I want to back up emails in mail to disk in pdf format

Is there a way to do this by the batch load in Automator or apple script?
and how do i do it please? Never used these applications at all

Not quite what i had in mind, I did try cmnd a, cmnd p and yes it does work but creates 1 big file to save as a pdf but the purpose required is to archive receipts accumulated from E shopping, Imagion your Hadron collider breaks and you want to get it relpaced, You want to get to that particular receipt with out sifting through pages upon pages in one file

How to import backed up emails to Mail after webhost move?

I changed my webhost recently. The email adress remains the same, but I had to change the account settings (server names) for my email (Imap).I have backed up all my emails from Apple Mail by copying the mail folder in user to my desktop. I also backed up com.apple.mail.plist
I can now receive and send email again, but all the old emails are not in the inbox anymore. So I imported mailboxes in Mail and it restored all the local folders and emails, but not the emails that were in the inbox. I have all the emails on my desktop in an emlx format and I can open them and read them, but I don't know how to get these back into my inbox. Do you have any idea how to import these?

The right way to do what you describe would have been to use Setup Assistant. That option appears after completely erasing your MacBook Pro and installing OS X.
You can choose to do that all over again, this time following the instructions here: OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mavericks
If you don't want to use that method and prefer to import only the old mailboxes, copy the folder from the following location on the backup device to the MBP:
~/Library/Mail
Although you can open that folder, and the V2 folder within it to select individual mailboxes and their contents I recommend you copy the entire Mail folder.
You won't be able to use the above path directly when logged in to your account on the MBP and selecting the old account's Mail folder. What you need to do is navigate to it by selecting the backup device, then the Users folder, then your user name's Home folder, then Library. Depending on the backup method you used, you may not have access privileges to select it. It will also result in duplication of effort since you already imported emails that were not "on my Mac".
Quit Mail before you start. Be absolutely certain you are copying the right way; you don't want to mistakenly overwrite the backup. After you re-launch Mail, the "importing messages" dialog box and associated progress bar will appear. That's normal.

When I type in the email address I want to send an email to, mail suggests email addresses i never use

I am using Apple's Mail application on my MacBook Pro for 3 emails. One personal, one for my work place and one for my university email address. From the university I receive lots of emails which isn't sent only for me, but every student on my course, so I am not the only receiver.
When I am sending an email, from any of my email addresses and I type in whom I want to send it to, it shows a bunch of email addresses that I have never sent an email to. They are all university email addresses and I want to get rid of them, but they are not in my address book and I have no clue how to delete them / where to find them.
For example: I wanted to send an email from my work place email to James Fox. He's email is [email protected] (just an example). When I start to type in James.f, about 100 email addresses pop up, but none of them is the one I need and I will never need those and I CANT GET RID OF THEM.

How is the university account added to your system? (You should be able to find it in either System Preferences - Internet Accounts, or Mail - Preferences). Is it an Exchange account, perhaps? I wonder if you're seeing a centralized contact group that can't be controlled from your computer (but you may be able to turn it off completely).

How to email a concurrent program output in PDF format?

I have a XML report running as a concurrent program with PDF output. I need to automate the xml report to be emailed to a specific user as the concurrent manager runs with PDF output. I am using reports 6i and database 10g.

Emailed video tries to open in PDF format

When I try to open an emailed video attachment, it defaults to the PDF reader app (and obviously won't play)
If I delete the PDF app it shows the Quicktime logo but is frozen & won't open.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

Backing up email from Mac Mail

I'm running 10.9.3 and use Mac Mail to connect to an Exchange email account (Office 365).
I want to back up all my mail and have been playing with the Export Mailbox feature. I have a few questions:
Is there any way to back up more than one folder at a time?
My Archive folder is quite big (35k messages). When I backed this up, it created 2 folders (Archive.mbox and Archive 2.mbox). The mbox file in mbox 2 is much larger (5.48GB vs 173KB).
Is it normal that it would create to folders?
Will this cause me any issues when doing a restore?
I also backed up my Inbox and Sent Items and both were created in just one folder each.
Are there any recommended tools for automatically backing up Mac Mail or is my best bet to do this manually?I'd love to find a cloud based tool where I can archive all my email and keep it secure and searchable in the cloud. When I Google this I only find enterprise type tools but I'm a single user.

