I want pictures from each device in the cloud, but not on every other device. Possible? "iCloud Backup" alone doesn't seem to work....

My goal is to acheive 3 of the following things.:
Have all my apple devices sync pictures to the icloud *without* syncing the pictures on all the devices...so just one direction from device to cloud and not have all the devices insync from the cloud...... I don't want all the devices in sync, I just want the pictures protected in the cloud. To do this, I've tried to just turn on "icloud bacn-up" and not turn on "photo stream" to acheive this, but doesn't seem to work.
If #1 is possible, then I would like to sync the icloud with a folder on my PC using the icloud app for the PC. Not sure if I can have only the icloud PC sync and not have all the devices in sync?
If #1 and #2 could work, then I would sync the PC folder with my local storge.
end result would be all my photos save in the cloud and a safe copy my home in my local storage. I would have thought that most people would want to do this, but doens't seem so obvious to me as to how I can get it to work?
Any help would be appreicated.
thanks

You can't use iCloud as a safe place to store your photos when they are deleted from your devices.  iCloud designed to stream photos to your devices, and to back up photos currently on your your devices as part of your iCloud backups.  However, photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, giving your devices enough time to download them.  And if you delete a photo stream photo from any of your devices, it is also deleted from iCloud and from all of your devices.  Furthermore, while camera roll photos are included in your backup, if you then delete the photos from your device and continue backing up, the backup containing the deleted photos will be overwritten by one that doesn't, and they will be lost.
If you want to save your photos, import them from the camera roll to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  Then you can delete them from your device.
If you would rather have a cloud-based place to store your photos, look into a service such as Dropbox.

If you have multiple devices backing up to the Cloud, you will see all of them listed. You would click on each device to change what is backed up from that device. You can then delete your individual back-ups.
Once you have all your settings to your liking, you can then go back to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, and click on Back Up Now (bottom of the screen) to create a fresh backup with your new settings.

the Wifi storage options are interesting but it seems they only allow to read files from the device on the iPad but not transfer files to the storage device via WiFi.
I'm looking for a possibility to use the iPad for photography while traveling, without the access to a computer.
Shooting photo's in RAW format crates pretty big files that will fill up the iPad's memory pretty fast if you shoot a lot during a (let's say) month long trip.
my idea was to use load the photo's to the iPad so i could view them and sort out any bad ones. then copy them over to the storage device so i can continue using my CF cards for shooting. I have an image thank for copying the photo's directly to the HDD but it would be so sweet to be able to check them on the iPad before hand.
    any suggestions?

Check out pogo plug device, it allows you to upload camera roll via wifi.

  • Can calendar entries from an iPhone be pushed up to the cloud for iPad and computer updating? My phone only seems to be receiving updates from the cloud, but not able to send them.

Under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, What do you have set for the Default Calendar? Personal?
If you don't have it set to a Cloud Calendar it will only create the entry locally.   You would need to select the iCloud Calendar specifically when creating the Calendar entry to have it sync.
Otherwise set your default calendar to be the iCloud Calendar so all entries are created there by default. And as such get synced to other devices.

  • FaceTime will not ring on my Mac, but will on every other device

For some reason about a week ago, my Mac stopped ringing for FaceTime.  FaceTime will ring on every other apple device in the house, but not my Mac.  I've tried every setting change that seems logical, and nothing works.  I see from the forums that lots of other people have this same problem.  Can someone help?  Thanks.

It isn't that I can't hear it.  It just won't register that a FT call is coming in.
However, one thing I did do and NOW everything seems to be ok, is a)  log off iMessage and FaceTime from all your OS X and iOS devices, and then b) re-log in to them.  It resets something on the server end.
(A friend who had iMessage/Messages syncing issues was told to do this and it helped him.)
This seems to have solved my issue.

The person who holds the copyright to it in the UK hasn’t given Apple permission to sell it there; if desired, click here and fill out the form.

