I WANT COLLAGE SCREEN SAVER IN IPHOTO AS A SLIDESHOW OPTION!

i love the new Collage screen saver in Leopard. Is it possible to use that (or Mosaic) as an optional slideshow in iPhoto?
if not, it needs to be!

I suggest opening iPhoto and reverting back to iPhoto in the Preferences for photo editing. Quit iPhoto. Restart your Mac for good measure. Open iPhoto and again choose Photoshop Elements in Preferences as the editing app.
As far as editing, I don't have PE, but I have another editing app form the Mac App Store, ColorStrokes. I have been experimenting with using it for editing iPhoto photos and it works flawlessly. After setting ColorStroke as the editing app, I open a photo in iPhoto and click the Edit button in the menu bar below the photo. Color Stoke immediately opens with the photo and I complete my editing. When I have finished editing I choose to Save the photo, leave the name the same and agree to replace the iPhoto photo of the same name. I quit ColorStroke and the photo in iPhoto now has all of my edits from ColorStroke.
Should I decide that I prefer the original photo, I open the photo in iPhoto and choose Revert to Original in the Photos pulldown menu.

  • Making Collage Screen Saver

Is there any easy way to make the collage screen saver effect found in the screen savers on a mac? I just need four or five pictures for each sequence.
Are there any applications such as iphoto that I could make it with and then import it into FCP? Or do I need to make it in motion? If yes, any easy ways?

    No:
I mean the screen saver where photos drop and pile up on one another

You cannot take a folder out of the Trash to your Desktop without erasing the one on the Desktop. You need to first change the name of the folder on the Desktop. Or you can open the folder that's in the Trash and drag the files onto the Desktop assuming there aren't too many of them.
But if you have a duplicate on the Desktop why do you need to remove the one that's in the Trash?
If you feel you must take the folder out of the Trash, then you need to rename the duplicate that's on your Desktop.
If you wish to put the folder back where it was when you deleted it, then open the Trash window, select the folder, then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select "Put Back" from the context menu.

  • IPhoto Metadata and the Collage Screen Saver

I'm loving the new screen savers that came with Leopard, and I like the collage screensaver. I have good information that I entered in the iPhoto "info" box for photo names and dates. However, when I turn on the "Annotated" option in Desktop & Screen Saver preferences, it only displays the original File name and date (some stupid names instead like "P1764670" instead of "Camping at Inks Lake"...and sometimes the original date on a photo was wrong, so I correct them)...Is there a way to make the Collage screensaver look at the data I've painstakingly entered into iPhoto? At the very least, is there a way to migrate the data from iPhoto to rename the files and dates of certain photos? Does iPhoto '08 offer a solution that iPhoto 6 does not?
    Thanks
    iPhoto 6.0.6

The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos.  However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled.  What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

  • Is there a way to create a multiple event screen saver from iPhoto events?

Is there a way to create a multiple event screen saver from photos in iphoto?  I can create a single event screen saver, but don't know if it is possible to create a screen saver with more than one event.

Drag the events you want into an album and have the screen saver run from the album.

  • Random screen saver and iPhoto

I use the random screen saver function but would really prefer that it not use images from iPhoto. I have hunted through the screen saver panel and through iPhoto prefs looking for a way to stop the screen saver function from using iPhoto data, but can't find such an option. I've taken to "hiding" iPhoto data by renaming its data folders and/or moving them to alternate locations, but each time I use iPhoto, everything gets "refound" and applied back to the screen saver library.
Is there a reasonable way to stop the (random) screen saver from insisting that it must use iPhoto data?

not on my mac right now, but i am pretty sure you can choose "folder" within the iphoto screen saver settings - and choose which folder you want to use.

  • Screen Saver (using iphoto folder) - 2 questions

New imac....thanks for the input. Two questions with the screen saver that uses random iphoto folder pics.
    1. The resolution on some pics looks horrible (I thinked they must be zoomed in), but even on ones that are not, the pics look more grainy then when I see them in iphoto at roughly same size. Any suggestions?
    2. Wife liked the ability to scroll through the screen saver pics in Windows XP but hitting right arrow button. THis would not disengage screen saver and should could see all the pics. Anyway to do this on Mac...she would LOVE to know!
    Thanks!

