I want the SEARCH field back - how do I restore it?

I’ve tried restoring defaults; I’ve tried Safe Mode; I’ve looked at all the themes & Customize options; I’ve browsed about:config and tried anything that looked even remotely likely or modified; I've upgraded Firefox. NOTHING helps.

Since downloading OSXMav 10.9.4, Safari quits. Have to keep restarting - want the downlevel version back; how?

Even as I try and submit this question, I have to keep restarting the iMac. Wifi is not the problem, and all other applications such as iPhoto, WP, PS, etc work. It's only Safari that cannot hold the connection. I want the downlevel version back so I can work again. But, don't know how to uninstall and install previous version. If you do not have a backup of your previous system, there is no easy way to revert back to the previous OS X version.

I don't have my search field anymore, only the url field. I know I can seach in it, but I want my separate search field back. How do I do that?

Not sure when it happened and I am sure it is just a setting or something, but I can't find where I get the search field back. I see it when I open the customize the tool bar, but it disappears when I close it. I want to search from Google and the URL search bar does not give me that option, only Google Maps & places.
How do I get back that separate search field?

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Opening a new tab in Firefox 16.0.1 the focus is on the address bar but then moves to the search field

When I open a new tab in Firefox 16.0.1 the focus is on the address bar for a second or so then the focus moves to the search input field. If I start typing something the first character fills in the address bar then the rest is typed into the search field.
How do I get the focus to remain in the address bar as per previous versions please?

Unfortunately the only way I can think to achieve this involves the use of "UI Scripting". The other previous posters have given you the preferred method you should consider using. If you want to script iTunes so that you visually see the search take place in iTunes you'll need to use the method shown in the script I've posted below.

Ah, I understand now. You don't want to erase the search history. You want to prevent search from accessing old data. The only way to do that is to restore the phone as new.

Any ideas about how to restore old appearance on my iPhone? I just updated to IOS7 and really dislike the new appearance. I have to log on to see percentage of power used since I can't see it on my opening screen. I also want the gray folders back.

Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:

// Get reference to the b0 button

// Set the icon of the b0 button to the icon retrieved from the hidden button

I'm trying to locate a message on my mac from the messages app and when I search for a message it shows me one message that matches but I know there are multiple messages, I'm just wondering how to scroll through them.

The Search field in Messages will only scan the currently Open Chats and iMessages.
You will have to use Spotlight to look for older/Saved ones.
Alternatively you can use File Menu > Recent Items if you thinks the chat was recent and you have Saved it.

You can't delete it. Look on all your screens and inside all your folders. If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.