You locate the file in the Finder(it's in the Documents item of the sidebar by default), drag it to the Trash, and empty the Trash.

  • Why is the itunes purchases not available in other devices such as apple tv? It is the same account!

I been purchasing movies and TV shows in the AppleTV. However, I can not view these items in my mac or ipad. I am using the same account for all the devices. why those purchases are not avaialble in the itune account when I use other devices?

The short URL appears to bounce you on to
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/u...447?i=85228289
and obviously this isn't a valid Store URL. I've no way of further checking the short URL. Possibly you don't: I should try making another one.

  • I can't find my Notes on iOS7 nor on the latest icloud backup, which doesn't seem to be the "latest" at all.

Last night I took the plunge into iOS7-and all **** broke loose. Something definitely went wrong with the upload because all my photos didn't appear on my iphone once it had completed the update, although I was able to get that back through my iCloud photostream; my text messages where also eraced all the way back til june. This morning, however, upon clicking the notes app on my iphone, I was shocked to see it empty as well. And the version of my Notes on icloud.com is also empty.
When I plug in my phone and try to restore it from the latest iphone backup, which apparently was sept.20th (thus before i had installed iOS7), it doesn't give me the data that was actually on my phone on sept. 20th (because my photos and notes dissapear all over again). I have spent hours trying to figure this out and am so extremely frustrated with iOS7..

I did that - turning off iCloud and then turning on again, and when I turned it off the two middle buttons reappeared, those for printing or emailing, and also for "trashing".  They stayed even when I turned iCloud back on.  But I still can only see today's notes, the forward and back buttons are still greyed out.
I had tried rebooting before asking the question, and it didn't help.
Going into iTunes, I don't see the app. for notes, nor is it in my iCloud account, which is odd as in my iPad settings I have set notes no sync. as well as bookmarks and reminders, neither of which appear in my iCloud site.
So I still can't find my old note.

  • I want to put my photos from my iPhone to the cloud but I don't want photos from the iCloud downloaded to my phone

I want the photos from my phone to be uploaded to the icloud but I dont want photos to be downloaded to my phone.  Is there a way I can do that?  the photos are taking up too much space and I can't download the new IOS 6.

If by 'Allfiles' you mean 'All My Files' then what you see is correct. The All My Files option under Favorites shows all the files in your user folder. All your documents, music, movies, pictures, everything. Under the View menu you have an 'Arrange By' selection that can arrange all your documents by what kind they are, by what Application owns them, or by name, date, etc.
Since this isn't what you want, unselect 'All My Files' and choose the folder you want to see. BTW, those items under Favorites are user adjustable. You can drag a folder into that blue area under Favorites to add it to the Favorites and you can remove one by holding the Command key and dragging it from favorites into the desktop. You'll see the icon change into a cloud and when you release the mouse it will disappear.

  • The music I bought is on the cloud, but not the music I downloaded from other CD's I own. How do I get those to the cloud to access on other devices?

I have a PC and have downloaded music from CD's that I own.  Have also purcahsed music from iTunes.
The songs I've purchsed thru iTunes show up on my iPad, but the music I downloaded is not there.
How do I get the songs I've downloaded (and are on my iPod and my PC) up to the cloud, so it will also show up on my iPad?

You have to connect and select iPhone in iTunes under DEVICES (Left panel), select Music tab (right top), check Sync Music, and all the music you want on iPhone then tap Sync button (bottom right).

  • I deleted all my pictures from iphoto and emptied the trash but in storage it still says i have photos

I deleted all my photos however when i go into storage it still says i have photos.

iPhoto is an Application to manage and edit images.
The images do not reside in iPhoto - just thumbnail links (think "like web pages show images"). The files themselves, and duplicates and thumbnails actually reside in (but do not delete, move or rename any of these files or you'll "confuse" iPhoto) the User/Pictures/iPhoto Library (which is itself actually a container of 21 items 8 of which are folders)
You should reindex your drive after making massive changes... you may be looking at old (cached) data in the Storage report.
Open the Spotlight system preferences and then drag your hard drive to the Privacy list, then back off again. This action will clear the index and cause the system to rebuild it from scratch. The second approach is to run the following Terminal command, which will likewise erase the Spotlight index:
    sudo mdutil -E /
After the index has been erased, you will see the indexing progress bar appear in the Spotlight menu. Reindexing may take a while to complete (sometimes several hours depending on the type and size of the drive's contents), but after it's done, the system information utility should properly report file sizes.

