I want separate itunes accounts when synching

I have set up 3 itunes accounts for my son, daughter and I.. When we go to synch their itouch and iphones we sign in and out under correct account to devices. However, it itunes seems to be sharing the songs, apps etc with all 3 accounts.  How can we synch individually so they are not getting mu apps and music and vise versa??

Hi gene,
It sounds as though you are all using the same iTunes content (songs, movies, TV shows, apps) but you want to let everyone pick and choose what they have on their devices, is that right? You may want to manage your devices' content manually using only selected music, playlists, apps, etc. See this article for how to -

  • Creating a separate Itunes Account when one already exists

    Please help!
My wife and I have sharated a MacBook for the past 4.5 years.  At that time, we have always shared an Itunes account.  Recently, we both have new Iphones and decided to make two different accounts for us.  This has caused many problems.  On my MacBook we have two computer accounts.  We have two seperate Itunes accounts as well.  This is worked out fine... until we recetly bought an IMAC.  Everything that I have purchased on my personal Itunes account has transfered to the IMAC through the home sharing.  Whenever I go to plug in my Iphone or IPAD the IMAC asks me to delete and sink the IMAC stuff instead of doing a transfer.  The apps and songs that are on my IPod and IPad were purchased on my wifes Itunes account.  I want them on my account.  Also, this wont transer to my account when I plug them into the computer.  Is there a way to get this stuff onto my account on the IMac?

You have to creAte 2 separate accounts and to get the music over you have to use an old I pod with lots of memory space then take music into iPod then log into the Luther account and import music!

  • My wife and I both have iPads and two separate iTunes accounts, and do NOT want to share apps

My wife and I share one MacBook. We both each have an iPad and we each have our own indvidual iTunes accounts. That is we have two separate individual iPads and two separate iTunes accounts. I do not want her apps on my iPad, and she does not want my apps on her iPad.
When my wife tries to update her apps on her iPad, it shows my user ID and requests my password. It does not even give her an option to put in her own iTunes account ID and password. This happens even though she is clearly logged in on her iPad under Settings --> Store with her own iTunes account, and have the same setup on my iPad (my own user ID and password for my iTunes account). I do not have this problem on my iPad.
How do we keep our apps separate? This is very annoying!
    Thanks!

There's info here on setting up separate libraries and user accounts. You won't have to reload (or re-import) all the music, just copy it.
The reason I suggest separate accounts on the Mac is because if you have the two libraries under the same user account, iTunes will also open the last library that was open in that account, and you'll always have to be mindful of which library that is. If you open iTunes and find it's not your library, you'll have quit, relaunch holding the option key and select the other library.
No, you won't have to log in and out of the Mac. (If I'm understanding your question here.) Multiple accounts can be logged in at the same time. And with fast user switching, you can toggle between user accounts.
I'll admit that maintaining the two libraries gets a little tricky, because if you share all the same music, you'll have to add it to one and update the other. (That won't happen automatically.) But I think Home Sharing makes this much easier to do.
    Hope that helps!

Hello, thank you for your prompt answer. I did have an idea that Home sharing might be the answer but could not quite figure out how to do it. I have enabled home sharing in my iTunes account, put in username and password, clicked on creat etc. But the homs sharing icon doew not appear in the left side of iTunes. So I got stuck. Any further ideas?

  • My wife and I want to combine our separate iTunes accounts. Possible?

My wife and I have separate iTunes accounts and want to combine them.  We each have personal iPhones, iPads, and Macs which we use for work and a third iPad for our three kids.  As to be expected, we have games and applications loaded on our personal iPads for kids so no one gets left out.  However, invariably, one of us has an application or in app urchase that the other doesn't so at least one of the kids feels 'left out'.  We use an Airport Time Capsule to store all of our itunes media and have authorized each of our devices to play iTunes media, but ultimately, we would like to delete both of our accounts and start over with a fresh 'family' account so everyone has access to the same media and applications.  Is it possible to do so without keeping both of our existing accounts and creating a new account that is authorized to play our existing media?
    Thanks,
    Pete

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.