Mac OS X Mail is integrated with Time Machine, and you probably already have Time Machine configured and running, which means you are getting backups.
Archive probably doesn't do what you think it does. Export is closer, and Time Machine probably closest. From the help file for Mail.app:
Archive messages
You can use the Archive mailbox as a handy place to store messages that you’re done with, but don’t want to delete yet.
Open Mail
Select one or more messages to archive.
If you select a conversation, all messages in the conversation are archived.
Choose Message > Archive.
An Archive mailbox is created in the sidebar for each account whose messages you archive, and the archived messages are automatically moved there.
Archived messages remain in the Archive mailbox until you delete or move them. Depending on the account type, the Archive mailbox is stored on the mail server.

I have a hard disk drive with data that i want to back up onto another hard disk drive. I tried just copy and it won't let me paste it in the new drive. I have also tried to drag the files across and they won't go across. Does anyone know how to do this?

I have also tried to click and drag but it wont let me either. I have reformatted the external hard drive to accept both mac and pc files and this did not make any difference. Can anyone help me with this?

How did you reformat the drive? If you formatted it as NTFS, your Mac will not be able to write files to it unless you use a small application such as Paragon's.
Please reply as to how you formatted the drive.

Send as email attachment the billing document as pdf when created and saved

HI All,
I have already searched the forum but could not find a satisfying answer so i am posting this question,
The requirement is to send an email containing biiling document converted to pdf format when a billing document
is created and saved in VF01 transaction.
I have already converted the output to pdf format in my driver program and also know how to send an email containing the same ..but this works only when user prints using VF31 .
Kindly tell the configuration steps which are required...and hot to achieve the same.

Bounce back email in mail

I would like to not receive emails in Mail from a certain person but i want to email to bounce back to them so they know that the email address does not exsist and that the email was not read or received

HT1430 I want to reset my email password. When I go to settings, then mail the section on accounts remains grey rather than bold & so I cannot enter in to it to reset the password. I have switched my ipad off & on & this makes no difference... any ideas?

Thanks for the question. I understand you are wishing to change the stored password for an email account on your iPad 2.
If you are unable to edit this field, you may want to remove and re-add the account. Please make sure to back up all of your information before doing so. Also Note: if this is an external email provider, you'll need to reset your password using their website, then update your iPad to reflect the new password.

I can't send mail after updating to mavericks (10.9.2) . i have to quit and restart mail each time i want to send an email - i can't believe apple have done this so amateurishly - please can someone help ???

i cant use mail to send an email. it goes to my out box and then eventually comes up with this dialogue :
"An error occurred while sending this message using the SMTP server “(null)”
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."
I have to click Try Later and then quit mail , then restart Mail and then if I am lucky the email will be sent. the next time I have to send an email the same thing happens . I have to go through this everytime i want to send an email. its a really time consuming vicious circle which is extremely annoying,

From the Mail menu bar, select
Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Try to send a message and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.

Having deleted some Mail messages by mistake, I have had to recover them from TM. I can tell you that the recovery of mail messages will be done at the mailbox level. In my case it was half of the messages in a mailbox. So I recovered the complete mailbox from TM. Then I copied the messages from the recovered mailbox back into the mailbox I use in Mail. I hope that helps.
Please be aware that TM is a backup application and not an archival application. What that means is that if your TM drive gets full, it will get rid of older files which could be mail messages to make space for newer backups. You might want to consider archiving your mail instead of using TM if you need to maintain your mail messages for extended periods of time.

You can create an alias @icloud.com email address within your current account that will receive email in your current iCloud inbox (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a). (@me.com addresses are no longer available as new addresses.) Just be aware that you cannot use an alias address later to create a new iCloud account or move it to a different account.
Also, even if you created a new iCloud account with a new ID, your existing purchases would not be lost. They are permanently tied to the original ID you used to purchase them. You can also continue to use the existing ID for the iTunes store; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.
