I want to buy a retina display mac, Help!

Hi, I am student in my 11th grade, I wanna purchase a new macbook pro retina, i sold my old one for 1200. Coming to the point i need to decide upon the storage: 128 or 256GB. Please help, I primarily want to use it for school, some games and movies.

You shouldn't have any problem with 128 GB of flash storage. Also, the MacBook Pro with 256 GB may be too expensive for you, and that's why I think that the best option is to buy the MacBook Pro with 128 GB and buy an external drive to store your user files there, so you will have your files safer.
If your files can be stored in the internal flash storage, use the external drive to make backups of your computer. It's very important to make backups and prevent data loss if the storage gets damaged

  • How do I transfer files from mac with snow leopard to a new retina display mac

What is the easiest way to transfer files from my old mac(2008) snow leopard to my new retina display mac book pro?

Easiest? Well there is some sort of wireless transfer thing, but I hear it takes FOREVER like several days and it's glitchy.
The Retina doesn't have a Firewire port I believe, so Target Disk Mode is out, unless you have a adapter and I don't know how well that will work out. Cost another $30 for the adpatper I bet.
    The likely most easiest?
Run down to any computer or office store and pickup a powered external USB hard drive that's the same size or larger then the old Mac's boot drive.
Boot the old Mac and download Carbon Copy Cloner.
(or use the TimeMachine if it asks, but it takes a reallly long time and if there are problems, then it's harder to recover files from)
Format the external drive in Disk Utility with Partition: option GUID and OS X Extended Journaled (default setting)
Use CCC to clone OLD A boot drive to External Drive B, takes about a few hours depending how much stuff you have.
Hook up drive to new Mac, (either clone or TimeMachine drive)
Use the free Migration Assistant in your Application Utility folder to transfer over, but creates a new user account (you can later delete one)
Or if you haven't set up the new Mac yet, when you do set it up during that process, you can transfer from the External Drive B and it won't have the account you set the machine up with naturally just uses the ones from the clone or TimeMachine drive.
Once your fine and dandy on the new machine, then Disk Utility erase and use the external USB to create either a bootable clone with CCC or a TimeMachine drive for backup.
Since you need a backup drive anyway, this method is better and happens to be reliable and easy.

  • How do I fix incorrect resolution for Firefox user interface on Retina display Mac?

I have a 15" retina display Mac (roughly a year old) running Mountain Lion. A couple weeks ago the user interface in Firefox seems have switched from using the normal zoom level of every other application to the native dpi of the retina display monitor. This means that the UI elements are all extremely tiny, etc. Is there anyway to reset this without simply reinstalling or reseting the rest of my configuration?
    Currently running Firefox 27.0.

You can try to modify the gfx.hidpi.enabled pref on the <b>about:config</b> page (<=0: disable; 1:all screens same res; >1:enable always).
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You can set the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to 1.0 and if necessary adjust layout.css.devPixelsPerPx starting from 1.0 in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) to make icons show correctly.

  • I want to buy a new i mac

I want to buy a new i mac but I do not know whether I should focus my money on spending more on RAM or GHZ? I will mainly be using my new mac to edit videos on i movie, view & edit my photos, browse the internet and play a few newer games like Diablo 3 & starcraft 2. I really don't want to spend more than $2000 on my new computer so I don't know whether to get the 21.5" with 2.7GHZ and upgraded to 16GB of ram with warranty for bout $1900 or go for the 21.5" with 2.9GHZ and only the original 8GB of ram with warranty for about $1900 aswell. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Pully,
Load it with as much RAM as possible.
Unless you take it from an i5 to an i7 don't even bother looking at processor upgrade.

  • Out of memory error, retina display mac

I went to the mac store and the "genius" outright lied to me.  He blamed the "out of memory" render problem on fcp and not the laptop itself.
Tell me if I"m wrong on this...
I can take the hard drive that I'm rendering from and render without a problem on my desktop and old laptop no problem...but my new piece of sh*t laptop (which has been a problem from day one) will not render the sequence.
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro10,1
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed:          2.3 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          6 MB
      Memory:          16 GB
      Boot ROM Version:          MBP101.00EE.B02
      SMC Version (system):          2.3f32
    Hardware UUID:          B043CF8D-63BF-50CD-A4FC-F38E508949FF
I get an out of memory on every last type of render there is...I have always been a mac user since day one, but this laptop is crap at best

A question and an observation from somebody who doesn't use FCP of either flavor. Feel free to ignore the observation, but the answer to the question might help somebody else help you with your problem.
What level of OS X are you running on your Retina MBP? Your profile line says you are running Snow Leopard (10.6.8), but that won't run on a Retina MBP. They came with Lion (10.7.x) at first, they with Mountain Lion (10.8.x).
Reports on how well FCP7 runs on OS X 10.8 are mixed even before you throw the Retina display into the mix, but some Retina MBPs that shipped with 10.7 seem to work better with 10.8. (Mine does.)

  • I want to buy new model of mac mini

I was hoping that the delay is because of a redesign like they did with the mac pro, I have some ideas about it like mac pro mini or mac mini pro, who knows what they will call it.... Intel iris pro graphics would be nice but a nvidia 780m graphics chip would be better..... It should have thunderbolt 2 also....... I have an old six year old macbook whith os mavericks and want to upgrade to a new mac mini whenever they release it this year or next..... I do have one question about audio.  My macbook is only cabable of 96khz and 24 bit audio through the optical out and audio in but would like to use 192 khz and 24 bit audio for recording vinyl masters and for external microphone recordings.  Does the current mac mini do this?