  • Deleting pictures from camera roll and photo stream but not from other folders

    Hey everyone,
I am new to I phone and using iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1.2.
I like to keep my photo folder organised and sorted. For example I created different folders on my iPhone for wallpapers, my personal pics and work pics.
Now after adding all these pics to their respective folders i deleted them from Camera roll and my photo stream ( thinking that they would still be in their folders) and now I am screwed, because everything is deleted  .
Thankfully, I have the backup, but please can anyone help me to understand the difference between camera roll and my photo stream and how could i keep all my pics in different folders and just not in camera roll or my photo stream.

The way I do that is to organize them on my computer. I periodically import all of the Camera Roll to the computer. That is a good thing to do to insure you have a copy in case of loss of the phone or other problem, even if you backup the phone. Import can be done by methods described in iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Once they are on the computer I organize them in iPhoto on my Mac. If you have a Windows computer you can organize them in folders. Once they are on the computer I delete them all from the Camera Roll on the phone to make it easier next time -- i.e., the Camera Roll always only contains the photos that I haven't yet organized.
I only want some of the pictures that I am keeping to be sent back to the phone, so in Windows I made a second copy of those (in iPhoto on a Mac I use Albums instead). I had a main folder (e.g. "Photos for iPhone") and subfolders (only 1 level below the main folder) with various topics. Then use iTunes to sync the photos back to the phone (selecting the main folder). iTunes: Syncing photos
The end result is that they are organized in Albums on the phone, are not in the Camera Roll, and I have a copy of them on my computer.

  • Manged device at the client, but not shown in ZCM

How is (was) it possible that I have have a ZCM agent that is receiving bundles, shows Managed, and otherwise looking healthy, but is not found anywhere in ZCC?
    maint-zcm.jpg
In the workstation folder, I've done a wildcard search and it's nowhere to be found. I updated the agent with the latest 11.2.4 agent, and now it shows in ZCC. My concern is, how many more "managed" workstations might I have that aren't shown in ZCC?

We've been having this problem for several years now. Devices disappearing, re-appearing, renaming.
We had a couple of issues - images with the agent installed, drives imaged on a PC in the IS office then removed and the drive put into another computer which caused the same serial number to be replicated, etc.
I had put a trigger on one of the tables to capture name changes - some of which are valid, some that are duplicate devices stumping on each other
Then I bounced the names of the PCs in my WSUS server against those in ZEN Works.
When I detected a PC with an issue I would try to fix it with all the recommendations - cc, fsg -d, zizwin /clear, unr. reg -g, etc.
This almost never worked - it kept picking up the GUID in ZEN Works - sometimes it would work IF I deleted the record from ZEN Works AND I could get to the PC to correct it, bit almost always it would never get a new GUID because it would reconcile.
We finally turned off all reconcile settings in registration and viola!
I now see my duplicates showing up and if I do a zac cc, a ziswin /clear and then a zac reg -g I get a new record for that device - I then delete the old one so that when another one of the PCs in that group refreshes itself I get a new record. Then repeat that process on that one in case there is more then a pair of PCs reconciling.
For WIN 7 devices the have the same name I have been using WMIC ComputerSystem where Name="duplicatednamehere" call Rename Name="newname here" to rename the device - this only takes effect after a reboot but eventually everyone has to reboot.
Shouldn't be that hard but it has been a real PITA to get cleaned up spending most of my day monitoring ZEN Works for every new device that shows up and weeding through the messages.
