Hi ft_wesadaguy,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you see songs in your Recently Added playlist, they should also appear in your iTunes library. First, double-check that you're viewing your music library:
To view the contents of your iTunes library, click the Library pop-up menu near the top-left of the iTunes window, and choose a type of media to view (Music, Movies, and so on).
From:
iTunes 11 for Windows: iTunes library
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12402
Additionally, make sure that the "songs" category is selected at the top of iTunes.
If you've confirmed that songs in your playlist do not appear in your iTunes library, I recommend re-creating the library using the steps in this article:
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists

Hi CheyenneS123,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Due to copyright laws and licensing agreements, you cannot transfer media imported from a CD or other source back to your computer:

Shuffle Recently Added Playlist (or any playlists!)
How can you shuffle recently added playlist music? I know that you can click the normal shuffle songs option, but if you wanted only to shuffle the recently added music or music on certain playlists and not the whole library on the ipod, how do you do it? Can you do it? Thanks in advance!

Recently Added Playlist having problems?
Couple of weeks ago my music in the 'Recently Added' playlist listed each track in the order they were added to the library. Now all the tracks in the playlist are all over the place, despite the fact that it is a smart playlist. How can i solve this problem? Is there an alternative method instead of adding the date added column in the playlist? I would appreciate it if anyone could help me.
Thanks in advance.Click at the top of the Date Added column, and the list will sort by Date Added.
The column where you see a triangle is the one it is currently sorted by. -
Do NOT want Podcasts in "Recently Added" Playlist
Is there anyway possible to make it so Podcasts (voice AND video) are not placed into the "Recently Added" Playlist? I frequent this playlist for new music, but don't want to have to listen to the flip over a podcast everytime.
I had the opposite problem - after creating an iTunes account, podcasts disappeared from the Recently Added playlist. I listen to quite a few and subscribe to many, so having all the new episodes in one place was pretty useful.
By using the suggestion (in reverse) in your solution, the playlist's behavior was restored to its previous (desirable) state.
Thanks! -
Imported music from a CD does add to library, stays in Recently Added playlist
Imported music from a CD does add to library, stays in Recently Added playlist.
Having the same problem. Album imported on CD won´t appear in my music on Itunes! It´s in the Itunes files and in the Recently Added folder, but it won´t appear!
I can play it from the outside file! So frustrating. -
i just bought and downloaded an album. the album/tracks are NOT found in my music library alongside every other track i have purchased! however, they are found and playable in the recently added playlist. in addition, when using the search queue in the upper right corner, the artist and album is listed when searched for, but when clicked on, nothung happens. i have downloaded hundreds of tracks with no issue (not a noob), but have no idea what has occurred...plz help
Have you checked whether the songs are in your iTunes library? If they are, then just drag them to your purchased playlist. If they aren't, try checking for available downloads.
If none of the previous work, then get in contact directly with iTunes store support to tell them about your problem. -
I recently deleted my recently added playlist accidentally I have been trying to retieve it but can't it's not the music I'm
concerened about because it's all in my music library . but I do need my recently added playlist back because that is
where i download music to cd's is there anything I can doIn iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
Check the box "Live Updating"

I wanted to clear my Recently Added playlist and I accidently deleted it.
I wanted to clear my Recently Added playlist that was a premade playlist and I deleted it. Now when I add songs to iTunes, the songs just go straight onto another playlist and I can never find them right away. I was wondering if there was any way I could get the Recently Added playlist added back onto my playlists as a pre-set playlist so that when I add new songs, they go straight to the Recently Added playlist.
The default playlists are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
Check the box "Live Updating" -
I'm trying to recreate the 'Recently Added' playlist that featured in the old ipods (4th gen.?) where it stored the songs you've just added to the ipod and each time you plugged it in it would replace the songs in that list with the new ones you've just added. The 'Smart playlist' at the moment doesn't replace existing songs with new ones except by manual overide. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!Best suggestion: Buy some external USB or Firewire drives. Move your Library to one, back it up to another. A lot more reliable than DVD, a lot less work and much more convenient. For a start, you don't have to break up the library...

I accidentally deleted my recently added playlist, so I made a new one. It works fine and everything, but I was wondering if there was anyway for me to to set it so it only shows music. I don't want my podcasts or videos showing in it. Thanks.
Control-click it, choose Edit Smart Playlist, and set it so that it excludes podcasts as well as items over the size of the largest song multiplied by 1.5.

Recently added playlist problem???
I have 2 questions concerning the 5th generation iPod
1. Why don't I have a recently added playlist as a default playlist in my iPod? The older and newer iPods have it???
2. Is there any way to copy all of the music from my iPod into my iTunes and for thesongs to remain there after I disconnect my iPod?
Thanks!1.) The iPod will mirror any playlists that you have in iTunes, so if you don't have a "Recently Added" playlist on your iPod, then you probably don't have one on iTunes. Go into iTunes and go to File -> New Smart Playlist (on PC)
From there you have a few choices.
-You can make a condition "Date Added is in the last x <unit>" to have a playlist which shows anything added in that specific time frame
OR
-Check limit to x items selected by most recently added. This will show for example, your 20 or 30 or whatever you put newest items on the list.
In either case, make sure you also check Live Updating.
2.) By using only Apple's official method with iTunes, the only items you can transfer from your iPod BACK to your iTunes, are purchased items. When plugging your iPod into a computer which DOESNT have those purchased items, it will ask if you want to send a copy to the computer.
You really can't officially move ALL songs from your iPod to iTunes, unless you use some 3rd-Party Software. -
"Recently added" playlist no longer capturing podcasts
Within the last 10 days, after downloading the newest version of iTunes to my Nano, I found that my "recently added" playlist contained only music tracks. Until the new download, the "recently added" music playlist HAD contained both music and podcasts. Because I do a lot of Nano listening while driving, this was real useful. Before starting the car, I could call up the "recently added" playlist and listen to the freshly added podasts, in order, without having to pick up the Nano and click-click-clisk after listening to each new podcast. What can I do to restore the Nano's old setting that captured podcasts in the "recently added" music playlist? The motoring public and I will thank you.
Problem solved, or rather dissapeared.
Went on my phone and closed music down. When I reopened it everything was correctly sorted.
Go figure. -
"Recently added" playlist on iPod Touch problem
I don't know what happened but suddenly my recently added playlist on iPod Touch stopped sorting my songs as they were added (by date) they are all random now. It's pretty annoying since sometimes i just want to listen the the previously imported songs and it's impossible to find them.
Now, as for the recently added playlist on my iTunes, they appear sorted the way i like them.
Does anyone know how can I tell my iPod to sort my songs this way?
ThanksThis is a known bug with the 3.1.x OS. As a workaround, either go into the playlist definition and un-check "Live Updating", or you can add some criteria that intentionally breaks Live Updating (e.g. add the criteria "Playlist Is Music", where "Music" is the general iTunes folder for music items).
