I want to allow redirects but not auto-reloading

I'm running Yosemite on a Mac Air, with fully-updated everything.
I'd like to stop pages reloading without my permission. This is usually an issue for me on news sites.
In FF preferences, the option to allow or disallow auto-reloading is tied to the option to redirect. I can allow or disallow both, but not allow one and not the other.
The net effect is, my news sites aren't automatically refreshing (yay), but other sites get stuck when a page redirect comes up. I play Scrabble online; now I have to manually allow a redirect with every play. Same with following Twitter links.
Is there some way to kill off the auto-reloads while still allowing redirects? Maybe a whitelist for redirects, as a secondary option?

I do not know if the browser can tell the difference because it depends on the DNS server to give redirect requests back to the browser. Actually it does, 301 or 302 vs new http get request.... anyway:
I found this add on: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/refreshblocker/ Refresh Blocker] and [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noredirect/?src=search No Redirect] which both let you control what sites to allow if there are only a few sites.
This would only be a temporary work around however.

Do you mean saving a password?
If you clicked "Never" then you have created an exception that you need to remove.
Remove site(s) from the Exceptions:
* Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: Exceptions

I want to save usernames but NOT passwords

I want to save usernames but NOT passwords (I am not comfortabel saving passwords onto my computer - defeats the object of having them in the first place!) but I would like to save time by having my usernames saved, so that when I start typing my username a drop down box appears with all the recent ones used so I can then click on mine. I had this in my windows XP and all other microsoft computers... just switched to Apple and a little frustrated!.
Can anyone help? All the help sites I have found so far just tell me to save the username AND the password....

What you ask is not possible. Provided you don't let anyone else use the computer while it's logged in to your account, and you have a reasonably strong login password, and you always lock the screen or log out when away from the machine, it's safe to store web passwords. They're encrypted with your login password.

If i have 2 wndows open and try to close one, both close. It asks me if I want to close both but not an option to close 1

if i go to a site and click on a link in the site - sometimes the back button is not there. If I try to close the top window to go back to the original site, it warns me I'm going to close both windows. I only want to close one but don't know how so I wind up closing both and having to re-open firefox.

Why is "internet" flagged as miss-spelling in Indesign but not auto-corrected?

when the entire support system for Indesign exists on the internet, why is this word not recognised by the Indesign inbuilt dictionary?
Further, I have auto-correct set to ON! Yet it's not correcting this to whatever it assumes is the correct spelling. Given that the listed suggestions when middle tapping are "Internet" or "INTERNET" why is it not auto-correcting to one of these? It's not like it could be some other word I'm trying to type.

I'm guilty of being a little "new school" in this regards. I type a lot, mostly explaining stuff and demonstrating stuff, and illustrating points and ideas, thoughts and concepts, structures and paradigms of approaches and **** like that. Really utter nonsense, more than anything... and I utterly rely on spell check auto-correct. I actually use it much more like an Auto-Complete than autocorrect. Such is my reliance on it.
There's a certain joy to structuring words to a space, that's part of a design vanity and aesthetic that means little to few. But those times that I've used that approach in Indesign I'm stuck wondering how my spelling is doing. Because my spelling, mostly, sucks.
It would be REALLY nice, to have an option, apart from these other options, to use the OS (in this case Mac OS X) spell check throughout Indesign, in addition to the and concurrent with the custom library of personal spell corrections. In this manner it could be like Microsoft word, in the sense that the auto-correct of Indesign can be used like a "macro" and the OS auto-correct (which I've trained heavily to my words and way of expressing myself) can be running "as normal".
I find it a little strange that a layout program doesn't have this ability to use the host OS's spell check, because I can't be the only designer that's both using the layout features of Indesign and generating the content that goes into that layout. And it's completely undesirable to be swapping between a word processor, or even the inbuilt editor of Indesign, when I would much rather see my words go where they're going to be, live, and auto-corrected in whatever manner I choose.
But, there you go. My two cents on something it appears nobody else cares about, thinks about or works like.
As to programming, yes, I fully understand, the words and phrases and keywords from that... you'd need a while to train word processor style environment to deal with that. I have often wondered why code editors don't learn from the auto-completes of word processors, and vice-versa.
I really like the way Xcode does Objective-C suggestive completion, for example. That's unbelievably fantastic, particularly for someone like me that knows very little programming and even less of Foundation and CocoaTouch etc. I don't have to keep going back to the docs, just need to start with the first few letters of the method/class and go from there... it's basically helping me write the line from there.
Imagine a word processor like that...

