, but this time only the installation was in english! I don't want to have my iTunes in swedish because I've been using it in english up to date, and I use all my other apps in english. I realy didn't want to install Windows in swedish either. Is there som way to choose english as a language?

To be honest, in Windows XP the first part of the 'Regional and Language Options'>'Regional Options' tab presents you with a Language option. Illogically I admit the number/currency/time/date settings are linked to this language setting - instead of them being linked to the Location setting in the lower half of the same tab.
So I suggest the following straight forward workaround (and more correct setup of WinXP?):
1. Close down iTunes totally (in the System Tray as well).
2. In 'Regional and Language Options'>'Regional Options' tab set the correct language you want to be recognised as default by programs.
3. Press the 'Customise' button to the right of this language selection and set the correct number, currency, time and date settings for the country you are in.
4. Restart iTunes and it should load the correct set of language files.
What do you think of this method? It has work well for me - it seems to stop the confusion in the Shopping Cart as you can just change to the appropriate country.

  • I want to re-install OS 10.2 but can't find the disks

I have an old iMac G4 that I want to re-install the OS but don't have the disks.  Any idea of where I can find a copy of OS 10.2?  I tried installing an 10.4 but the machine won't accept that version of OS X.

Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.
If they no longer stock the very old Panther OS, try eBay but make sure they are retail disks, not some machine-specific update.

    Help..

If the iBook G4 build model you have is among the last of their production,
    (mid-2005) those shipped with a machine series-specific restore/install
DVD and an early retail version of Tiger 10.4 probably won't work.
    The 'mid-2005' iBook G4 12/14" 1.33/1.42GHz
computers included Tiger, one of these:
    Mac OS X 10.4.2 (8D37)
    Mac OS X 10.4.4 (8G32)
A last-version retail install DVD Tiger 10.4.6 could work, but it would
not include the other software as-shipped with the iBook when new.
If your computer is a late-2004, it shipped with Panther 10.3.x
and any Tiger retail install DVD (not for a specific model) can
work so long as the computer build supports the OS X version.
And, an even older iBook (G3) may have shipped with a boot OS
X version on CD media, and not even have a Combo optical drive.
The first iBook G4 should have at least a Combo (dvd reader) drive.
    • How to find the serial number of your Apple hardware product:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1349
You can check the iBook serial number against an online search
to find its build-date; then use that info to learn more about it.
    • Decode a Mac's serial number:
    http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com/Desktop/index.php
    • Identify your Mac - serial number model lookup:
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
    • Klantenservice: Serienummers
    http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
With the serial number information, if the computer is not
super old, it may still be possible to get a replacement set
of install discs from *Apple Sales 1-800-MY-APPLE* and if
they still can get you a duplicate or replacement set, there
would be a fee; you may get lucky, if it isn't too old a Mac.
A 'replacement set' would constitute an 'original' vintage set.

Make sure your computer is running smoothly on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8
    Create a Backup Before Upgrading...
Then check your Mac is compatible with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.x
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion

  • Macbook Pro with SSD (optibay) and HDD. Want to clean install with discs and move hard drives.

    Hi all,
I have bought a used Macbook Pro 15' i5 Mid 2010 in brilliant condition. It came with original HDD in main Hard drive space and and SSD in an optibay. This all works fine and came with Mavericks already installed.
I want to start using the laptop like from new as there is nothing on there i currently need atm and dont want problems in the future with my apple id not being the original installer of mavericks. (had a similar problem previously on a used macbook white that had lion on)
What i want to do is erase and move the SSD to the main hard drive bay (have read this is preferred) and a clean install using install discs that came with it onto the SSD. Then install the HDD into the optibay or external enclosure and reinstall optical drive, not sure on that one yet.
My main questions are about the process i should use. There is nothing i need to back up or anything as this is effectively a new machine to me. Shall i simply erase the SSD (currently contains the OS) and install it in main hard drive bay and run install discs to install original OS (10.6.3)? Is it that simple?  Any tips on erasing SSD would be useful also?
Also as the machine currently boots from the SSD that is in the optibay, is there anything that tells the machine to boot from that hard drive as apposed to the main HDD bay or does it just know? If there is, when i install the SSD into main hard drive bay how do i tell the machine i have done so and to boot from there?
The other thing i may do is buy a new SSD and do a new install on that and leave the current SSD in the optibay and use that for storage. Undecided on that yet.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
    Sam

To do what you want, and the only way to do what you want legally and physically, you will need a set of Original System Reinstall DVD Discs. Without them you can't do what you want as the install of Mavericks that is now on it is TIED to the previous owners Apple ID and can not be transferred and or Reinstalled without knowing that persons Apple ID. And even iof you knew it it would still be TIED to that Apple ID and not yours.
So did the previous owner supply the Original System Reinstall DVD disc Set? If not you will need to order them from Apple.

  • I want to re-install an older version of Flash Player but...

I hope this is the right place to ask this question...
I have a new dual processor pentium laptop and I upgraded to Flash V10.1 a couple of days ago. One web site I access regularly has now slowed right down and the video is unwatchable. My CPU meter runs at over 70% so I simply wanted to uninstall V10.1 and re-install V9. For whatever reason (I don't know if it is laptop, Win7 or Adobe), I am prevented from loading the older version. An Adobe window pops up and says that this (V9) is not the latest version, stops the install and points me back to the Adobe site to download the latest version. I have followed all of the guides to ensure proper uninstallation of V10.1. All very frustrating!
    Can anyone help - please?
    Thanks
    Ian

OK, here I am replying to myself but perhaps others may gain from this solution. Remember, this original post was "how to stop Adobe preventing me from installing an older version and forcing me to take the latest version...". I just wanted to re-install an older version to prevent big CPU usage and stuttering video. Well, this is what fixed it for me an allowed me to install Adobe Flash V9...
Assuming you have properly uninstalled Adobe Flash Player v10.n, you need to remove a folder and files from your registry. If you are unhappy to do this, then ask an expert - the registry is not somewhere you want to get lost in. I am also assuming you have the correct system permissions, Anway this is what I did:
    1. Go to start button and find (and run) REGEDIT.EXE
    2. Rather than give you a specific path to follow, it is best to simply use REGEDIT to find the folder by clicking "Edit" then "Find".
    3. You are looking for a folder called "SafeVersions".
    4. When you find it, it may show a number of safe versions (previous loads of the player).
    5. From the left window pane, right click on the aforementioned folder then click "Delete"
    6. Respond to any prompts you might get, like, "do you want to do this..." etc.
    7. Close down all applications in the normal manner and reboot.
    8. When restarted, go back on line and download the V9 (or whatever version you want). You'll know its a good 'un as it loads in a fraction of the time.
    9. Go back to your web page or whatever and, hey presto, everything is back to what it was before that hungry V10.n was uploaded.
Hope that helps, it might be nice if the Adobe uninstaller deleted this registry entry, but it doesn't - or at least in Win7 on my PC, it didn't.
Let me know it the above works for you.
    Thanks and good luck

Hi since I installed ITunes 9.0.1, everyday the Apple software update runs and wants me to install an IPhone Utility. I don't have an IPhone and don't want that software on my computer. I click quit each day, is there a way to tell the Apple Software update I don't have an IPhone?

    Same here.
With software update: clicking install, accepting agreement and we back to the install button.
With download version : the install button does nothing.
When i try to move itunes program out of my application map i get an error -60008.
I'm gonna reboot now and see if this solve the problem.

    HI ..
The only way to reinstall OS X on a Mac already running v10.9 is to use OS X Recovery.
Starrtup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk and reinstall OS X.