Thank you for your reply Domingo.  Your suggestion worked as far as sending me a link to buy the book at iTunes.  But it did not allow me to download the book from my wife's account.  I did finally get an answer from Apple.  It took an entire day of emailing back and forth and the final answer was relatively easy once Apple finally decided to give up the solution.  Basically, you have to open ibooks and sign out.  Then you have to sign into ibooks using the book purchaser's Apple ID and password.  Then you can download the book onto your device.  Not too bad, huh?  It only took a whole day of Apple people sending me wrong instructions before they figured it out.  Geez.  What a disappointing experience.

There are 5 of us in this house with IPhones and we all want to control the apple tv with our phones.    We all have separate iTunes accounts.   How do we do this?

I have 3 iPhones in my house and 1 apple tv.
I do NOT set a password on my apple tv, so any iPhone can send video to the tv.
Any iPhone can use the apple remote option also.
Just play a video and click that square with an arrow and play on apple tv. The video comes up from any iPhone in my house.
    Same goes for pics, etc

  • How can I set up my Mac Pro so that my wife and I can use our separate iTunes accounts? I keep getting an error message that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID even though the two accounts are associated with separate log ins!

I'm getting very confused with setting up multiple user accounts on my Mac Pro for my wife and I. We each have a separate iTunes account, and we want to keep our music libraries seaprate. I've set up two user accounts on the Mac Pro and I have my iTunes authorised and logged into my user account on my user account. Under my wifes user account (i.e. a separate log in on the computer) I'm trying to set up her iTunes account, but I can't download or play anything from the cloud - it just says "This computer is already associated with another iTunes Account" and tells me that if I 'transfer' then I won't be able to use the other one for 90 days! This is really annoying as my wife can't access music she has purchased on her iTunes account on the home machine. We're not trying to do anything dodgy, just access our music on our own accounts on separate log ins on the same machine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

  • Two separate itunes accounts on the same computer

Ok I need help before I throw my computer and iphones.
I have two separate itunes accounts, and two separate iphones. I'm using the same computer.
I'm trying to sync my wife's iphone to her itunes account on my laptop, but it keeps wanting to load my apps to her phone.
Now I signed out of my itunes, and signed into her's.
How come itunes is pulling my apps up and wanting to sync them to her phone?
I authorized her phone to my laptop as well.
This doesn't make sense at all.
How can I just start from scratch and just have itunes backup what's on her phone, and thats it?

The issue is this is referring to music, I'm asking about applications.
If I setup a new user on my laptop, when I open itunes, isn't it going to just pull the same data in itunes already?
And if this is the way to fix it, I would need to have a separate user on my laptop for every device that isn't linked to my itunes account? (seems extreme)

  • I have an itunes account.  However, I need to copy music onto a different iPod than my own.  How do I do that?  Do I need to create a separate iTunes account for that iPod?

I have an itunes account.  However, I need to copy music onto a different iPod than my own.  How do I do that?  Do I need to create a separate iTunes account for that iPod?

An account means an iTunes Store account which is an online service.  Do you mean that, or do you mean a library on a computer?
iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.  You can sync that iPod to your account but it will wipe everything currently on it.
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod - http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201253 - detailed example: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18860187#18860187
If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113  and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
I could post another 2 pages of stuff trying to cover every possible scenario.  It would help if you let us know exactly what you want to do.  Are you trying to sync just a few songs (like giving them to a friend which is something iTunes is deliberately set up not to do)?

  • Can I share purchased books from iBooks with separate iTunes accounts?

Can I share purchased books from ibooks with separate iTunes accounts?

While that's an understandable desire, the publishers don't want you buying a book and sharing it with multiple individuals who others would buy it. The inability to "share" a book or pass it on to a friend or relative when you're done is one of the drawbacks of ebooks vs traditional print ... And consider that when you pass on a real book to your wife, presumably you're not reading it at the same time. :-)
Some other ebooks do allow limited (time-constrained) sharing of books - Barnes & Noble, for one, I believe - and they have an app for the iPad that would allow you to read books on it.

  • Making separate iTunes accounts without losing previously bought music

I used my Mom's account to buy songs off of iTunes for the last few years but now my Mom doesn't want me to use her iTunes giftcard to buy my songs anymore. Is there anyway I can create my own separate iTunes account that I can download my own music to WITHOUT losing the previous songs I bought under hers?
    Thanks

Yes, you need to authorize the PC for both accounts. That means signing in and out of the itunes store with both accounts.
itunes menu > Store > Sign Out
Just make sure you are signed into your account when you buy stuff.
If you ever switch PCs, you will need to authorize both accounts again.