Want music on iPhone but not iPod.

I have more music in my iTunes library than I have room for. As a result, I had to uncheck some stuff. I'd like to put that stuff on my iPhone but not the iPod. Does anyone know how I can do this? Thanks for any help.

One way to do this is to use Smart Playlists. These playlists can be built using pretty much any criteria you want, but here's an example:
I use this Smart Playlist to keep the music on my iPhone rotating and fresh. When I plug in the iPhone to power every night is syncs with iTunes, updates the play counts then syncs the new music to the playlist.
So when you sync your iPhone sync just your Smart Playlist, not your entire library.

Redirecting, But Not Redirecting

Hello I have redirected my podcast for good two months now to my new webhost with the
<itunes:new-feed-url>http://www.myfeedurl.com/rss.xml</itunes:new-feed-url> tag
but the itunes page is not being redirected BUT, my new podcast is being downloaded in iTunes itself. As not sure how to go about fixing this I thought I ask here if anybody can give their insight. Also I have one more questiob about the tag above. Will iTunes switch the RSS Feed from the old one feed to the new feed permanently after some time and the I don't have access to the old host anymore? This was never really answer in anything I have readed.

If you have entered the redirection tag correctly everyone who subscribes will be automatically and permanently redirected to the new feed as soon as they check the feed, and the Store will redirect the next time it checks the feed, which can take a couple of days.
I can't comment any further than that without being able to examine the evidence: would you like to post the URLs of both feed and of the Store page (you can find the latter by right-clicking on the podcast image and choosing 'Copy URL').

Want songs in playlist but not in library

so i have a CD with thousands of short japanese recordings on it, the only way i believe that i can get them onto my iphone/ipod is through adding them to itunes. However when i hit shuffle songs the likelihood of getting a japanese recording instead of a song is very high.
CAN I ADD THESE RECORDINGS TO MY IPHONE/IPOD IN AN ITUNES PLAYLIST, BUT NOT IN LIBRARY?
or is there an alternate way to listen to these without disrupting itunes?

You can't have them in a playlist unless they are first in your library. If you delete them from your library, you also delete them from any playlist.
You should select all your Japanese tracks and open the "Get Info" window (iTunes File menu > Get Info). Select the Options tab and check "Skip when shuffling" and click OK.

I get a message bar saying "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." How can I find out what page it was trying to redirect to so I know whether I want to "allow" it or not?

I've used Firefox for a long time, but recently this message started appearing every time I open Firefox.

The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

How to Turn Off Screen, but NOT Auto-Lock phone?

I have an iPhone 5S. I have auto-lock set to 5 minutes. I often want to shut the screen for a short period (less than 5 minutes) to conserve the battery and to put it in my pocket while making sure I don't do something on the phone. As such, I press the sleep button at the top. No matter how quickly I turn the phone back on (by pressing the sleep button again) it is now locked. I find this *very* annoying. Obviously, the "Sleep button" doesn't just put the phone to sleep, but locks it too *despite* the auto-lock setting. Is there any way to really just "sleep" the phone withOUT turning on the lock?

"Sleep" and "lock" are the same thing where an iPhone is concerned. The only other option is passcode lock.

Already have DVDSP4 - want to install DVDSP3 but not overwrite DVDSP4!

Hi all,
I already have DVDSP4 installed, but i have found that i can't export to MPEG2 from Final Cut HD. I would like to get this back on my 'export' list in Final Cut HD. Can i install DVDSP3 back onto my mac without overwriting DVDSP4?
I prefer not to use Compressor, as i've wasted time on it before with some of the problems it comes with. Also want to have A-Pack on my machine.

Works like a charm. Apple Supports says you can have multiple instances of Bootcamp. Win Server 2008 R2 is up and running, drivers installed (except issues with Bluetooth) and accepting Windows Updates and Service Packs.
