I want to buy a new 27in iMac and I want to transfer all my photo and music from my old iMac to the new one.  Is this possible?

I am going to purchse a new 27in iMac. I have a 21 inch single core intel chip iMac purchased in 2006.  I want to transfer my music from iTunes (3600 songs) and my photos from iPhoto (28000).  Can this be done without using an external hard drive? I backed up all my songs from iTunes but I have yet to understand how they show up on the hard drive. Before you all criticize me, I am a 72 year old lady who is limited in my ability to understand technical data but have been able to use a computer for some time now.

    Following up on this thread,
I have a new iMac on the way and my current is from 2008, never had a problem but I am sure there are internal issues that I would prefer not to transfer.
I have no issues other then the slowness in certain programs and that is the main reason to buy a new one.
Programs like numbers and pages seem to take a longer time to open after I update to Yosemite.
I only use 272GB of 500 GB, my memory is 4GB and I am upgrading to 8Gb and bought the 4.0 processor.
    Question:
Is there a way to manually transfer items or would that be a waste of time in that if there are issues they could be anywhere and would transfer anyway?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • What's the easiest way to transfer all my pictures and music from my old PC to my new Mac?

I just recently got a Mac and wanted to know the easiest way to transfer my pictures and music from my PC to my Mac.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The best and easiest way is by using Windows Migration Assistant. Apart from that, this app allows you to transfer other things, that you can check in this page > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4796 You have also the steps to transfer your data to your Mac in that page.
If you don't want to use it, just copy your music and pictures to an external drive and transfer them to the Mac

  • How do I transfer my i photo '08 contents from my old imac to a new imac?

I would like to know how i can move all the contents of my i photo '08 from my old imac to a new imac. I am worried about the photo's in the web gallery. I would like to keep them and carry them over to the new imac since the old mac will be used by someone else and i would probably need to vacate the pictures on file there. Same goes for the itunes.
    Hope someone can help here.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Use Migration Assistant on the new Mac to move your User Account over. This will move iPhoto, Itunes libraries and your personal settings - including your .Mac/MobileMe settings.

  • I just bought a new ipod shuffle, how can i transfer music from my old ipod onto the new one

How do I transfer from my old ipod to my new ipod

You can't transfer it directly.  If the old iPod is set to sync to your iTunes library on the computer, everything on the iPod is in your iTunes library.  Just set up the shuffle to sync from your iTunes library as desired.
If the old iPod is set to Manually manage music, AND there are songs on the iPod that are not in your current iTunes library, please post back.

  • How can i get music from my old iphone to the new one

how do i transfer my music nd pictures to my new iphone from the old one?

All music on your old iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer and can be transferred to your new iPhone in the same way - via the iTunes sync process.
All photos on your old iPhone that were transferred from your computer should remain on your computer. These photos can be transferred to your new iPhone in the same way - via the iTunes sync process.
Photos/videos in your old iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. After being imported by your computer, they can be transferred to your new iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process.

  • How do I transfer all my web/eCommerce info from my old BC account to my new Adobe CC account?

    Hi,
2 years ago I made an eCommerce website and it went live with Businsss Catalyst. 3 months ago I became a member of Adobe Creative Cloud, which gives me access to Business Catalyst within my Adobe CC account. How do I move all my website information from my old BC account to my new Adobe CC account? If someone could help me out here, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    This will not work.
The 5 Creative Cloud sites are only webbasic. They are the lowest plan availible and will not support things like eCommerce.

  • Upgrading IMac to Yosemite and don't want to lose CS5 suite that was downloaded from internet (I have no application cd's) Is this possible?

How can I keep my Adobe CS5 Suite (photoshop, indesign, illustrator) if I upgrade my operating system IMac Snow Leopard to Yosemite? I do not have the Adobe CS5 application disks as it was loaded from the internet through my job.

Go here and be sure your serial number(s) are there: Find your serial number quickly

  • If I buy a refurbished MBPr, will I be able to transfer my video software to it from my old MB?

I'm looking to buy a refurbished 2012/2013 Macbook Pro Retina and then to transfer my Adobe Production Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.) and an old Microsoft Office Suite from my 2008 Macbook onto it. Is this going to be possible if I take both into an Apple store? I have no idea where my original download discs went to, so that is not an option.
Other details that may not pertain: I don't really want to attempt it at home. I'm going to have to update my Adobe Suite after it's been transferred; I own the CS5.5 suite which looks a little blurry on the retina display, so I'll upgrade to CS6. Maybe I won't need to transfer it if they can virtually transfer the update onto my new computer? (And I know what some of you are thinking...No I don't want to switch to creative cloud). I don't really mind if Office is a bit blurry, I rarely use it, but like it better than Pages or Open Office.
    Thanks!

Is this going to be possible if I take both into an Apple store?
Call the AS & ask them.  I would think you need proof that you are the rightful owner of the apps.
I have no idea where my original download discs went to
If you still have your receipts as confirmation of purchase and/or written down the serial #'s & kept them in a safe place, you need to contact Microsoft.  Perhaps they will send you new discs.
