Do you have the "Hide Tab Bar With One Tab" extension? as the author has been trying to fix his extension.

• Firefox used to ask me if I wanted to save tabs, now it just asks if I want to close tabs, just a warning, but no option to save. This is driving me crazy! How can I fix?

This seems to have happened since I installed Firefox 4. I checked all the relevant items that I could under "tabs" folder in "options." There was no option for asking to save tabs.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
Another possibility is to use:

• Trouble setting up keyboard shortcut close tab groups

Have tried at least three different key combos using workspace, keyboard shortcuts.
Have set them up successfully but they don't seem to want to close tab groups.
I have set up other special keyboard shortcuts (like flatten image) which work great

Does it work if you use Insert Menu Item and choose Window>Properties for an action?
Then you could assign a function key for the action.

• When trying to close one tab, i get the message "you are about to close 2 tabs" this is not what I want. I only want to close one tab at a time in English

I only want to close one tab at a time

ONLY 8 people have this problem?
Look, virtually all Mozilla's potential users are coming from Internet Exploder, which gets this ALMOST RIGHT, while FireF*x does it totally wrong. Including in webmail: there's no way I could have got to this forum without leaving 4 windows active or closing everything, including closing my mail without logging out.
ONLY 8 PEOPLE? How many thousand simply throw up their hands & uninstall yr f- nurdware over this one single issue? Not to bore you with details, but I'm hardly unsympathetic to open sources that don't look like the best argument for Micros**t and Google hegemony.
Btw, I said they get it -almost- right... It would be really nice if IE or >somebody< offered a checkbox to NEVER close multiple tabs. Look, if this bug disguised as a feature is useful to a few nurds by all means keep it as an advanced option, but PLEASE set up FireFox so it at least defaults to the real world.

• Please can you send me a fix for the error message that starts up when I open Firefox. It says " well this is embarrassing," and asks if I want to close the tab

Please can someone tell how to fix the problem I have with firefox on a mac OS. When firefox opens it comes up with an error message " well this is embarrassing...." and continues to ask if I want to close or restore the tabs that are open.

• How do I avoid closing out all my tabs by accident? a box used to come up asking "are you sure you want to close all tabs". Now I click on the X and it automatically closes all my open tabs.

Sometimes I, by accident, click on the X and close out ALL of my tabs that were open. A box used to come up asking "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO CLOSE ALL TABS?" Now, it just closes them all and I lose all my tabs that I had open. Is there a way to fix that?

You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle the value with a double left-click.

I can not click 'close tabs' i cannot click 'cancel' and i cannot even see the 'Help' option at the top of the screen. Its just a black screen, the 'close tabs' pop up and the Mac apple on the top bar of the computer that also says firefox but none of the other options are there. (File Edit View History etc. etc...)
Also i can't force the app to quit and the computer says it can't restart or shut down until the app is closed.

• WHERE IS THE CLOSE TAB? I DON'T WANT TO EXIT!

Before, I had a "file" tab at the top left hand corner of my menu bar. Now it is gone and replaced with an orange "Firefox" tab. When I click on the tab I get a "new tab" but I do not get a "close tab". I don't know what the "new tab" is for but I don't really care. What I do care is closing a tab and now that you have eliminated the "File" option how can I close my tab and get to my previous page?????

You can middle click a Tab or right-click a Tab and choose Close Tab or press Ctrl+W to close the current Tab.
You can also use Alt + F to open the File menu to see a Close Tab item.
Some menu entries are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or Alt+B to open the Bookmarks menu and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.

• With multiple tabs open, I use to click File, close tab---now close tab is missing and I exit out of Firefox completely. How do I get that choice back "close tab" in the "File" drop down? Thanks. George C.

The drop down "FILE" in the tool bar use to have a choice to "CLOSE TAB". This is now missing so when I have multiple tabs open and I want to close the most recent, I cannot. I then get warned that I will be closing multiple numbers of tabs, but there is no other choice.
How do I get the "CLOSE TAB" back in the drop down "FILE" in the tool bar

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Why doesn't Firefox close tabs when I use the command-w shortcut keys?

Every so often, on random sites, I would have 2 or three tabs open. I would command-w (on a Mac) to close the front most tab, and it would close. Bringing the next tab to the front. But when I hit command-w again, I get the warning sound on my Mac, and the tab does not want to close. Even though Firefox is at the most front of applications, and the tab I'm trying to close is at the front of Firefox browser window. I have to click on the page (even though it's already at the front), for command-w to work and close the tab. I've reset Firefox to default twice already. I've even deleted it, and reinstalled it.

One situation in which Command+w or Ctrl+w might not work is if the "focus" is in a plugin such as the Flash player used on Youtube after you interact with the player controls. Firefox will continue to send the keyboard input to the plugin until you move the focus back to the page. Does that account for any of the problem?

• I used to have a close tab for exiting the current site I was on instead of closing all of firefox. How do I get it back?

I used to have a close tab for exiting the current site I was on instead of closing all of firefox. It was a red box with an x in it. How do I get it back?

Click in a blank space on a toolbar & open 'customize'. You'll find that there is a gray "x" (on my browser it's gray) that is for closing a tab. Drag it up to wherever you want on the toolbar & it should work fine.

• I lost the close tab under File, how can i get it back

if i don't have the close tab under File, i have to exit totally out of firefox which i don't want to do. How can I get the close button back?

Hi,
Please try pressing '''Alt''' + '''F''' on the keyboard. This brings out the full '''File''' menu. You can also try to close a tab by pressing the middle button of the mouse when the mouse pointer is over a tab, or clicking on the '''x''' on the right edge of a tab.

• Firefox 4 the "close tab" button is missing from the "File" pull down

In Firefox 4 the "close tab" button does not appear in the "File" pull down.
This button does appear in Firefox 3.6.16 but is now gone.
I need it when I have two windows open, each with one tab open and I want to close one window.
The only option presented to me is "Quit" which closes both windows...

I agree with what you said,
"OK. While of nuisance value [why isn't this the default?]"
Why isn't it the default?
Why force users to switch from a mouse to a keyboard (control-w) just to close a tab?

• Move "Close Tab" X back to the left

Is there a way to move the "close tab" X back to the left on the Windows version of Safari? I am used to the OSX version, so having the X on the right side drives me crazy.
Thanks!

Thanks but I upgraded to 28 instead of the downgrade to 29. Looks a LOT better and I prefer firefox over chrome. If I wanted chrome I'd install it instead of ff29 which a total POS. BTW your fix (as far as i could see) does not get rid of the at that some dumb ass coder decided docking the reload button to the right side of the address bad was a good idea. Lets see, undocked and allow user to control the way they use the software or docked and lock the user into the way some dickhead thinks it looks best. I wonder which is a better idea?