HI Dan and Welcome to Apple Discussions and congrats on the new iMac!
For starters... here is information for slideshows/screen savers available to use with a .mac account:
Using a .Mac slideshow as a screen saver
You can use a .Mac member's public slideshow as your screen saver.
To set up a .Mac screen saver, you need the .Mac member name of the person publishing the pictures. You do not need to be a .Mac member to see a slideshow or use it as a screen saver.
Open a web browser and visit a website to make sure you're connected to the Internet.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Desktop & Screen Saver.
Click Screen Saver, then select .Mac in the Screen Savers list.
Click Options, and enter the .Mac member name in the .Mac Membership Name field.
The slideshow is downloaded to your computer. When it's finished, you can disconnect from the Internet.
To publish your own slideshow, you need a .Mac membership. To learn more, visit www.mac.com
And rule of thumb using your own photos as a screen saver: If the pictures look fuzzy, try using larger pictures (such as 1024 x 768 pixels).

  • Is it possible to set screen saver to iphoto library on another computer?

I have all my photos on an iMac; I have a mac mini connected to my flat screen tv which we use to watch movies (netflix, amazon video, itunes, etc).  I would like to set my mac mini screen saver to the iPhoto library located on my iMac.  Is this possible?

Do I need to have iPhoto installed on both computers?  On the mac mini, when I select the screen saver source choicelist I only get the pre-installed options and a "choose folder".  I can navigate my iMac from this option however, the iPhoto library icon is greyed out...
What am I doing wrong?  I do have iPhoto shared on my iMac from the iPhoto sharing preferences.

  • I want a screen saver on when locked?

i would like to use my phone screen when locked as a clock - can this be done?

    No.

  • Screen Saver - can't use any iPhoto images

I know that there have been reports of the mosaic screen saver with iPhoto not working, but I can't get any type of photo screen saver working with iPhoto. If I click on an iPhoto event, album or just iPhoto, I get the spinning ball for about 30 minutes before System Preferences crashes.
Has anyone else seen this? I am using the latest version of iPhoto. All the photos in my iPhoto library are actually stored in an Aperture library.

My guess is that ILMediaBrowser is referring to the iLife Media Browser. You might run Software Update and see if you somehow missed an update to it. However, if it worked with a new iPhoto Library I think the iLife Media Browser is probably OK, but there is something funky in the innards of your original iPhoto Library that is crashing the Media Browser.
You could try holding the Command and Option keys down, then launch iPhoto from the Applications folder. Keep holding the keys until it asks you if you want to rebuild. There are list of items to be checked, click on the ones that sound likely to help matters.

  • Can I create an album of select photos to stream was screen saver when listening to my iTunes library on my apple tv

I have a new apple tv that I am listening to my iTunes library. I have approx 800 photos in my iPhoto library. The screen saver chooses the same small number of photos and keeps on playing them over and over again. Can I expand the number of photos that are displayed? Can I create an album of photos to display?

The screen saver uses the photo stream so if you can create a new stream and place the images you want the screen saver to show and then select that stream it shoudl do want you want.

  • Aperture No Longer Working With Screen Saver?

For years I've been using my Aperture library (specifically, the "Flagged Photos") with the Screen Saver in OS X.  Since I upgraded to Lion last night, I have discovered that my Aperture library no longer shows up as an option in Screen Saver -- only iPhoto does.
As I am remiss to ditch years of work and return to iPhoto -- I was hoping someone might have discovered a solution for this problem (perhaps something to do with the iLife browser in Lion?).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Then, I checked the new sharing preferences and closed out Aperture.  I opened up the System Preferences for Screen Saver, and after waiting about 1-2 minutes, Aperture popped up in there as an option.
Can you please explain what you mean about "checked the new sharing preferences?" I see no way of setting any "sharing" preferences in Preferences or anywhere else in Aperture. Do you mean you just looked at the sharing preferences?
Since I've upgraded to the latest version, when I go to the System Preferences, Aperture is very slow in showing up on the ScreenSaver settings under System Preferences and the virtual Library folders no longer show up (they show up under the Desktop window though). However, after closing Aperture, the screensaver would display "looking for pictures" and would not display the photos.
The latest upgrade definitely broke something, although it greatly improved Aperture's response time, as it was getting pretty sluggish before the upgrade.