Late 2012 Mini (the current one)
    Audio in/optical audio in port
The Audio In port accommodates both digital optical input and analog audio input.
Analog audio line input is accepted through a 3.5mm mini phone jack. The sound input port accepts line-level stereo signals up to 24-bit stereo 44.1-192kHz sampling rate. It also accepts a stereo miniplug-to-RCA cable adapter for connecting stereo equipment to the computer.
Optical audio input is SPDIF format and uses a standard TOSLINK cable with a TOSLINK mini-plug adapter, accepting up to 24-bit stereo and 44.1-96kHz sampling rate.
    Headphone out/optical audio out port
The headphone/line out port accommodates digital optical audio output, analog audio output with a 24-bit, 44.1-192 kHz D/A converter, digital audio output up to 24-bit stereo and 44.1-192 kHz sampling rate and supporting encoded digital audio output (AC3 and DTS). For analog headphone / line output, use a standard audio cable with 3.5mm metal plug. For digital audio, you can use Apple iPhone headset with microphone or a standard TOSLINK cable with a TOSLINK mini-plug adapter

  • Adobe Creative 6 is still pixelated even after I updated it on my Macbook with Retina display. HELP!

I just purchased the Macbook Retina display and installed my Adobe Creative 6. I mainly use Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat Pro. When I use these programs, it still appears pixelated even after I updated the software. I've attached screenshots.

Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6 have had updates that add support for Retina Display (generically called HiDPI support). InDesign needs to be updated to a Cocoa interface on the Mac and 64 bit support on Mac and Windows which can't happen until the next version of InDesign. Acrobat 11 was released too early for HiDPI support to happen.

  • Select Color Range, fails v13.1.1 on Retina Display Mac

Is there a trick to getting the new Color Range selection function to work on a retina Mac Book Pro?
I am quite familiar with the color range selection in the previous version of Photoshop, and used it regularly. I've decided to try as simply as possible by using a flat image (no layers), and trying to select colors. I've increased the contrast in the image to make darks and lights much easier to pull out.
I've explored setting the sample size to point-sample up to 3x3, and 5x5. I've also set the resolution of my display to 2880 x 1800 (to reduce the possiblility of anti-aliasing problems).
It will not make any selection though, using the eye-dropper sample.
Using other options will work, such as Highlights, Shadows, Skin Tones, etc., but it won't do anything with Sampled Colors.

SO very glad I'm not the only one with this seemingly EXACT same issue.
    System:
Photoshop CS6 via Creative Cloud membership.
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    16GB Ram
    Issue:
Select > Color Range used to work perfectly before update 13.1.1
Now since the update 13.1.1 Color Range doesn't do jack properly. Selecting any color doesn't do anything. sometimes if I select a white it will act as though I've pulled out a gray.. but even one pixel difference will make it deselect. This only happens with Sampled Colors. All otehr color range preselections work as advertised. This would be great if I didn't need the precision afforded to me with Sampled Colors. This is mission critical to my daily work as a scren printing artist and have been unable to find a succesful workaround.
Is there at least a way (without having to uninstall/reinstall) to downgrade back to 13.0.x until this bug is found and fixed?

  • Want to Buy Camcorder that has Mac Compatible Software

I am in the market for a Camcorder in the $300 - $400 price range. I would like to find one that has Mac compatible software. All the ones that I have checked on Amazon, etc. are only PC compatible.
Are there any Mac compatible Camcorders available in my price range?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Most consumer camcorders will work with iMovie, which comes preinstalled on your Mac. You don't need any special software to capture/ingest the footage.

  • I Want motherboards buy-out New?but help

    Hello everyone ,
    I Here Member New   , }
I Want Help for buy-out (motherboards) I Want tool standing good between (K8N Diamond , K8N SLI Platinum) ?
    NoteS: I Have(*AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice*) and (*MSI NX6600GT-TD128E Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card*)
    Thanks

My honest advice to you would be don't buy a MSI motherboard.
Some may have good reviews, but these are based on a couple of hours testing in some lab. The real test of a motherboard is how the end user community rates the board, after weeks and months of use.
Do some research in public forums on any of the Mobo's u you are thinking of. Then base your decsion on that.
I made the mistake of buying an MSI mobo, when i'd previously used only DFI or Asus.
With MSI you are prone to stabilty problems and they seem incapable of releasing bios updates in time with new hardware/processors. Indeed MSI is the ONLY mobo Manfn who cannot write a bios that offically supports Venice + San Diego chips, when every other major manfn released them, months ago.
Its only my humble experience and view , but MSI are when it comes to MOBO.
Forums are great thou and everyone here is most helpful.

  • Old cs3  and want to download to my new mac - help please

how do i download an old cs3 to my new mac? it says that its already been registered but i have no idea when or why it is

    Demetra,
The link should work, whichever (non) compatibility. I will report the failure of that Adobe page. It ought to work, for those still using/needing it.
Is downgrading the OS an option?
Here are a few other hopefully more viable options for CS3 downloads.

In addition to installing Windows in Boot Camp so that it will run instead of Mac OS X, you can also install Windows as a Virtual Machine so that Windows and the Mac OS can run at the same time. To use a Virtual Machine, you'd need software such as VMware Fusion, Parallels, or Virtual Box.
Note, however, that you may have some difficulty finding Windows 7 for sale. You may be stuck with Windows 8.1.
