I want the ebs report to give me an output in Excel

i am a bit new i can only view txt and pdf files as output from my ORACLE ERP.
I am able to change the file in the concurrent request definition window to XML but when i run the report from my HRMS resp. it gives me TAGS and not the output in excel.
Kindly help me with some document so that i can acheive my goal.

You need to use XML publisher and create a RTF template to format the data in Excel.
Outputting Oracle to Excel is always cumbersome, you can use XML Publisher (BI Publisher), Discoverer and bunch of other tools. The only problem with them is that you have to learn on how to use the specific tool, which often outweighs the benefits. Especially if your users have hard time adopting it.
I have been dealing with this issue for many years in all the places I worked at and finally came up with an approach where you simply paste your query in the standard report definition screen in System Admin and it produces Excel outputs when run. No CSVs, no dumping files into Unix, just click on the report output to have the Excel screen open up with your report in it. The only skill you need to have is writing SQL. Other than that, no development tools are required. To my surprise my latest client migrated from Discoverer to my tool, heh.

Reports - output to Excel - does not format the "Broken by" rows correctly

Choosing the "break by" column clause while building one of the
wizard based reports works great when you are displaying the
reports in the default HTML mode.
So, my query actually returns a denormalized return set with
multiple rows containing the same fields on certain columns.
This works great with the default format, since the repeated
fields/rows are nulled and I get a neat report.
However, the same thing, if I choose to output in excel, I get
the original denormalized output into the excel document instead
of the null fields for the duplicate fields/columns
It looks like it sends the result set directly to the excel
before allowing the Report UI formatting to take effect. This
is a big issue for us, since we promised the client that we
could get them excel outputs easily, when it does not really
work the way you would expect it.
Any suggestions ??

Presently, this is not supported. It is targeted for some future
release. This is a known bug. If you want the bug number then

Oracle Reports 9I generate output in excel

Report Builder 9.0.4.0.33
I tried generating output to Excel using 10GR2 Report builder using SPREADSHEET for destype on the web and it works.
The requirement is for this one customer who is on 9I and they are asking for excel output functiuonality on thier existing reports.
Does oracle has a patch or any other way to generate the exisitng reports on 91 where we can give them a selection like SPREADSHEET in the parameter screen and it would generate the report in excel.

I tried by appending below to the url in the before report trigger.
&mimetype=application/vnd.ms-excel
which works but, we give other selections to the user too where they can change the desformat to PDF or HTMLCSS...and they all try to open the report output in excel.

My team mate wrote a javascript function on before report trigger that checks the paramter selection for desformat and append the mimetype accordingly.Hence, able to achieve the functionality.

The report to get the leave approver is 'RPTARQ'.
Enter the personnel no and the application ID which can be 'ESS_LR' and execute.
Also, you may determine the same without using the report as a whole.
Check the MSTBR field of the table PA0001 of the corresponding PERNR and you will get the supervisor of the employee who generally is the leave approver.

Speak with your SD consultant. They can set up the copy control in SD so that the sales order is populated in the invoice in field ZUONR (Assignment).This will then copy to the assignment field in accounting.
Alternatively you can use an exit to populate another field during the Posting.

This is compounded actually by a Gmail issue. I have had this email address for ages, since the start of the beta. But lately in the last year or so, I am getting mail that seems to be intended for other people but it is using my email address. It is probably one of them who created the Apple ID.

I fixed this problem. It was pretty easy.
First, in the address bar, type in " about:config " .
When it asks if you are sure about making changes & it may void the warranty, click "yes--I promise I'll be careful" or something along those lines. (I heard there is no warranty, & it's just a joke)
Once you get to the new screen, find " browser.link.open_newwindow "
You will see the # 3 on the same line. Change that value to 1.

Parameter Form not calling the Main report - Gives REP-0110, REP-1070, REP-0110 error

I am using run_report_object to call a report in which the user has to input some paramters. I have followed the instructions as in the Oracle White paper document on Forms/Reports integration.
The paramter report does come up but when I hit the submit button, I get an error
REP-0110: Unable to open file 'rclug005'.
REP-1070: Error while opening or saving a document.
REP-0110: Unable to open file 'rclug005
I've checked the privileges and everything's fine on that front. Also, I can get to open the report with the web.show document built-in with paramform setting = No.
I am guessing something's wrong with the html constructed in the parameter form which is,

I am building the variable exactly as in the White paper in the "before form" trigger using exactly the same values give there.

My report has some extra parameters too it expects. So do I have to include the names of those parameters too in the string above?
For example, in my report a user parameter is named 'print_date', which I do see and populate with value in the parameter form, then do I have to build that in the vc_hidden_runtime_values string above.
I am using Report 6.0.8.11.3 on 9iAS.

I am using firefox ver 8.0.1 and Canon LBP3200 printer. Whenever i give a print command from Firefox the browser crashes and the crash reporter asks for submitting the report.

I am using the printer in a network. the same problem is faced when giving print on the canon LBP3200 from the local computer.
its kind of very irritating.
Even if i open a pdf document in the browser and then give print command the browser crashes and the crash reporter appears.

Everythings ok but when I push the run report report came with all data but I don't want to when push the run button. I want to run and then write customer ID and then push the GO button and then only came to 1 data or info. Can I do this and how???

Assuming you are using Page 1 for the report, do the following:
1 - Create a new HTML Region called "Search" and put this above your report on the page layout
2 - Add a normal Text item called "P1_CUSTOMER_ID" into the new region - this will be where your user enters in the CUSTOMER_ID value that they want the report to filter by
3 - Add a Hidden Item called "P1_DISPLAY" into the new region. Set the Default Value for this item to N. If this is 'Y', the report will be shown - if this is 'N' the report is hidden
4 - Add a button called "P1_SEARCH" into the new region
5 - Add a button called "P1_RESET" into the new region
6 - Update your SQL statement to include a WHERE clause:
SELECT ....
FROM ....
WHERE CUSTOMER_ID = :P1_CUSTOMER_ID
(you may have to do TO_NUMBER(:P1_CUSTOMER_ID) if your CUSTOMER_ID field is numeric)
7 - Add a branch to the page that branches to Page 1 and sets P1_DISPLAY to Y. Set this branch to be run only when the P1_SEARCH button is clicked
8 - Add another branch to the page that branches to Page 1 and sets P1_DISPLAY to N. Ensure that this has a higher sequence number than the first branch
9 - Finally, add a Conditional Display to the report region. Set the Condition Type to "Value of Item in Expression 1 = Expression 2". Enter P1_DISPLAY into Expression 1 and Y into Expression 2

It sounds like you would like to erase your MacBook Pro and install a new copy of OS X, but the Mac does not boot to OS X Recovery when you hold the Command + R keys during startup.