  • System Preferences - screen saver... bug or feature?

    10.6.8 MBP
I have a folder which contain several sub folders - the contents of one sub-folder I use as screen saver.
In the System Preference pane for desktop /screen saver I can see the standard options of:
    iPhoto
    Flagged
    Last 12 Months
I don't use iPhoto & the library is empty & I've trashed the associated iPhoto.plist's - therefore when I click the "Flagged" & " Last 12 Months" of course as expected I see the message ' Your selected submissions have no pictures. You can change…. etc"
However if I select the iPhoto box - then the screensaver displays the contents of all the sub-level folders. When it should display the same 'Your subscriptions…' message.
    Why?

    FIXED IT!!!
Ok - so in case anybody else suffers this problem it turned out the iPhoto Library was referencing a folder of files on a (non existant) other computer. This explains why:
    1. It always happened when I went into Wallpaper prefs (was looking for these non existent photos)
    2. It didn't appear in Disk Utility (because it was within the iPhoto Library package itself (i.e. the database)
    3. It happened on a new computer as the iPhoto library was restored from a previous computer.
In order to find this, I troubleshooted by moving the iPhoto Library to desktop (without opening it) and wall/screensaver prefs worked fine. Then, I used terminal and the grep command (screenshot attached) to find where it was referencing "kitch_n_stage" (I.e. the windows share). Then I moved those files to the trash, but the iPhoto library back and opened iPhoto. It had to rebuild the database as I removed the photos folder and the library.adpb file.
The command was grep -lr "name of shared computer" *
(Would suggest backing up your iphoto library before doing this)

  • Black Screen Saver & Fan Noises

My computer just yesterday started making loud fan noises. I've done some research on the computer and it seems to be quite a common problem with iMac, however, I have been unable to find solutions. It started after I watched a DVD on my computer and had to change the sleep and screen saver settings (or at least that's the trend I noticed). After the movie was over I shut down my computer and when I restarted it the next day, boom, loud fan. I was wondering if it had anything to do with the screen saver settings because that's all I could think of. Before, I had the black blank screen saver and now I can't find it on my computer. I don't want a screen saver with pictures, just the blank one--what it did before going to sleep. I've restored the energy saving settings.
Any ideas? I thought the DVD issues was related perhaps.
The fan (or what ever it is) noise is driving me crazy! As soon as the computer goes to sleep, the fan noise stops.

Yeah, I think that is this one...

Boot off your Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some models have a separate AHT CD.
Also, under the Apple icon at top left>About this Mac>More info...>Hardware>Serial-ATA, does it say "S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified"?

  • Can't select photos for Screen Saver in Preferences?

I have this problem on two Mac's running OS 10.4.11. I can't change/select the screen saver from the Preferences window. When I select Choose Folder and navigate to my iPhoto '08 Libraries, they are all grayed out. The screen saver that runs is the last Side Show I run in iPhoto. So I can only change the Screen saver from iPhoto by selecting a different iPhoto Library and running a slide show with those pictures. Then the newly selected library (albums, etc.) shows up in the Screen Saver selection window below the gray line. Am I doing something wrong? Is there perhaps some preference file that needs to be deleted to reset things?

    Hello,
It might just be a corrupted preference file, try this: Locate this file: com.apple.iphoto.plist
It's here: /Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. It's ok to trash a pref file, your Macs will create new ones for you.
Also, if that doesn't do the trick, try moving the photos you'd like to use into your Pictures folder, not using your iPhoto libraries. That way when you "Choose Folder" .. select your Pictures folder in the Sidebar in your Finder window and see if those photos are available.
