The new Apple Support Communities forces me to choose between one or more of the products I own and any other distinguishing factors. I have just enough room, I discovered, even in the big white edit window, for one.
I don't want to be known just as MacBook Pro or MacBook Air or "Apple User since 1981" or "Camino browser." Those are all parts of my computing experience and identity.
The old ASC permitted this. The new one imposes a Draconian limit. God, I hate being treated as a child. Your experience?

Using the Edit in the righthand column, I was able to list one of mycomputers, my OS, and my little add-on. That's better, but still leaves out things.
Also, I always have to use Advanced Editor. Don't ask me why. Maybe the browser? Just another arbitrary choice made in Cupertino?
Note that with this reply, I'm forced back into one item of identification again.

E3000 Pressed reset button on back. I just want my old router back :(

Hey all. I have an E3000 router that I love. One day after coming back from a vacation, I noticed another computer that wasn't mine connected to my network(I live in an apartment complex). I tried logging into my router but had completely forgotten the login info. Knowing me I push buttons first, ask questions later and hit the reset button on the back. Terrible idea, I had no internet connectivity at all wired or wireless. The only way I could connect was through my modem. After chatting with Cisco tech support and changing a bunch of ips, dns. I was able to connect wireless devices. But something was still missing. My printer would still not connect, and my NAS was unreachable. Here is where you guys might help me. Is there any way to return my E3000 back to its original fresh out of the box state? I was able to connect everything to it and everything played nicely with each other. Please, I just want my old router back!

I'm in the same boat. Updated to ios6 without doing the research first.
Now I have things that won't sync correctly.
Went to the Apple store, they were acting like they didn't know how this could be done.
They make it seem like you can do anything in the world on an iPhone... except get rid of ios6 and go back to 5.1.
There has to be a way this can be done. With what seems like so many people upset about the new upgrade, either Apple is gonna step up to the plate with a solution or the people are gonna find one.

Did bug fix for add-ons after downloading new version. FB games do not work & add-ons still gone. I want the old version back. How can I do this?

Downloaded version 7 today. All add-ons are gone, not disabled, but gone. The bug fix offered in this instance tells me to go look for updates. I have, and I'm totally up to date, so now I don't know what to do. The add-ons are still gone, and my games in FB are also malfunctioning. I click on a button in the game and nothing happens. I can't even play them like this. I have playing all morning, and this only happened AFTER I updated to the latest Firefox browser 7. Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I don't know what your previous version was. If it was before version 4 then finding 3.6 or so maybe hard to find. You might run a search on Google for Firefox 3.6.

When I am using Facebook, all of a sudden with Firefox 4, everything is SO slow. This has happened before. I want the old version back.

It's different, yes. You can move the home (house) button to the other side if you want to, but it sounds like there are other aspects you don't like either. To downgrade to v3.6.16, please follow these instuctions:
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16] and download it to the desktop.
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

I had a big problem that actually ended up being a small problem. Unfortunately to try to fix it I did an archive and install. Now I have come to the realization that my Postfix mail setup, my MySQL setup, my PHP setup, my web pages, my Blog are all gone. Now if I go into the "previous system" folder everything seems to be there. Is there a way to just restore the old system to get all that back without having to reconfigure and redo everything?
I tried to copy the old "Library" back out to the / folder, the problem is that this folder is constantly in use and cannot be replaced.
Any advice?

You said you did an Archive and Install. You did not say whether this was an upgrade or you were re-installing Tiger.
I suggest you read the article linked above, if you have not already done so, and it will give you an idea of what happened. If you chose to preserve User Settings, it should all be there in your new Library. All you need to do it move over your data and you'll be fine. Otherwise you can just move over your entire Users Folder and it will have everything you need.
You said that you want your old system back. I am not sure if you are saying that you want to go to a previous OS, like Panther, or whether you want your computer back the way it was.
a couple of other points, if I may:
1. Re-installation, by whatever method, should always be a avenue of last resort. It is the ultimate invasive therapy and likely result in the situation you are in or worse. Every other avenue should be exhausted before resorting to this rememdy.
2. A good backup strategy is a life saver. During any major procedure, and sometimes without any procedure just of out the blues, your computer can fail and you can lose all your data, your third party apps etc. It is good practice to preferably clone your entire computer to an external Firewire Drive that can also be used as an emergency boot disk.
OK, I gave you much more information that you requested. However, I hope something I said was helpful in terms of recovering your settings and data. Please post back and let me know.

I want my old iTunes back, I am sick of uninstalling and reinstalling this new version. I just need my apps for my new iPhone6

how can I just get my old itunes back. I am not going to continue uninstalling and reinstalling the new version. I had it on my computer, and for some reason it crashed and I started this commotion. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the help of Fix It and advice from many people. Every time I get a new error. Sick to death of it. I only need it to sync my apps to my phone and to use iCloud.
If anyone can get me back to some other version that I can use, I would really appreciate it.

If you really want to roll back to 11.4 uninstall all iTunes/Apple components, restore the pre-upgrade version of the library as described inEmpty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash, then download and install from one of these direct links:

I have been trying to add my MP3 music from my laptop to the iTunes library and it will not allow me to add the songs to the lists. I have tried all options given on the support page as well as any other guidance found on the internet and it will not let me add the songs to my itunes. How can I get the old itunes back?

I've solved the same problem and in order for you to do soo you have to follow these stept if your running windows:
1'st step is to go into the device manager
2 step is to go to portable devices (it is rught under network adapters)
3 step is to right clic apple iphone and click update drivers
4 step is to brows your drivers from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
After that your itunes will pump up alown and youl see your iphone right there.

Home number changed without my knowledge. Want my old number back.

I have been in touch with Verizon's phone representatives ever since moving into my new apartment. Most recently, my home number changed after I cancelled digital voice service and got Verizon to put me back on my old service. The new number that Verizon has me on is not even recognized as a Verizon number! I talked to Britney the other day and was told that she would call me after getting permission to change our number back to what it was before. This current number sems like the temporary number that Joanie gave me during my FIOS installation. When I called Verizon again this morning to check the status of my inquiry I was told that they can't change my number back because it's unauthorized and that the number is not even Verizon's. My home number has been hijacked and I AM HELPLESS. Everyone says one thing and I am stuck with a number I didn't even ask for. Please help me get my old number back. This is not right.

I just upgraded to 4 and I get messages to look at all the new stuff, and/or resart previous session. I just want my old Firefox back. How do I do this?

One of the messages I get says "Now that you've got Firefox 4, learn about all the cool things you can do with your new browser" There are several other little messages that also show up plus the "restart previous session" box. I just want a clean firefox home page to open when I want to use my browser. If I can't get this to stop I'll go back to explorer.

Why does the new itunes sorting feature totally ****? I want the old style back!!!

Everytime I Search in the search box, my computer locks up. I have a well function computer that has all sorts of upgrade to increase speed, but for some reason, seaching locks up in iTunes! additioanlly, I can't ever find the songs I need. I want to type the song, artist, album, hit enter and have it appear. What can be done to change it back.

Wow, thanks! Although, Apple should be smart enough to turn this feature off as the default setting. I'm sure I am one of MANY people who are equally frustrated by this feature.
