I want IOS 7 until Apple figures out wifi in IOS 8
Why can't I revert to IOS 7 until Apple figures out how to make wifi work in IOS 8? All of my devices have created wifi nightmares, both at home and at work, since IOS 8. At home, the router started freaking out the moment IOS 8 was installed. At work, wifi is useless since IOS 8. Apple has had numerous software revs to get this ironed out, and it continues to be a failure. I want to be able to roll back, why should this be prohibited?
Side note: I find it hilarious that I can't submit to this forum from an IOS device using Safari, I had to use my windows laptop. Awesome.
No, I haven't contacted apple support, you got me there.
Since it occurred on both my iPad and iPhone when I updated to ios 8 (at roughly the same time), I think any reasonable person could assume that it's not faulty hardware.
My problem is that by the time I figured out it was IOS causing all my headaches and not my network hardware, Apple decided to stop signing IOS 7, so I couldn't revert.

yes, 10.3.1, iTunes already restarted, menu settings already like that and still it will play all unchecked songs (including the checked songs of course). Why even have check and unchecked if the program is going to play all of them anyway?!

Why can't Apple figure out Keynote to QuickTime???
User problems with QuickTime exporting from Keynote are legion (just look at these discussion forums). Why can't Apple (makers of both Keynote and QuickTime) master this task?
I want a QuickTime video of a self-running presentation. I have audio narration on each slide via .WAV files. My animation timings are set perfectly to match the narration. My transitions are set to advance at the appropriate time in the narration. When I view the show, everything works PERFECTLY. Narration is intact, animations are perfectly timed, slides automatically advance at exactly the right time. Now all I need is a video of my presentation in QuickTime. No problem, I'll use Keynote's handy Export to QuickTime tool.
Then things get ugly. I export to QuickTime and it all falls apart. The timing is off. Long pauses between my slide transitions. Bah. All I want is a QuickTime version of exactly what I see when I play the slideshow - but that's not what I get. Incredibly frustrating. I was hoping they'd fix this in Keynote '09. Alas, not so.
Step it up, Apple. Please!This is truly unbelievable. I have used apple equipment since the Apple II. Quicktime and keynote are key apple software. Why can't apple figure this out. I am a college professor recording audio with keynote presentations. Keynote operates very well. Never a problem. Why can't I export to quicktime without trouble? Why do we need to work around this? The quicktime export produces a video track and a movie track, but no audio track. You can check this in the properties after export. It doesn't matter what export settings I choose. Always a movie without an audio track. I am a simple college professor trying to get lecture movies on the course management system. If the audio is recorded on keynote, which it is, why can't quicktime pick it up and add it to the movie? This problem has been around for years through several versions of quicktime and keynote. Is this an Apple culture where the keynote people don't talk to the quicktime people? Either keynote should record in a format that quicktime can use or quicktime should be able to read the keynote audio and add it to the movie. How can this be education friendly if a college professor can't export his recorded keynote presentations to quicktime? I don't want a work around that takes me extra time. My time is precious and my students need access very soon after the lecture. This should be at the top of a fix-it list in the apple education group.

When will Apple figure out that USB and microSD are must have items in a tablet?
I have an iPhone and the new iPad and love them both. The only problem is that prior to this I only had Android phones and tablets all of which have microSD and USB ports. Such ports are MUST HAVE options and for the life of me I cannot understand why Apple will not put them into their devices. I for one love my iPad and iPhone but will not purchase any in the future without USB and SD ports.
Again the Camera kit allows you to do what you want swap via SD cards on and off and also USB and cable with one exception and that's the thumb-drive.
Apple does not allow data transfer that way because iOS doesn't have an accessible file manager.
You really need to buy the camera kit.
There are also practical reasons that USB and SD card readers are NOT on board they take space they make the device thicker and heavier and they need their own controllers and power adding further space and weight.
The Lightning/30 pin sockets significantly reduce the weight and energy consumption that USB and an SD cardreader would involve
Again install bump its third party ad-hoc Wifi for file transfer with almost any device including your Android friends or your PC no 3G or Wiifi necessary.
You need to do some configuration and software tests.
I recommend bump, Goodreader and Dropbox in any tablet setup.
All that said I think you may have made your mind up that for you legacy support may have value - Suggest you try a Surface if you can stand that W8 look and feel and limited software options oh and dire battery life. -

Mini users unite! We can figure out the DVI..
Ok, so after my fiasco with Apple yesterday, and calling my other tech friends here in Portland at the other Mac stores here in town, I think we can figure out whats going on.
The first step I think is to rule out the monitors. I've already ruled out cables. Lets call this DATA AND STATISTICS GATHERING. We're not doing the P011 word here. We want to gather data to figure out what we all have in common. If we can get all the models of monitors here, maybe they're all DVI, not DVI-D.

Can someone please just help me figure out how to update this stupid phone(iPhone 4)without losing anything? I somehow have more than one Apple ID on this,but I just want my music and my pictures to stay and I'm terrified of losing these things. I have an apple iphone 4 that I want to download audio books from my library onto. I cannot figure out how to do that. The iphone does not show up on my mac laptop as a connected device. Does this kind of download have to run through itunes? Thanks
Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. A while back I made a gamecenter account that was not associated with an Apple ID, it was with my email, now my gamecenter account IS my Apple ID. I want to delete it and make a new one, but i can't figure out how. Help!
Since you can't delete Apple IDs and having multiple Apple IDs can cause confusion, what you may want to do is rename your existing Apple ID to the new email (desired Apple ID). That would in effect do what you want, get rid of the old and give you the new.

I have a JVC video camera and it records the video to a .mod format (which Apple devices don't support). I figured out how to get them to iPhoto using iMovie but I want to be able to get the videos on my iPad 2 but it won't let it sync. Any help?
Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

I want to change my apple id primary e-mail from a .msn address to a .gmail address. The problem is that currently my .gmail address is my recovery address; I cannot figure out how to remove and replace my gmail recovery address with a new e-mail address. I want to do this because I no longer use my .msn address.
You should be able to change your rescue address by going to My Apple ID, signing in to manage your ID, then selecting the the Password and Security section, and answering the two security questions. If you have trouble with this, contact the Apple account security team for your country to verify your identity and ask for assistance: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security. I have used 9.8 GB of storage. I want to get below 5 GB. But I cannot figure out where the 9.8 comes from. In looking at the menu, I don't use more than 2 GB. How can I find out what the other 7 GB contain

then to my experience that is your imessages. Every picture that you sent and video, is saved again and again in every friendly conversation.
Keep in mind that it takes three backups until size of the backup is going to reflect changes, since icloud holds up to three.

What version are you currrently on (Settings > General > About > Version) ? If you are already on iOS 5+ then you should have a Settings > General > Software Update option on the iPad which will allow your to update directly on the iPad - if you are on iOS 4 then you can only update it by connecting to your computer's iTunes (you can also update via your computer's iTunes even if you already on iOS 5+).
To update via your computer, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases - you may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
You can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button.
